- Should I replace these HDDs? SMART details provided
- Hello. Do think these disks are good to go or should they be replaced immediately?
- Finding myself in the middle of server admins (managed) saying that these drives are no good, and the DC that says these are just fine even if somewhat old.

- Well, Disk 1 appears to have over 6 years of use while Disk 2 is only about 15 days old? Seems like a drastically large difference. And the 15 day count seems low for a 750GB Drive but I guess someone may still be buying those...
- Why is the second one only connecting at 1.5Gb/s?

- Plan is to change disk 1 to a 750GB one like disk 2 with same power on count. No idea about 1.5Gb/s
- Frankly if the drive isn't giving you any issues and there's no errors recorded, AND you're planning on replacing the server, then replacing the drive is not really needed.
- In my experience, drives failures usually come early or not at all. Once they've lived a while, then they usually outlive their usefulness.

- Yes, you should replace both drives.
- Seagates fail pretty much constantly. So for that reason alone should be replaced.
- More specific to your drives, however:
- 187 Reported_Uncorrect 0x0032 099 099 --- Old_age Always - 1
- uncorrectable sectors, even one = replace drive
- 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 100 100 036 Pre-fail Always - 4
- reallocated sectors, even one = replace drive

- You should replace both drives asap, they are both Seagates which we have had nothing but complete problems with over the years to the point that we refuse to buy them at all and highly suggest that others also do the same.

- I agree!

- Just one Reallocated or Uncorrectable sector is the maximum threshold to replace a drive. The moment that number reaches '1' it is time to replace the drive. Yours have reached and actually passed that threshold.
- Given these are Seagates, further and more rapid degradation is likely to hit at a moments notice as a wall of bricks. Seagates are known to do that.
- Both HDDs are good to be replaced.
- You may run then as is, but if for any reason one of the 2 HDD does not work fine, you may experience slowness on the server that are not wanted.
- In addition to that, I doubt that the reported Power_On_Hours on "Disk 2" is right ... this is an old model. Maybe the value been reset.
- 56034 hours on Disk 1, it's too much for me ... this drive should be replaced just because it's getting too old.
- While you are there, I recommend to configure it as Raid1 too.
