  3. [2013-12-08 20:23:01] <Falconis> Our heroes faced down the turncoat Great General Bohai in the Imperial Palace courtyard and forced his retreat, though the price was heavy.
  4. [2013-12-08 20:23:01] <Falconis> Dr Neuros disappeared sometime during the fight, only a few scattered bits of candy left where he was last seen.
  5. [2013-12-08 20:23:01] <Falconis> With things looking bleak, and the party more split up than ever, Jay and Abram have decided to seek audience with the Empress of China and hopefully play some turnabout Jazz on the Plans of their enemies.

  15. [2013-12-08 20:27:53] <Falconis> [Lee Jong]"Due to my respect for Great General Lei, I will allow you to make your case before I pass judgement." He turns to face the general in question "General Lei, I have known you for a long time, and know you to be a man that does nothing without fair reason, and one that has been faithful to our country. If these men are controlling you somehow, I promise I will free you."

  21. [2013-12-08 20:33:02] <Jay> "Well, uh...I was gone with the General here. We had to settle a...wager. From what I've heard, somebody tried to assassinate the Empress and everybody assumed it was us."
  22. [2013-12-08 20:33:54] <Falconis> [Lei]"Here, take this, it will ease the pain" he says. Lei removes a Sitrus berry from the box and hands it to Abram
  23. [2013-12-08 20:34:05] <Abram> "Right... right. They used one of our compatriot's swords to frame us. The Vice Chancellor, the Russian diplomat Ivanov, Great General Bohai..."
  24. [2013-12-08 20:34:33] * Abram grabs the berry and downs it. It's not much, but it gives him enough energy to think and speak straight.
  25. [2013-12-08 20:35:16] <Falconis> Lee Jong narrows his eyes, but remains silent as he listens
  26. [2013-12-08 20:36:21] <Jay> "...yeah. That we left unguarded in a room for like an entire night, that we were in a very public banquet for."
  27. [2013-12-08 20:37:27] <Abram> "When it all happened, I tailed someone in black robes. They climbed over the walls, went for the gate, and left in some sort of car. I tried to... bring the evidence to Bohai, but then... then he attacked me. He almost killed me too. Twice now."
  28. [2013-12-08 20:38:45] * Abram pulls out the black robes in question, showing them to the Heavenly Fist.

  31. [2013-12-08 20:40:34] <Falconis> Lee Jong takes it and sniffs it
  32. [2013-12-08 20:41:15] <Falconis> He makes a low growling noise in the back of his throat [Lee Jong]"It smells of dust, and death...and gasoline"

  34. [2013-12-08 20:42:58] * Abram quirks his eyebrow slightly, but lets Lee Jong finish.
  35. [2013-12-08 20:43:48] <Falconis> "I can smell Bohai on this, as well as some other things. I suppose this supports part of your claim, but what about the vice chancellor? What proof do you have of his involvement?"

  37. [2013-12-08 20:46:56] <Jay> "Well...General Lei and I discovered some information about Russia's troop movements, that night. They're...dangerously close to Qui borders. Not just troops, but bases and supply lines."
  38. [2013-12-08 20:50:39] <Falconis> [Lei]"They have established forward outposts beyond the Railway. I have seen evidence that they are poised to move into our lands"
  39. [2013-12-08 20:51:18] <Jay> "There's no reason for them to be so far advanced. There's no threat aimed at them here, unless they're planning to create one. And that was the theory: that they were planning to force the issue, if they couldn't convince the Empress to let them travel freely."
  40. [2013-12-08 20:53:28] <Jay> "On the ride back from the North, General Lei and I were informed of the situation here. Honestly, I don't know why he trusted me then, but he did and we discussed who may be behind the attempt on the Empress."
  41. [2013-12-08 20:55:00] <Jay> "We didn't have anything solid to prove any of our theories, so we committed to entering the palace grounds and searching the quarters of Diplomat Ivanov. We overheard the Diplomat talking to someone about a plan, but that's...hard to prove without being there."
  42. [2013-12-08 20:55:03] <Falconis> [Lei]"I believe Riku has been working against us for a long time, Jong. I have my proof, but there is little time."

  45. [2013-12-08 20:59:13] <Jay> "I was wondering why someone would try to assassinate the Empress and so obviously leave the weapon behind. It's so incompetent, it looks like a setup. But...if it wasn't a person..."

  59. [2013-12-08 21:06:19] <Jay> Jay turns to look at Abram and Yu for a moment. "Speaking of leaving weapons behind, does one of you have my pokemon and my knives? I've been feeling naked for a while now."

  61. [2013-12-08 21:08:11] * Abram starts walking after Lei.

  63. [2013-12-08 21:09:07] <Falconis> he seems to have found an oddish somewhere and wasted no time rolling it in bamboo paper and setting it ablaze, sucking on the sweetm semi poisonous smoke

  67. [2013-12-08 21:10:23] <Jay> Jay looks at the diplomat and debates the value of leaving the rest of this shit to him and taking a decent nap, before shaking his head. He snags the backpack out the air, and opens it to grab his gear.
  68. [2013-12-08 21:11:17] <Jay> "Much obliged, sir," Jay replies, and looks up at Yu. "Don't worry. We're seeing this through now. No more innocents are dying for this."

  70. [2013-12-08 21:11:52] <Falconis> "Oh, I hope so. But if you talk to the Empress like that again, I may be forced to lay you off to appease her wrath"

  73. [2013-12-08 21:13:01] <Jay> Jay winces. "...okay, yeah, sorry," he replies. "I throw knives, not words. Give me a break."

  75. [2013-12-08 21:14:29] <Falconis> Yu snorts, causing twin puffs of smoke to waft from his nostrils and follows behind, snatching up the remaining items in the Bakpack
  76. [2013-12-08 21:16:55] <Falconis> Lee Jong leads you into the palace and up two stories, marching in silence the whole time. A heavy air surrounds him, as he ponders what you have told him. In a few minutes and several pain inducing stair climbs later, you enter a large, rectangular hall, covered in the colours of Qui
  77. [2013-12-08 21:17:39] <Falconis> Banners bearing the images of Emperors past and the pokemon hang from the columns lining the green and gold carpeted path.
  78. [2013-12-08 21:18:42] <Falconis> A Golden throne, carved in the likeness of Rayquaza sits on a raised platform at the end of the room. On it, the Empress of China awaits you.

  80. [2013-12-08 21:19:51] <Falconis> Lee Jong walks forward and falls to a knee before the platform, slamming his fists together in front of his chest in a strange salute

  82. [2013-12-08 21:23:00] <Falconis> Emrpess Qui looks straight at Jay and speaks, the youth in her voice shrouded in a will of Iron "General Lei, you accompany these uncouth barbarians?"

  111. [2013-12-08 21:44:18] <Abram> "On the night of the attack, I spotted a figure in a black robe. He was running away from the palace, quicker than I could keep up. He climbed over the walls with some sort of hook or spike, went to the gate, and was picked up by some sort of car."

My companion overheard a conversation he had with the Vice Chancellor while investigating the diplomat's quarters. While there, he also found a ritual to animate objects, such as the sword one of my other companions left behind while attending your banquet."

  127. [2013-12-08 22:10:44] <Falconis> Peng stammers for a moment, dumbfounded but then regains her composure and remains silent

  129. [2013-12-08 22:11:31] <Falconis> Qui scans the assembled people and smiles, murderously
  130. [2013-12-08 22:14:48] <Falconis> Peng looks at Abram, eyes painted with worry. You can almost hear her saying 'shit man what are you doing'

  132. [2013-12-08 22:16:13] <Falconis> if the empress took offence, she doesn't seem inclined to take it out now however [Qui]"I had my suspicions for a long time, this is a fortunate turn of events despite the damage to my palace"

  134. [2013-12-08 22:17:39] <Falconis> "if not however" she sighs, glancing at the swollen end of the Falcatta sword in her hand disdainfully "I may have to have you all executed."

  136. [2013-12-08 22:18:24] <Falconis> A fraxure crawls out from behind the throne, and stalks around it before curling up at her feet

  139. [2013-12-08 22:25:27] <Falconis> She drops the sword from her hands, and it sinks into the ground with the sound of a drop falling into water.
  140. [2013-12-08 22:26:25] <Falconis> [Qui]"For now, you are under the protection of the state of Qui, rest here in the palace until this is decided. Lee Jong, you may return to your post"
  141. [2013-12-08 22:27:02] <Falconis> Lee Jong stands straight, tensed as if a bolt of lightning was running through his body
  142. [2013-12-08 22:27:30] <Falconis> [Lee Jong]"Yes, My empress, thank you. May your kingdom grow forever"
  143. [2013-12-08 22:28:12] <Falconis> With that Qui turns and leaves the room through a side door, her Fraxure following behind at a leisurely pace

  145. [2013-12-08 22:29:02] <Jay> Jay glances around and straightens, rubbing at the small of his back with a wince. "So...now what?"
  146. [2013-12-08 22:29:16] * Abram sighs with relief, but his eyes quickly fall upon Peng, his question unanswered.

  148. [2013-12-08 22:30:43] <Falconis> "Oh, your friend is fine, she is being held in safety at my home at the moment. I will retrieve her tomorrow and bring her here"
  149. [2013-12-08 22:31:57] <Falconis> Lee Jong has vanished
  150. [2013-12-08 22:32:22] <Abram> "Good. Still a bit paranoid after Jay vanished for days. But Neuros..."
  151. [2013-12-08 22:32:24] <Jay> "That's heartening. Now we just need to find Neuros."
  152. [2013-12-08 22:35:42] <Falconis> [Lei]"Neuros, a friend of yours?"
  153. [2013-12-08 22:37:59] <Abram> "He works with us, if that's what you mean. He wears a gas mask, can't miss him."

  157. [2013-12-08 22:41:04] * Abram looks over at Jay as he takes a seat on the floor. It's been a long day.
  158. [2013-12-08 22:42:02] <Jay> Jay shifts his hat on his head. "Well, we've managed to convey to the Empress that someone is trying to kill her. And that it's not us."
  159. [2013-12-08 22:42:39] <Jay> "...beyond that, I'm not entirely sure. I believe she has her own plans that I'm not privy to."
  160. [2013-12-08 22:44:16] <Falconis> Peng rubs her forehead
  161. [2013-12-08 22:45:08] <Falconis> "Screw it, Lei, come with me, you've got some explaining to do"
  162. [2013-12-08 22:45:24] <Falconis> The man in question shrugs and follows Peng out of the throne room

  165. [2013-12-08 22:46:29] <Abram> "What a day." Abram moves over to Yu, trying to wake him up.

  167. [2013-12-08 22:48:15] <Falconis> He stirs as you try and wake him, eyes unfocused, staring to heaven

  170. [2013-12-08 22:50:44] <Jay> Jay releases Specs without his normal spinny theatrics, and hoists Yu up on one shoulder. "I guess we try and find you a doctor...or a wizard, given how bad you're beat."
  171. [2013-12-08 22:52:27] <Falconis> Yu chuckles as if you had said something mildly amusing and leans on you
  172. [2013-12-08 22:52:59] * Abram gets back onto his feet, though a bit slowly.
  173. [2013-12-08 22:53:13] <Abram> "We should find our rooms too. It's been a long day."
  174. [2013-12-08 22:55:12] <Jay> "Yeah...step at a time. Least we're not dead."
  175. [2013-12-08 22:55:29] <Falconis> head to rooms then?
  176. [2013-12-08 22:55:33] <Abram> "Somehow."
  177. [2013-12-08 22:55:46] <Abram> Yes, let's do that.

  179. [2013-12-08 22:58:13] <Falconis> You drag Yu out of the throne room and retrace your steps until you find the familiar halls you used the first time you came here. It was just yesterday, but it feels like an eternity. So much has happened.
  180. [2013-12-08 22:59:02] <Falconis> You make your way back to Yu's office. You were told you had rooms, but Yu is in no state to tell you where they are, and it looks like the maids are still in hiding or something because you meet not one other person on the way there

  220. [2013-12-09 00:01:43] <Falconis> Neuros, has been found. Well, part of him at least. His corpse was found lying beside the body of Vice Chancellor Riku, who was mutilated beyond all recognition. Only his pokemon who remained to defend him served as a way to Identify him.
  221. [2013-12-09 00:01:43] <Falconis> It seems that Neuros was engaged in combat, and judging by the broken Voltorb laying in his charred skeletal hands, he sacrificed himself to destroy him.
