- from /hhg/ Helluva Hotel general #679
- ----------
- Vaggie and Angel make such a cute fking couple.
- Viv is dumb for breaking the two of them up.
- -
- I dunno. I wasn't around for them being together, so it just looks weird with what we have now. Why would a prn star go for a spic goth sht that died like 7 years ago?
- -
- I don't think he was a prn star originally. I might be wrong.
- -
- Angel wasn't a prn star and she wasn't a spic either iirc. They were practically different characters.
- Angel's whole gimmick was being gross, for example.
- Before she figured out people wanted to fk him.
- -
- Angel was still a sx fiend even back then; the reason he was gross was because he was a huge insane spider who drooled black ichor and made everything about sx.
- -
- Is there a full comic anywhere?
- -
- I don't know, probably not though. I'm pretty sure what little I do have (and can't remember where I got it from) was just some sort of preview for the Hazbin Hotel that was never to be.
- -
- She gets memed a lot for it, but I genuinely love Viv's old, edgy style.
- -
- I do too, it's great imo
- -
- It's never really bothered me either, other than the fact that the backgrounds are often nonexistant. To me its just like "okay this person probably likes Tim Burton movies and they're fairly early in their drawing career" and then I move on with my day. Then again, my village has been experiencing a severe fk famine ever since the harvest failed and I have precious few fks to give about such things. I do find it interesting in the context of Angel Dust in particular though. His overall design hasn't changed too drastically since its inception; basically all they've done is brighten his color palette so its more of a straight up pink and white instead of the dull, washed out used-to-be-pink-but-was-in-a-smoker's-home-for-a-decade and was-white-at-one-point-but-I-started-wearing-it-to-the-gym. His chest fluff was redesigned so that its more of a cushion and less of a strip of old shag carpet, and his posture was changed so that he's no longer hunched over all the time. Somehow that's all it took to make him a sx icon instead of an object of sxual horror.

- bruh
- I hope things get better for you anon

- Here’s a question. Have any characters in your opinions anons, changed for the better or worse as the ideas for Hazbin evolved from whatever the thing before it was (I don’t remember the name)?
- >Angel/Vaggie being a couple
- >Cherri initially being Angel’s daughter
- >That weird thing where Alastor was a Deer if that ever was a thing?
- -
- Vaggie going from being Angel's girlfriend to Charlie's is kind of a lateral move imo. As far as I can tell Vaggie has always been a straightman character whose buttons were pretty easy to push. With Angel/Vaggie it looks like it was going to be Angel deliberately teasing his girlfriend with his antics in a playful sort of way, as opposed to now where he's just trying to pis her off. With Charlie/Vaggie, Vaggie is still the straightman, but Charlie's pushing of her buttons is just Charlie being a naively optimistic sweetie pie who unintentionally sets off her much more cynical girlfriend with her highschool musical bullsht, she's not doing it intentionally. As an aside, the changes to Charlie's character I would call a straight up improvement, having her be the princess of hell and not just some rando who died in the 1800s makes her much more central to the universe and will hopefully give us a better perspective on this universe's version of hell.
- Cherri being Angel's daughter is really only compelling in the context of her having gone to heaven when she died and becoming an exterminator angel, whereas her old man ended up in hell, seemingly totally unrepentant. That opens the door for a LOT of character drama and complex backgrounds. Even if our little "Angel was forced into a loveless marriage" stories were true, Cherri being Angel's daughter in the context of them both ending up in hell would mainly be a "gee whiz I'm an even bigger fkup than I realized, my own daughter died young and is just as damned as I am" guilt-trip thing.
- Alastor being a literal magic deer is a nonstarter for me. It only matters in the context of there being other magical deer like there were in Zoophobia. He seems like he was some kind of extra-dangerous trickster god toward the various season-themed deerbois who were going to make an appearance in that. Now that those are all out the window, he's pretty much a completely different character with some of the same design.
