WE WERE ON A BREAK

Alexithymiaa: -Brad was sitting at the switcher with headphones looped over his ears trying his best to mix the new track he'd been given earlier this evening. He was haaving trouble focusing since him and Kelsey had done nothing, but fight over the last week and he was completely over it. And he hasnt gotten laid which doesnt help his sour mood.-
Covet: Kelsey was in the office doing her thing. Nancy had freed her of her duties for the night and she'd walked out to see Brad working at the switchboard. She paused for a moment and watched him, thinking about what her and her mom had talked about yesterday, in regards to the fighting and general issues between the two of them. She could feel her stomach sink for a moment and she pursed her lips. "Better now than every I guess. Not like things are going to get much worse." She said softly and went to sit down in the chair next to him, then reached out to touch his shoulder.
Alexithymiaa: -He flinched when she touched his shoulder since he hadn't heard her and wasnt paying much attention to anything other than trying to force himself to work. Pulling the headphones off, he let them hang around his neck and swiveled slightly to face her without craning his neck. "Hmm?"-
Covet: "Sorry to interupt you...are you doing something important right now?" She asked him in a soft tone.
Alexithymiaa: -He gave a halfhearted shrug, leaning back in his chair. "Not really. Deadline isn't for another week. Why?"-
Covet: "We need to talk, I just didn't want to do it if you were in the middle of something important." Kelsey told him then took a deep breath. " If that's okay..."
Alexithymiaa: "And what exactly do you want me to say?" He asked, instantly a little defensive because he just assumed she was priming for another fight.-
Covet: Kelsey furrowed her brow and looked at him, "Whatever you need to?" She said a little confused then took a breath, "I talked to my mom yesterday about everything going on."
Alexithymiaa: "What did she have to say about it?" He asked, honestly a little surprised she had told her mother everything.-
Covet: "I didn't tell her about the cocaine, exactly." Kelsey said softer, "I just told her that... I was doing things I shouldn't have been doing in order to keep my energy up and stay awake. She probably think it's caffiene pills or something."
Alexithymiaa: "What did she say, Kelsey?" He spoke a little firmer, trying not to be annoyed that she was beating around the bush so much. He just wanted to know if he 'won'.-
Covet: "She said...that if we're having a hard time getting along for whatever reason, that maybe Connor is right..." Kelsey said to Brad trailing off, because she knew he wasn't going to like what she had to say, because she didn't really like it all that much either.
Alexithymiaa: "Right about what? He told me to stop being mean the other night." He said blandly, not too keen on the idea of obeying a five year old regardless of what he was saying.-
Covet: "Yeah...He said... we need a time out. I tried to tell him that adults don't really have timeouts, but...Mom said he might be on to something." She told him, staring down at her hands rubbing over each other in her lap.
Alexithymiaa: "A time out? You really think if we just go into our own corners that all of our problems would be solved?" He asked sharply, not really getting what she was talking about.-
Covet: "We don't exactly have sepperate corners here, Bradly." She said flatly, "Because this constant back and forth bickering and fighting is solving anything?" Kelsey rolled her eyes. "Time out for adults is taking a break." She said because she wasn't going to wait for him to get there on his own.
Alexithymiaa: "A break from what?" He asked, still a little slow here. "We don't really have time for this."-
Covet: "A break from each other!" She said with a huff. "Why is it a five year old can grasp that but you can't." Kelsey rolled her eyes. "We don't have time for what exactly?" She added with a snap.
Alexithymiaa: "A break from EACH OTHER?" He asked now that she spoon fed it to him. "I was talking about a break from work. You don't want to be with me anymore?"-
Covet: "I do. I just don't want to be with you when we're like this." Kelsey said, tucking her hair behind her ear, "There's obviously a lot of stuff you're holding against me, and I'm holding against myself, and I just need a break from everything to kind of... refocus myself. Especially before the tour next summer."
Alexithymiaa: "And how long is this supposed to last?" He stammered, staring intently at her face. "And what happens if we take a break and you decide you just like it better not dealing with me?"-
Covet: "I don't know, but I dont' want to do anything until after the album release and the holidays. It's going to be tough, to hold us together until then, but I was thinking, maybe after New years, I'd stay in New York for a little while. A few weeks." Kelsey told him. "Bradley... this isn't about not wanting to be with you. This is about...needing to focus being a better me, so I can be better for you and Connor."
Alexithymiaa: "You're just going to stay in New York for a few weeks? Are you taking Connor with you?" He asked quickly, feeling the panic rise up in his throat because it sort of felt like she was abandoning him and taking Connor too.-
Covet: "I don't know yet. Mom said she'd keep him if we needed. I told her I didn't just want to dump him on you while I'm gone. That doesn't seem right either." Kelsey said in a soft tone.
Alexithymiaa: "You can dump him on me. Because you wouldn't be dumping him on me. I'd be taking care of him just the same as I've been doing forever now. I know I'm not his actual dad, but I am. And you running off to New York isnt going to change that."-
Covet: Kelsey felt her eyes water up. "Are you sure? Because... I can't...I can't take that from Connor. Not after everything with Jason...you've been the best thing for him, and he doesn't deserve to suffer losing you because I messed up." She said trying to wipe her eyes. "Is it going to be okay...if it winds up being that long?"
Alexithymiaa: "It's not going to be any different than it is now, except it's the two of us instead of the three of us. I don't want him to go anywhere else. That would be complete bullshit."-
Covet: "Okay. If you're okay with it. One hundred percent, then I'll leave that alone. We can just tell him I'm away for work or something." Kelsey said. "I don't intend to being doing anything I'm not supposed to either, I can talk to Bryan and he can verify and make sure I'm behaving too if that's something you're worried about."
Alexithymiaa: "You're going to tell Bryan the whole story? Like... everything? Because I dont think that's a very good idea. He's kind of a huge douchebag and he's just going to make shit worse for you."-
Covet: "I am. Because he might be a douchebag to everyone else, but Bryan's never been anything but straight forward with me. At least when it comes to the serious stuff. I trust that he isn't going to say anything to anyone, in order for his own benefit." Kelsey said nodding her head.
Alexithymiaa: -He let out a deep sigh, aadjusting the beanie on his head. "I guess if that's what you want to do, I'm not going to stop you. I just dont think Bryan is the one person I would trust to be decent about it."-
Covet: "I don't think... decent is what I necessarily need. I need someone who's non-biased, and will just remind me to keep straight." Kelsey said. "I understand that you're trying to help, but there's too much, emotion between us and that keeps getting in the way. Then there's Connor too."
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah, I guess..." He looked down at his feet, nodding his head. "You've already made up your mind, havent you?"-
Covet: "For now. Since Connor said something the other night, I couldn't get the thought out of my head. So... I bounced it off my mom and she thinks that you being my lover and warden is a terrible idea, because it will just brew contempt between us. And... I hate to say she's right, but the last week alone speaks truth to what she said."
Alexithymiaa: "It doesnt really feel like you gave me much of a choice though. That's not my fault." He said defensively.0
Covet: "I.. I know. I'm not saying it is your fault. If it's anyone's, it's mine." Kelsey said. "I accept that."
Alexithymiaa: "Okay well..." He paused, trying to mull over his thoughts. "What are we supposed to do until then?"-
Covet: "Take it one day at a time." Kelsey said, "That's all we really can do. I don't want to be continuiously angry at you, especially not in front of Connor."
Alexithymiaa: "Right. If course. So... we'll just... walk. I guess." He didnt know how else to put it other than he felt like he'd been running in circles lately.-
Covet: "Yeah. I'll do my best to cool off on you too. If you can trust me at least a little bit, to keep doing the right things." Kelsey said, looking at him.
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah, sure. I guess." He sort of waved it off since he didnt actually trust her yet, but he was just going to go along with whatever this plan was.-
Covet: "Okay..." Kelsey said not really sure how to take his answer. "I'm going to go home, make sure Connor's in bed. I'll see you there later..." She told him trailing off before she got up and went to leave.
Alexithymiaa: "Okay. I just waant to finish up here." He said to her, shifting his headphones back onto his ears so he could keep working.-
