- Redo of the Spear Hero
- Silt Welt Arc
- 436: Silt Welt
- =================
- "I do?"
- "Silt Welt is a country that worships the Hero of the Shield who is known to favor demi-humans, their national religion is that of the Shield Faith. So Iwatani-dono, you are akin to a god in these lands."
- Father-in-law looks absolutely bewildered.
- "What's the matter?"
- "No well, kinda thought you might know something Motoyasu-kun. Do you?"
- "Even if you ask me, Father-in-law of the future never said anything about coming to this country"
- "Ah, yeah nevermind"
- Exactly.
- To the extent of my knowledge, the countries visited by Father-in-law can be counted on my fingers.
- First, there's Melromarc, Zeltbur, Faubley, and some small countries neighboring Melromarc.
- Then would be the country that was made the location of our battle with the Houou battle.
- ...Huh? I know I've fought with the Houou before, but my memory seems ambiguous.
- If we never fought the Houou, then we couldn't have fought the Qilin that appeared in Faubley either.
- Furthermore, we couldn't have used the twelve strengthening methods from the Four Legendary Weapons and the Sever Star Weapons if that were the case.
- Huh? 4 + 7 makes 11 right?
- Hmm, my memory seems to be lacking somewhat.
- "Kitamura-dono, I recall you've mentioned that he was essentially acting in Melromarc, where he would succeed my father's domain and grandly revive it among other things..."
- "That's right"
- "Though I wish for such a future, you did say he walked a path of cruel mistreatment to achieve it... Iwatani-dono, I cannot wish you such a future. So I shall attempt the the revival myself"
- "Eclaire-san... Yeah. You can definitely do it"
- "That's very reassuring of you Iwatani-dono. Once we qwell these Waves and the world returns to peace, I shall take it upon myself to govern that territory"
- Eclair looked to the sky with eyes teeming in a newfound resolve.
- And in such and such, we arrived at the castle in Silt Welt.
- The structure looks... How should I say.
- There's the ever-present China-style feel, but it was stone-built and had a middle-ages aesthetic as well.
- The castle in Melromarc is pretty tall and wide itself, but this one isn't falling behind in those respects.
- But the doors, gates and bridges were all comparatively large, and some areas had vines growing.
- The place is full of beastkin, and the wild-like aspect of it would be what's most striking.
- "Welcome, honorable Heroes of the Shield and Spear, you all must be tired after the long journey"
- We were guided to the throne room upon arrival.
- "I am Valnar, acting as representative of the Shusaku clan. A pleasure to make your acquaintance"
- Shusaku... I remember hearing they're a famous race amongst the demi-humans.
- Hakuko, Shusaku, Aotatsu, Genmu, should be the four?[Note 1]
- =================
- *Note 1: You can find these on the (http://the-rising-of-the-shield-hero.wikia.com/wiki/Demi-Human)[Wikia] if you don't remember. I know I didn't~
- =================
- I have a feeling there were those calling themselves of the Hakuko clan amongst Father-in-law of the future's subordinates... But I wasn't too familiar with them.
- I only knew their faces, that's it.
- "N-nice to meet you too... My name is Iwatani Naofumi, I was summoned as the Hero of the Shield. Best Regards"
- "The Love Hunter! I'm Kitamura Motoyasu!"
- "Motoyasu-kun, you gotta say you're the Spear Hero or they'll misunderstand alright?"
- "Will they now? Then let's go with Spear Hero"
- "What do you mean *let's go with*!?"
- The man from the Shusaku clan kept staring astonished.
- "Pleasure to meet you too. And..."
- The Shusaku man now addressed Eclair.
- "May you be the young lady of the Seaette house?"
- "Yes! I am Eclaire Seaette. I have taken upon the role of guarding the Hero of the Shield in place of my late father"
- "You've done a great justice making this perilous journey here. I am also truly thankful for your precarious efforts towards ending discrimination of demi-humans in Melromarc"
- "Not at all, I only did what was right"
- Eclair took a deep bow.
- I don't know very much about it, but Melromarc seems to be exploiting demi-humans as slaves.
- But the story goes that their relations with demi-human countries were ameliorated by Father-in-law's efforts and through the achievements of Eclair's father.
- "Heyy Naofumi, Sakura's so bored~"
- "Sakura-chan. Please bear with it a bit more"
- "Okay~"
- A harmonious dialogue betwixt Father-in-law and Sakura-chan.
- "Would those be people you've made comrades along the journey?"
- "Well uh..."
- "They're three glorious Filorial!"
- Father-in-law seemed to be having difficulty choosing words so I stepped forward and declared it loud.
- I, Motoyasu, *cannot* bear to have a miscommunication of the fact.
- "Pardon me? Filorial?"
- "Yes. We have confirmed this with our own eyes. Before we entered into the castle, these ones here had the appearance of Filorial... No, of the legendary divine bird"
- "Perfect timing! Flourish your true forms everyone"
- As per my instructions, Yuki-chan, Kou and Sakura-chan poofed into their Filorial figures.
- Witnessing the magnificence, the Shusaku man took a step back even.
- "I-Indeed... having legendary Filorial are all the more reassuring"
- "So we just have to work on to suppress the Wave in this country right?"
- Father-in-law got right into the bouillon of the matter.
- "You've had a long journey, so before that, we were thinking you could rest your tired bodies"
- "Ah, sure. Then we'll take you up on that offer"
- And so we were guided into the rooms Silt Welt had prepared for us.
- It was frustrating that Father-in-law had a room separate from mine, but Sakura-chan would act as his guard so I restrained myself.
- Father-in-law doesn't seem to dislike Sakura-chan being there either.
- I'm counting on you my girl.
- "Ah, Motoyasu-kun"
- Yuki-chan and the others were resting in their rooms when Father-in-law came knocking at door.
- "What's the matter?"
- "No well, you've been helping us out all this time, I kinda wanted to thank you again"
- "What is this now. Father-in-law, you and I have no need for such formalities"
- "Sure. I know that but still... thanks."
- Father-in-law sure is proper with his manners.
- "And there's a lot of little stuff I was curious about, so I wanted to go over those a bit"
- "Little things meaning?"
- "Let's not stand at the door and talk inside. And we should also be careful not to let Sakura-chan, Kou and Yuki-chan eavesdrop"
- "Understood. So what might this talk be?"
- "No well, we've been getting targeted religious factions right? So I was thinking that sort of stuff could happen here in Silt Welt too"
- It isn't an unfounded premise.
- Now that I think about it, the people of this world give the impression that they see the Heroes in a strange image.
- We know for a fact that the Three Heroes Church are scum and heretics, but if you ask me if the other religions are well-founded, I, Motoyasu, wouldn't know the answer.
- There are holes in the future events that I know of, and I haven't a clue what sort of country Silt Welt is, being that it worships the Hero of the Shield.
- "My apologies, I hadn't come to this country in the future, so I don't know"
- "Oh yeah. Guess that's why you haven't been warning me of stuff here"
- "I see, that may be"
- "Yeah Motoyasu-kun, you teach me lots of good stuff, but you don't look like you can remember them if I don't ask. I don't want to take many chances you see"
- Father-in-law had believed me about him dying in the past, and is putting in the effort to not die from now on.
- Meaning the only thing I, Motoyasu, can do here, is put all my power into protecting Father-in-law.
- "Let's try talking about probable stuff. Like in novels or manga, you get cases where Heroes are given social position and kept on a payroll right?"
- "They have stories like that?"
- "Eh? Ah—... So I guess you're not one of our ilk huh, Motoyasu-kun?"
- What might this ilk be I wonder?
- I, Motoyasu, am unfortunately unfamiliar with such subjects unless we speak of a certain sect of online games.
- Though there was that console game, Misgaea, which got me hooked into angels and such, that was a great game.[Note 2]
- =================
- *Note 2: Misgaea is a parody of Disgaea, That's the TLDR of it. I didn't recall if it was mentioned in any previous chapters, so I kinda searched for similar stuff in all the TLed chapters. No results. Then I went and searched the term in literally all the previous raw chapters. 1 hit. Went back to that chapter in that translated ones... the term was paraphrased away! But it *is* related to Disgaea apparently, so I named it as such. Incidentally, Disgaea is Makai Senki, while this is Makai Daichi in jap. idk... I spend too much time researching this stuff lol
- =================
- The only reason I ended up playing this Misgaea was because of an impulse buy from seeing the cover.
- Thinking about it now, perhaps it was my fate to meet Firo-tan and all the beautiful Filorial even before becoming a Hero.
- I, Motoyasu, am moved to tears in expectation of what fate may yet bring about.
- "And I don't know a thing about what kind of life you lead in the modern society of your world..."
- "In my highschool days I spent all my time chasing after pigs"
- "Err... I don't think we talked too deeply about, but you got so bad a trauma from women that the Filorial called Firo that I was raising had to get you out of it?"
- "That's wrong. Firo-tan helped me realize the true nature of love"
- "Right, that. So uh... let's get back on track. Before that, you were living okay with those pigs, right?"
- "Yes unfortunately. Now that I recall, a lot happened back in those days, it was all very shameful"
- "Uh-huh... Any examples?"
- Hum, an examples.
- I absolutely despise having to remember about those filthy pigs, but since it's Father-in-law's request, I shall recollect.
- The first few such events should be around my middleschool days.
- In those days I used to walk head held high in my false bliss.
- Let's start...
- "Both my parents had gone out of the country for work, and as a middleschooler, I spend most of my time alone at home"
