- Krer Grimpaw: I know you are offline at the moment but I have a series of questions for you. 1. Are you guys still following the 'customer is always right' attitude? 2. Are y'all still lowering yerselves to the lowest common denominator and forcing staff to copy/paste the rules instead of adding snark cause the company is worried they won't get it unless we treat them like they're 6 years old? 3. You still reprimand your staff for cussing out obvious hackers or trolls as they deal with them? I'm willing to consider coming back but only if y'all loosened your belt and acted like a community instead of a company with a bottom line
- rxg | SwitchView: What an interesting take on our community, especially from toy
- rxg | SwitchView: you*
- Krer Grimpaw: Comes from many months in a much more lax admin role on a discord
- rxg | SwitchView: Well I'm sorry we didn't lower our standards for you, didn't think it was asking much for admins to be mature
- Krer Grimpaw: Hey, if were getting paid to coddle little kids i would totally wear a plastic mask and regurgitate rules word for word
- rxg | SwitchView: Coddle? I hardly consider warning and talking to people coddling, don't ever go into politics
- rxg | SwitchView: I would simply call it common decency, no need to go about being a jerk to people, your not going to do anything productive that way
- Krer Grimpaw: When i was working with RXG i was expected to treat lowlife hackers and micspammers with the same respect as law abiding citizens, and that irked me greatly
- Krer Grimpaw: Those people were going to be banned anyways, why does it matter what they think of a community they were never coming back to without circumventing the permaban?
- rxg | SwitchView: Interesting
- rxg | SwitchView: You have a skewed view of the past, considering we had zero tolerance policy against hackers and banned them all the time with no appeal. There's also the fact that you're implying we permabanned people, which we never did unless they had large negative influence
- rxg | SwitchView: In fact if I recall correctly, you were the one that actually kept adovacting to just permaban simply rule breakers. You wanted us to get rid of them for good because they were not worth our time
- rxg | SwitchView: Except we believe in giving people chances, giving them the benefit of the doubt that they will come back a better person. The people that do are welcomed back, the ones that don't just get banned into oblivion. We have many members that have been banned in the past. Had we permabanned them they would not be apart of us today which would be a shame
- Krer Grimpaw: Well you guys never allowed a more lengthy ban than like.... a week.... Im a more Half to Full year person for repeat extreme offenders
- Krer Grimpaw: I dont recall at all being tight choke on mild infractions like you seem to
- rxg | SwitchView: What purpose would a more lengthy ban time serve?
- rxg | SwitchView: I don't understand the second message
- Krer Grimpaw: Cause i know people who will shrug off just two weeks. And i sure as hell know i can remember a server or website for over a year, so dont say 'but oh they will forget us!'.
- Krer Grimpaw: And what i mean by the second message is i wasnt a hardass to those who only made mild mistakes
- rxg | SwitchView: They can shrug it off if they want and they'll just get banned again. Then there are the ones that won't shrug it off, and those are the ones we want to keep. After 6 months or a year has passed they might not even remember why they were banned and just do it again anyway
- Krer Grimpaw: Yes, but a year's time is enough time for those young ones to mature, since i figure most of the common problem makers that do things that would lead to the 6-12 month bans are under the age of 18
- rxg | SwitchView: But by doing it that way you're not giving them a chance to learn from there mistakes. They'll see there banned for a year and move on to another server not caring. And if they are young like 13-14 it's going to take more then a year for them to mature
- Krer Grimpaw: A kid can develop a lot in a year
- rxg | SwitchView: The maturity of a 13 yo and a 14 yo are not that drastic
- rxg | SwitchView: Why are you so curious about the way we run our community?
- Krer Grimpaw: Cause i had considered coming back, but it seems the status quo hasnt been shooken up enough in 8 months
- Krer Grimpaw: Were just going to be in a pissing match for hours if we keep this up
- rxg | SwitchView: Well, I wouldn't count on it changing any time soon, if ever. We've been this way since our founding, and we see no reason to change it. Not going to change a system that works
- Krer Grimpaw: Well then i will get in contact with RXG's IT manager and request my account be fully removed from the website. You would not happen to have the webmaster's email would you?
- rxg | SwitchView: We don't delete accounts, you can just not visit the forums anymore
- Krer Grimpaw: Im pretty sure i can legally request that my detail can be removed from the website unless stated in the EULA that you hold all rights to my information. Which i will now check
- rxg | SwitchView: This is a private forum run by a private organization, you have no rights on a website that we own
- Krer Grimpaw: Oh im going to have to get in contact with a lawyer aint i? Actually fuck it, Roker owns said 'company' right? Im going to request speaking to him about this
- rxg | SwitchView: Well firstly good luck getting ahold of Roker, and secondly if you feel it is worth your time and energy to contact a lawyer of something as trivial as this, which they can't even do anything about, then please feel free
- Krer Grimpaw: Oh i will, dont worry, I have plenty of time on my hands
- Krer Grimpaw is now Offline.
