  1. Role Play Testing
  2.
  3. Once a biography is approved, you will be subjected to a role-play test that will test you on your grammar and spelling skills as well as your ability to be clear in your writing. You will take the test with Passionate Shadow. Once your test is finished, you will be judged by a select few members to see if you qualify and meet out criteria. Once you pass the role-play test and are considered or proven to be a meritorious, model of moral, you will no longer be required to take a role-play test.
  4.
  5. Below is a list of those that who have passed the role-playing test.

  32. Ongoing Punishments: When a kid is grounded, or on punishment, they are expected to try to comply with it. When, at any point that there is not a top online, a character lights off for parts unknown, that is an indication of an incorrigible character. One that will end up in boarding school, without home visits for the holidays. This doesn’t mean it is impossible to get in more trouble, but frankly, continuing to toss dirt over your shoulder when you have dug a grave halfway to china is just stupid. Also, If something has been a problem for your character, such as eating right, and one of your guardians takes note of it and, for instance, makes you sit down to eat breakfast every day, the one day that person is not on is NOT an excuse to say it did not happen. There are flexible times, true, but fighting the same battle over and over again is, frankly, boring for the adult’s player in many cases. Talk it over player to player if you have some scheme to mix things up, but otherwise one can assume that the action is ongoing and daily.

  37. School: Everyone is expected to perform to the best of their ability. Taking an easy schedule
  38.
  39.
  40. Spanking privileges: These are NOT automatic. A teen has to both show the responsibility to be trusted with keeping the younger kids in line, and be willing to do it. As this is an extra responsibility, there is a substantial increase in one's allowance owing to the increased responsibility. This is generally enough to handle paying for gas and car insurance, with some additional left over. Or in the case of younger or careless teens, if carefully saved can be a way to make sure one has the money to buy your first car. Not a new one, mind you, or even vaguely new, but reliable, and most importantly… YOURS! This is not to say that gross stupidity can't lose you driving privileges anyway, but it comes down to the question: what is worse, dealing with the brats, or trying to find a job outside the home. Abusing ones spanking/diapering privileges is a serious matter, however. The reason to spank/diaper is to teach a lesson, not to get your mad out, or amuse yourself. The lesson may be: “don't be such an annoying little brat” but if you are angry, send them to the corner for a while you calm down. Punishing privileges are just that, a privilege, and one that can be revoked if necessary. And one's victim(s) will be witnesses, perhaps even participants in your punishment. We understand that nobody's perfect and one mistake won't lose one the position of trust you have earned, but when your conduct is discussed with you, you had better show some improvement if you want to keep earning the extra money. Another important note is the awkwardness that can occur when 2 kids close in age end up disciplining each other. So if the punish-ee is within 2 years or 2 grades of the punisher. They DO have the right to refuse and have it taken up with one of the household guardians. Many do not take this option, as it usually means a harsher punishment, but the option is there.
  41.
  42.
  43. Chores: Kids are at least expected to keep a clean room. As they get older, more gets added on a rotating basis, such that they can usually be done by a character whose player is not on at the moment, but there are lawns to be mowed, dishes to be washed, animals to feed/brush/care for, laundry to do, etc. Please try to be patient with any little ‘helpers.’ We all know how sometimes the help of a kid can double the length of time things take. Note I said ‘Try.’ It is not required you succeed in tolerating pesky little brothers whose purpose in life is to annoy you.
  44.
  45.
  46. General behavior: Please and thank you are important, and often overlooked parts of socialization. So is the ability to use strange words like ‘sir’ and ‘ma’am.’ We aren't psychos about it, but adults are to be addressed with respect. Disrespect is a sign of a bad attitude, and we all know how attitudes get adjusted. Also, a few basics were once considered to be common sense, but the adults know better by now. No fighting, at least without a damn good reason. No drawing on the walls. Try to use inside voices inside. No running in the house. No playing ball or rough games in the house. No swearing and ABSOLUTELY no lying.
  47.
  48. Tattoos and piercings: Ask a GM.

  52.
  53. Character Usage and Limits.
  54.
  55. The Character Usage Rule has now been updated for two separate categories, Tops and Bottoms. It has now been seen as necessary to distinguish between the two in cases of tops not being used or bottoms not being used despite a character of a different type still being used. To be as specific as possible, if you have at least one top character and at least one bottom character, but only use your tops or bottoms, we will call this out and either ask you to change this fact or delete this character. This will also still apply even if you only have bottom(s) or top(s). If you aren’t active with at least one in each category, they will be taken down. Like before, extraneous real-life situations will not apply, especially given ample warning beforehand, and if you come back with a properly valid reason, the GMs will accept it.
  56. *A reasonable amount of activity is three to five times a month at minimum
  57.
  58.
  59. Additionally, you may not create more than 5 non-adult characters.
  60.
  61. This has been a problem in the past. Creating quirky and gimmicky characters to just throw them away once the appeal wears off, and never use them again. Please put some thought into the longevity of your character.
  62.
  63. Old characters may be deleted to make room for new ones, but this should be very rare.
  64.

  69. Setting Basics
  70.
  71. Place: This game happens in Erehwon. Where is that you ask? Well, it's a small country not too far off from America, but you'll learn more about that later. The climate is temperate, snowy in winter, hot in summer, fairly wet autumns. Nearby, within biking distance of the house, are several parks and lakes, and the beach is an hour dive away.
  72.
  73.
  74. Culture: A blend of Japanese and American with a sprinkling of European tossed in for foods and such. The cultural conventions can get a little tricky to navigate. Either honorifics or western conventions are acceptable, but generally a given person settles down to using one set or the other.
  75.
  76. Other aspects are equally mixed from Nudity taboos through bathroom setups. The way this works out in the house, is that you are expected to have something at least covering your swimsuit area if you are heading down out of the dormitory wings. Preferably wearing more than boxers or a bra and panties. Everyone has a house robe or 2, using them is strongly suggested.
  77.
  78.
  79. Holidays:
  80.
  81. Age of consent: if you ever want to get away with anything.
  82.
  83.
  84.
  85.
  86. Substance abuse: Bad plan kids, don’t do it. Not if you like your freedom. For older teens, a bit of supervised drinking might be allowed, depending on the individual. Please note the word ‘supervised.’ In this case that means by one of your designated guardians here in the house, no one else and definitely, not your friend’s big brother. Smoking anything is right out. Any recreational drugs are strongly discouraged by the players, as they are an immediate ticket to a lofty punishment.
  87.
  88.
  89. Drinking age: The legal age of drinking is eighteen here in Erehwon and, as noted above, teenagers might be allowed the occasional glass of wine with dinner. However, drinking underage and without permission is a bad offense and something you do not want to do while under the care of the Althaia family.
  90.
  91.
  92. Truancy, aka skipping school: Repeated absenteeism can result in suspension or even expulsion. This will result in home schooling of a rather more strict nature than what is done for kids that cannot go to school for one reason or another. If you thought your teachers were bastards, they have nothing on what you will be dealing with if expelled. Think morning and night spankings, plus any you earn for additional naughtiness. Most of these will be handled off camera, so as to not allow any one player to wear out/monopolize the tops.
  93.
  94.
  95.
  96.
  97. Child Abuse: This is not rated on some hard and fast rule on how long a mark lingers. Rather, it will concern itself with the atmosphere of fear, the randomness, the possibility of drinking involved, and that sort of thing. A harsh punishment, even one that bruises, is not necessarily abuse, but it does need to be done in a context of correction and, where possible, love, rather than in anger. A lot of abuse is psychological, after all, and that is the aspect that gets the authorities to remove kids from homes.
  98.

  101. Character Creation Guidelines
  102.
  103. NO magical powers without a damn good reason, expect to be squashed. This is anything from actual spells, to psychic abilities, to freaky super martial arts.
  104.
  105.
  106. Special talents, like an aptitude for something, being EXCEEDINGLY good at something or other even, are okay, but there are limits. No six year olds hacking governmental agencies, or preteens with college degrees. The watchword here is ‘reasonable.’ This isn't to say you can't be better than any real world person could be expected to be at something, but don't go overboard with it.
  107.
  108.
  109. General Wankerness: Please don't do it. Please. Getting in trouble for the same thing over and over will end up with you being banned, or at very least getting put on probation, which involves you not being able to roleplay if Samiel, Ciel, or I am not here and if you do not ask us first. If your character has a hard time overcoming something, at least show some progress. Swearing problem? Try starting to say the word, and aborting, i.e. “shi-oot. Shoot. I said shoot!” until they slip, but slip less and less frequently. That sort of thing. The truly unrepentant characters that are totally unwilling to show progress will be sent away to a special boarding school, and out of the RP, until such time as those of us that run it are convinced you have changed. This is even harder to do than it sounds.
  110.
  111. Not only this, but your character should act roughly their age. A seven year old should talk and act someone roughly around their age. A ten year old shouldn't have ungodly pain tolerance. In fact, just avoid ungodly pain tolerance at all. I know that common sense isn't exactly common, but unless the kids are from a crazy abusive household, they should know to ask for things, what is acceptable and not acceptable, how to address adults, and things along that line. A kid would know to not make a huge mess without making a huge mess.
  112.
  113. Also, when making a character, I'd love to heavily stress and impress upon you to give your character room to grow. Stagnating characters gets boring to play with, if it doesn't get boring for you to play with. I like to see when characters grow and develop.
  114.
  115. Teens CAN be caregivers as well as charges, but this is not a requirement. See household guidelines and rules for details.
  116.
  117.
  118. Adult Characters are a bit looser, but not a lot. Kakashi need not apply. Try to keep it within sanity, and make sure your idea is someone a person in their right mind would actually allow near their kids. Patience and firmness are both suggested virtues, but not absolute.
  119.
  120.
  121. Bios: One thing to keep in mind is you can add to it later. In fact, you will probably have to in order to keep it accurate as you get to know your character. It is bits of data, not a stone tablet, and the first few weeks or months of playing a character can really gel things in your mind concerning background, personality, interests, and everything else.
  122.
  123. Additionally, I can be a resource for helping flesh out a notion. Given a starting point, I will launch possibilities at you till one of them suits you or I inspire you to think of your own scenario.
  124.
  125. Also, while the Bio is a perfectly fine place to put everything, if one is feeling more secretive, you can send me a PM with additional details that would be found in the file that floats around with every kid in the system. It will be shared with the other adult character players, but it has to stop there. And over the topness is just as deniable there as elsewhere, though I am even more likely to work with someone to tweak possible problems out of the way than I am with basic concepts. If the concept is good, it is worth saving.
  126.
  127. Your bio should contain, at the minimum, the following bits of information: age, gender, height, weight, hair and eye color, skin tone, whether the character is a homo sapien or a mimi – specifying the type of mimi if applicable, academic aptitudes and/or placement for kids, field of expertise/role in the household for adults, basic history, and a basic outline of their personality. Helpful, both to you and to other players, and definitely stuff likely to change as the character gets played: Interests, hobbies, pet peeves, goals – long or short term, relationship with any surviving relatives or other non player characters, especially important possessions, and any other little quirks you can think of.
  128.
  129. Look at other bios for ideas of formatting conventions, and if uncertain about anything, please ask. Just remember that it is not a competition for who has the weirdest character, but a cooperative venture between us all. To put it another way, all the freaky plastic surgery in the world, or strange little oddities cannot make up for a poorly thought out character. No worries. That part about cooperation applies here too. This also applies to background stories, too.

  139. Spirit Energy (霊気, Reiki) or Aura in the Viz Manga is the energy possessed by all humans. It is very powerful if used correctly, and can be wielded by any spiritually aware human. However, the strength of the energy varies between persons. It is unique from person to person as fingerprints and voiceprints. Energy can be converted into weapons of pure energy, used to enhance the strength of body parts, as well as healing.

  145. Demon Energy (妖気, Yōki) or Demonic Aura in the Viz Manga is harnessed only by demons. Its strength varies greatly on the user, but is often more potent than spirit energy, due to demons usually possessing far greater amounts of energy than humans.
