  1. Rules for Uno DEBT
  2.
  3. 1. Uses 1-4 decks, make a circle, everyone draws 1 card. Everyone flips their card over. If there are 4 or less players playing, there can only be one player per color. If there are duplicates, the player with a card with a lower value redraws until everyone has a unique color. Special cards such as wilds, draw 2/4, skips and reverses cannot be used and player must redraw, discarding their old card back into the circle.
  4. The card with the highest number goes first. If for some coincidence that the players with the highest cards have the same value, they can decide another way to decide who goes first.
  5.
  6. 2. everyone draws 10 more cards, leaving the initial face up card in front on the table(this card is not counted against the player's hand). The first player may choose to attack a specific player by playing a card in the middle and can be any card. The defending player will attempt to defend by playing a card of the same color or number.
  7.
  8. 3. A player's primary goal is to get rid of all the cards in his or her hand. A player's secondary goal is to make the balance of the cards in the middle stack of the playing area 0. Meaning, the value of the cards in the middle is always seen as NEGATIVE, and the cards in the Player's hand as POSITIVE. (ex. a starting card is a blue 6. A player plays a blue 4. the value in the middle is now -2 from -6. The next player must play a blue 2 or two blue 1s to make it 0. If a player plays a blue 7 on the blue 6 instead, the middle becomes -1.)
  9.
  10. 3a. if a player plays the same number, but a different color, it is considered burying the debt, not zeroing it out, and may not attack after playing.
  11.
  12. 4. Play rotates clockwise or counter-clockwise on successful defense(play initially starts clockwise). A player may attack when they have made the middle zeroed out after their initial turn. When a player attacks, they can specify who to attack, even with special cards such as draw 2, draw 4, skip and reverse. Special cards also bury existing debt and when one is played, the next player may attack.
  13.
  14. 5. if a player is unable to "defend" they take on the "debt" or set of the cards for that specific color. These cards are placed on the side of said player as a discard pile and shuffled. Said player is forced to draw from this discard pile each time they are asked to draw, until the player empties the discard pile (this is only done 1 at a time per turn or if they are attacked with a draw 2 or draw 4.)
  15.
  16. 5a. a Set is any number of the same colored cards in play including special cards.
  17.
  18. 6. The starting face up card is a player's purchasing power(how many cards they can play in one turn for that specific color) Ex. a blue six means that if the top facing card in the middle is blue, that player can play a maximum of 6 cards that are blue in that turn. Otherwise they may only play the usual 1 card per turn, unless it is the exact same card. (ex. 2 red 4s)
  19.
  20. 7. Special cards all stacked (draw2,draw4, skip, and reverse) except skip only stacks when it is played more than one at a time. If one attacks with (a) skip card(s), then play is resumed from the one who is skipped.
  21.
  22. 8. when a player reaches 1 card, they say "uno". which safeguards them from any attacks or "debt" calls from that turn.
  23.
  24. 9. If a player says "debt" before previous player says uno, that player takes on ALL of the debt(the cards from his discard pile) from the player that said debt. If the player that says "debt" does not have any cards in his discard pile, the previous player takes the debt of the current color in the middle.
  25.
  26.
  27. An optional 4-function calculator can be used to keep track of the current debt value in the middle.
