An act to amend the Regional Traditions Act, 2017.

I. Pretext

(1) In recognition of the great value of regional titles and honours in pursuit of the goal of cultural enrichment, the Council of Scribes resolves to further encourage their bestowment by empowering itself to take the initiative in honouring outstanding members of the community.

(2) To this effect, the functional intent of this resolution is to shift the power of bestowment of regional honours from the Pharaoh to the Council.

II. On Authority To Bestow Honours

(1) Article I, section 1 will be amended to read: The Council of Scribes may, on behalf of the regional community, grant honors to any person to recognize outstanding service to the regional community by resolution. Such honors will not confer any political or governmental role or benefit. The Council may rescind regional honors.

(2) Article I, section 2 will be amended to read: "The Council may grant the following regional honors:"

(3) Article I, section 3 will be amended to read: "Regional honors granted under Article IV, Section 1 of the Legal Code of the Osiris Fraternal Order, in force under the Scroll of Ma'at, will remain in effect unless rescinded by the Council."

(4) Article I will be amended to add a fourth section, reading thus: "The Council may create new regional honors by way of resolution."
