Revived by radiation

Eventually, Godzilla’s slumbering form was swept into a cavern made up of highly radioactive ores.  The radiation was so concentrated and intense that a man entering the chamber unprotected would have been burned as if inside a huge microwave.
As the radioactive subatomic particles bombarded every inch of Godzilla’s massive body, his cells drank in the radiation the way parched earth absorbs a gentle spring rain.
After days or weeks or months--for who can measure time without the sun and the moon and the stars?--Godzilla began to breathe again.  His outer layer of flesh soon healed.  The creature’s atomic heart was recharged like a gigantic nuclear battery.
When the cells could absorb no more, Godzilla stirred.  Then, finally, he opened his eyes.  Godzilla could feel renewed power surging through his body.  With a roar of triumph, the King of the Monsters rose to his full height and bellowed out a challenge to the world.
