- *Only recommended if you know your way around custom ROMs, officially these phones were never updated past 6.0.1 Marshmallow and the manufacturer's Android skin is pretty awful.
- Q: I'm in the US, do chinkphones work here?
- A: Most chinkphones lack the necessary network bands to work properly with US carriers. There are a few exceptions:
- -Global versions of Xiaomi phones have partial or full support for certain US GSM carriers (Mi Mix 2 and Mix 2S also for Verizon)
- -US versions of LeEco phones have full support for US GSM carriers
- -Oneplus 6, 5/5T and US versions of 3/3T have full support for US GSM carriers
- Q: What's wrong with Mediatek?
- A: Software support. Phones with Mediatek will less likely receive firmware updates from the manufacturer, or have custom ROMs made for them. Most Mediatek chinkphones will never be updated from the Android version they launched with. Performance and power efficiency is also often worse than on equivalent Snapdragon SoCs.
