- The Southern Lands, once long ago known as the kingdom of Hunkul Che', was a land rich with agriculture and powerful armies. The first contact between the great civilizations of the southern lands and the kingdoms of Nefetria came about during the first age, when people fleeing south from the demon armies found people fleeing north into the desert to escape a similar fate. In the southern lands, Apophis had set against them great scaled lizards with wings, and on their tongues the power and essence of magic. These monsters, now called Dragons, were successfully wiped from the surface of their world, for though they were as powerful as the great demon lords of the North lands, they lacked the patience and cunning to defeat the humans who rose against them. Eventually, the last of them was sealed away in a deep darkness, never to be disturbed again.
- Of interest to most scholars and historians is the methods used to defeat the dragons of the south. It was the elf Tatenen who created what today is known as wizardry, and it would be several generations before the magics of the North were taught to those who lived in the southern lands. Instead, a famous clan linked so a very esoteric art of spell casting stepped forward to seal away the beasts along side the armies of the past. The clan is lost to time, and is believed to reside somewhere along the border of the tropical savannas that line the eastern coast and the great rain forest. However certain scholars reject these ideas, believing there is a lack of evidence to these claims, and that much of it may be folklore of what were actually wizards from the north who defected to the south and ended up joining their war movement.

- In the end, what brought ruin to the empires of Hunkul Che' were not monsters or war, but instead the destruction of the geopolitical landscape of the nations. Issues in economics, several peasant uprisings, and a corrupt government brought down one major kingdom after another. In the end, while the death toll overall was not high, the destabilization of government clashed harshly with the kingdoms of Nefetria's views on the importance of law and order. Thus, most communication and aid to them was cut off. Because of this, current knowledge of the southern lands is incredibly low, and most communication between them and the higher ups in the north still interested in keeping tabs on them comes from word of mouth of merchants who brave the harsh desert to the south to trade between the nations.
