  1. "That's why everything is chaos here. Our deflector shield took a hit during the drop from hyperspace and collision with your ship. We didn't notice until we returned to the corridor and got pelted by the debris?"
  2. "And we can't dock again because were running out of fuel-" the repair tech said.
  3. "And yes," Oshi added, noting Enya readying to make a suggestion,
  4. "we sent astromechs to fix it, but they keep getting beheaded and we can't damage any more."
  5. The repair tech whistled in agreement. "Yup. Pretty sure those things cost more than my salary."
  6. Gella saw the solution with utmost clarity, then turned to their
  7. Republic allies. "Then it's a good thing you have Jedi on board."
  8. Enya nodded emphatically. "Send out another droid."
  9. Oshi eyed them from head to toe. Enya with her robes, always a little slouchy, as if shed gotten dressed in a hurry because she was simply that excited to begin her day. Gella with her arms crossed and her lips set in challenge.
  10. "We've tried everything else," Oshi said though didn't seem con-vinced.
  11. The repair tech set down her tools and came closer. "I've always wanted to see Jedi in action and up close."
  12. While they readied another astromech, Gella and Enya positioned themselves in the middle of the viewport. Starboard side, they had a view of the red bruise that was Eronoh's atmosphere, and the river of debris left behind by their war.
  13. "So much destruction," Enya lamented. "I've never seen anything like it."
  14. Gella took Enya's hand, still soft against Gella's own calluses.
  15. Though she wasn't always great with words, she was certain she could offer this comfort. "That's what were here for."
  16. Gella raised her free hand and extended it forward. She calmed her mind of the events that day the moon, the dogfight, the long travel through hyperspace. And beyond that, hidden in the recesses of her heart, the doubt and fear that tested every Jedi. Mistakes that lingered like smoke long after a fire had been snuffed out. Choices she could not take back. All of it was set aside to fix the problem in front of her.
  17. She felt Enya's bright aura through the Force, a heady feeling that reminded her of the first ray of sun after a storm. Together they guided the debris field away from the silver astromech rolling its way across the ship's panels. Gella shut her eyes, slowed her breathing. There was resistance as the objects in motion fought against her. She was among them. She was weightless. She was strong enough to do this.
  18. "Well, I'll be damned, Oshi murmured.
  19. It was the awe in their voice that made her look.
  20. The astromech was already returning toward the air lock, task completed.
