Really Bad Dream I had one night

BEFORE THE FOLLOWING, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE NONE OF THE FOLLOWING ACTUALLY HAPENED IN REAL LIFE! IT WAS JUST SOME BAD DREAM I HAD ONE NIGHT. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK


This dream starts in a cafeteria. Ms Lyon has to leave her stand for a bit, so she asks me to take her spot for the time being. Later, some customer is so impressed by my performance that she legit asks if it's my stand. I was flattered, but I told her that it wasn't mine, but rather, Ms. Lyons. I know how painful it can be to have 5 years of your hard work being stolen by someone else claiming it's theirs, so that was flat out not an option. Some other customer does exactly that, by claiming the stand is theirs. My BS meter was already going through the roof at that point, so I asked what their name was, and the said it was Lyon, to try to convince me that it's theirs. Suffice to say, I knew they were just saying that to convince me that it's theirs, since I had just seen the person who it had actually belonged walk away, and this second customer wasn't even close to a look alike.

The next day I get notified that I'm in trouble, and the reason was so unbelievable, I threw a temper tantrum, something I haven't done in years. I was so furious as to how I could possibly be the one getting punished for calling out literal theft instead of the actual perpetrator. However, the reasoning for this would later come to light

A week later, me and my "leader" take a walk at Times Square, and he notices a guy with a military suit. He also notices me ignore him, and so he calls me out for not recognizing out heroes. Little did the both of us know, he was about to be called out for Stolen Valor, which is similar to the Ms Lyon's Stand incident, but with military experience. Again, I shouted "How was I supposed too know that! I came to enjoy a nice walk here, not be suspicious of every other person here. Thankfully, I didn't get punished about this, but that didn't stop me from giving him a little heat. Immediately, he apologizes and promises to never do it again after I tell him "Saying sorry doesn't matter so long as you do it again. This is the second time you've been caught giving me unreasonable callout, so you need to promise that this ends now!" And I kid you not, only a few minutes later, he not only repeats what he had just apologized for, but reveals his true colors in he process.

He exclaims "YO, I was telling my friends about this and their minds were BLOWN!"
I ask "what happened?"
He replies "I just got a World Record"
I ask "World Record in what"
He replies "A Flash game speedrun"
I reply "Oooh, thats awesome! I'm a flash game speedrunner myself, so I'm intrigued. Which flash game is this?"

As soon as he says Super Mario 63, I have decided I have had enough. I tell him "Your apology now means jack shit, aka nothing! I don't want to work with someone who stakes credit for something that is not theirs. Please Leave."

And so he leaves. I very quickly say "WAIT!". He stops.

I let him know that while the chance is as slim as ever, maybe I spoke too soon. Maybe he really did beat my 49:09 in sm63 100% as quickly as he had claimed, so I challenged him to a race of that category. I told him that if he can easily get a sub hour, that not only will I take back what I said about not working with him, I'll also invite you to the community.

And so, we race. I get a 50:16, and when I go to check his stream, I see he is still in Bob-Omb Battlefield. In the first SHINE of that stage. It was right there and then I knew he was a total fraud! I fiercely called him out saying the following...

"I normally don't criticize people for being bad at sm63, but this is the same person who has boasted about being way way better than the entire speedrunning community in private. He told me that he was at a loss of word for how he beat the world record so quickly, only to show me MY 49:09 run that I spent 5 years trying to get, and THAT is where I draw the line. This guy is 100% a fraud and a half if I've ever seen one."

After this, everyone understandably gets really upset with me, some even going as far as to privately harass me through twitch DMs telling me to "stop disrespecting the king of sm63, because he is way better than all of us". At that moment, I had just realized that this removes all doubt of what he told his friends. At first, I thought me may have meant to say "MY World Record" but this just about removes any sensible doubt I had going into this. He even has the AUDACITY to tell me to stop talking to him like this, after everything he has done. And yes, he was still claiming he was the WR Holder. Though he later changed that claim to my WR knowing that he's lying. Not that it mattered, since I took screenshots proving exactly what he told his friends, and yes there were more of them just like that.

And that's where that dream ends. If something like this happened in real life, I can't imagine myself acting much differently. Perhaps I wouldn't be willing to give the guy a second chance via a challenge to race sm63 100% to help prove himself, however, this is still a much better way to handle a situation like this, since the chance of what he's saying however small, is non-zero. Removing all doubt before accusing someone of anything is always better than accusing off a mere suspicion, no matter how high and how guilty.
