  5. I will concede the point that, given the relative closeness of their dates of death, it is quite possible that Alastor and Angel may have crossed paths or at least been in the same room at some point in life, but this is some nonsensical gay-ass OOC sht right here so...........par for the course around here, carry on.
  6. -
  7. We know that Angel died in 1947, and Alastor died in 1933. They were both in their 30's when they died, I'll assume they died exactly at the age of 30 for the sake of argument.
  8.
  9. Angel would have been born in 1917, whereas Alastor would've been born in 1903. Taking the minimum time of being alive for 30 years, we can assume that Alastor and Angel would have both been alive at the same time for 16 years.
  10.
  11. Of course this can go all out the window because its possible that Angel was born in 1907 and Alastor is born in 1903, assuming that Angel died just prior to his 40th birthday and Alastor died shortly after his 30th birthday.
  12.
  13. However considering Angel lived in New York and Alastor in New Orleans, there's little possibility of any crossover in their lives. At most maybe Alastor travelled to New York for a few days for a business trip, but anything more than the two of them coincidently standing in the same room rapidly reaches cringe fanfiction territory.
  14.
  15. Would it have even been possible for a New York resident to hear a radio show from New Orleans in the 30's? The only possible way Angel could've heard of Alastor is if he listened to one of his radio shows

  17. The travel is the crux of my argument in favor of them meeting. Mafiosos travel a good deal for "business" and Alastor speaks with a mid-atlantic accent, characteristic of relatively wealthy people of his time period, the kind who would send their kids off to boarding school or just travel for pleasure when they had the time. I'm thinking that realistically they would have passed each other on the platform at a train station, one of them a child and the other a young man, neither really thinking about the other.

  19. Isn't Alastor a poor person posing as a wealthy one?
  20. -
  21. Alastor was a Radio Host, and that's all we know.
  22.
  23. One "popular" fan theory is he was born into a poor household where his Father was abusive towards his Mother and himself.
  24.
  25. The other theory, and the one I subscribe towards, is he was born into a wealthier family, either upper or upper-middle class.
  26.
  27. Considering his mid-atlantic accent which was wildly popular among the American upper class and entertainment industry before WW2, I think this supports the idea he came from a wealthy family.
  28.
  29. A serial killer coming from a background of privilage and good background seems a bit more interesting than a serial killer motivated by daddy issues and a lack of wealth.
  30. -
  31. I mean he could have daddy issues even if he was rich. To me, getting triggered to kick it up into savage cannibalistic murder mode at the site of a big bad bully picking on a meek lady says "revenge fantasy" and "mission-oriented serial killer" to me. He kills people that remind him of his shtty douchebg dad because he never got to mutilate his actual dad when he was alive.
  32. -
  33. Parental issues are like the cause of most irl serial killers it seems

  36. Many serial killers also gain sexual satisfaction from the act. I believe Alastor falls outside the standard norms for a serial killer.

  39. While exceedingly rare, some serial killers do come from seemingly normal backgrounds with no obvious reasons to commit the acts they do.
  40.
  41. I swear if Alastor's reasons for being a serial killer were because he was bullied because of his skin tone being on the darker side of the spectrum, I will be very disappointed in the lack of creativity.
  42. -
  43. I still like the idea of him not really being "crazy" in the conventional serial killer sense, but more super-villain crazy. Eccentric, ambitious, and devoid of standard morals, and his murders were ritualistic in nature and what ultimately got him his unusual level of power in Hell.
  44. -
  45. At some point the show will need to delve into Alastor's character beyond him being a suave, sxy, deer man. I think there are two realistic outcomes to him.
  46.
  47. Either it emerges he is utterly irredeemable, devoid of empathy, kindness or respect for life in even the smallest regard. A being that, if stripped of his powers and outlandish appearance, is simply a utterly damaged and deranged Human. This would make a very strong counter to Charlie's aspirations of 'inside every demon is a rainbow'. A being utterly unable to be redeemed would force Charlie to revaluate her ideals.
  48.
  49. The alternative is that Alastor can be redeemed. Perhaps there is a sliver of humanity trapped underneath his decades long orgy of violence and sadist behaviour. Maybe he is a victim of circumstance, forced to commit sin due to the intervention of outside powers and his own declining sanity.
  50.
  51. Time will tell.
  52. -
  53. You very well know viv can't do something that nuanced
  54. -
  55. Viv wouldn't make him a real bad guy. He's what tumblrinas imagine serial killers and school shooters are like.
  56. -
  57. See making him a fundamentally bad person, with no secret past traumas or anything, someone who looked at a stranger and decided now was as good a time as any to find out if human flesh really does taste like pork, makes the character himself less interesting but adds to Charlie's arc. What does Princess Perky do when faced with the irrefutable fact that her primary goal of getting a damned soul past the pearly gates is an utter impossibility in this case, especially when the lost cause in question is someone who's been helping her and whom she finds agreeable to be around?

  59. Yeah there “misunderstood”
