48. A Beagle must use his newly-bestowed superpowers to defend Capitol City from mad scientist Simon Barsinister.
 49. The story begins with a normal, bumbling everyday watchdog beagle named Shoeshine who gets exposed to a substance that gives him the powers of a superhero. And not to mention the ability the speak during an accident. He is adopted by a security guard - an ex-cop, who's a widower with a 12-year-old moody son, Jack Unger. Shoeshine uses his superpower to protect his love and the citizens of Capitol City from the evil Simon Barsinister. Underdog dedicates himself to good, quickly becoming revered as a superhero, but ultimately it will take the combined efforts and understanding of Underdog, Jack, Dan, Molly, and Polly to defeat Barsinister and save Capital City from destruction.
 50. When I first saw the movie advertised, I thought...Hoo Boy! a live action movie about a cartoon character? I knew a friend who saw it at the movies with her daughter and she said she thought it was entertaining. I myself, waited until it hit the cable channel.

Now I am kinda biased in opinion. I own a cute female Beagle who is NOT a super heroine. Her greatest talents are eating, sleeping and farting. So I immediately fell for ShoeShine, the leading man...uh dog. I have read that they used various pups (I guess you can call them stand ins) to perform various tricks. The flying and the talking animation part on the dogs was one of the best special effects I've seen. Clever usage for comedic scenes like running into buildings, and dragging old ladies in drag! The girlfriend and her dog (Polly Purebreed)...I mean, this kid always seemed to carry her dog around EVERYWHERE. I don't know what gives with that? The acting is miminal, the dialogue is NOT for Hemingway or thinkers, but I would say that it was an enjoyable movie for the kids...and yes, beagle loving adults. I am a fan of the cartoon starring Wally Cox---It does not measure up to the genius of the cartoon but I still would rate Underdog, the movie enjoyable family flick. (Please raise the rating)
 51. A dog with super powers to use against criminals or threats against justice. Underdog is a savor to all mankind and canine a like. As his alter ego Shoe Shine Boy(Shoe Shine in the movie), he's able to walk around among the public. When there's the need of help, he'll become Underdog to save the day.

The cartoon was a classic and it's no comparison to this terrible remake of the cartoon. In fact this film is 3/4 different from the cartoon itself.

For example Underdog and Molly Pure Breed resemble normal dogs in the film. But in the cartoon, they's anamorphic dogs who stand on their hind legs and are treated like regular citizens and not as pets. In the movie they're both house pets. While in the cartoon they aren't own by anyone cause they have their own free will to live how they please. Molly was a reporter and Underdog was secretly Shoe Shine Boy. All those main facts were altered in this movie.

Other changes: Shoe Shine Boy is just called Shoe Shine. But I like the other name better. Simon Barsinister looks nothing like he did in the cartoon. While Riff Raff makes a cameo appearance as not a wolf but as a dover man. That I find to be an awful change to a likable bad guy. Riff Raff was a mafia wolf, but they changed him into a stupid dover man. I just can't bear that change.

The Status of the film: Cast of Actors: Really mediocre choices, considering how they were only able to get TV stars, voice actors, and less famous people to do the parts in this film.

Acting: Really poor effort, the guy who did Simon had no magic to the touch. And everyone else just didn't had what was coming to them.

The direction: No good direction what so ever. It's as if the director was trying to make the movie get done sooner and think it'll be a big hit until he discovers how much of a flop it became.

The plot & script: So many errors and mistakes on how it was written. They tried to not reuse anything that was in a cartoon episode. In fact, I think it would of been better if they stick closer to the elements of the cartoon than trying to reinvent the whole thing.

Production: From what I've seen in the movie, I can tell they wasted plenty of money on a lemon than a hit movie.

Overrall, they should of done this whole movie in animation only. Cause a live action version of Underdog just doesn't look right at all. The only animation of the original was shown during the opening scene. But it was awkward on how they show it when it doesn't reflect the movie itself. Anyways fans of the original will hate this movie a lot. While those who have seen the movie show know the original is far better than this.
 52. The TV show was mildly subversive, with humor that children and adults could enjoy on different levels, but the movie strives for a blander, family-oriented middle ground.
