One day, a giant meteor decided to descend upon the world, crushing and destroying most of the natural life present in it, resetting the natural order back a few centuries, but as they say, life finds a way, and slowly but surely, nature regrew and found itself around the landing site of this odd asteroid.

Over time , people emerged, and as you know, as people develop more technology, they become more curious, and with more curiosity, there is bound to be more issues happening to the world, so they decided to mine into the giant rock to see what was inside, and inside, they found something that shook the world, soul gems, these gems once placed into an item, make it so that the user can house them in their soul and pass it on to later generations, with of course slight variations from person to person, becoming weaponized bloodlines.

Empires rose and fell, as time kept moving, and eventually some soul gem lost all their users, becoming hidden artifacts in the world, infact, after so long, almost no one is in possession of an artifact.

Due to the natural powers present in the gems, the artifacts, once dispersed and left to rot, form extreme labyrinths and catacombs, designed after the beliefs and experiences of their previous users, trying to find someone worthy to control them.

This was a tough bill to follow, so many tried and failed, this is where the party finds themselves now, in a world where power means something ancient, something claimable.
