- Owen Benjamin is accusing Nu-Chappelle of ripping off his LGBT joke routine. That's a very serious accusation in their profession.
- Based on how Carlos Mencia and Amy Schumer stole jokes and regurgitated them in a similar manner, and tons of comedians including Owen called them out on it, one might be able to argue that this is the same thing. Joe Rogan and Dane Cook were among those comedians who pointed out the blatant theft, for example. Owen knew Rogan personally.
- Me? I don't know. I'm undecided. It's a pretty blurry line, and who's to say two people can't come up with similar jokes?
- Owen's probably right though. I'm only speaking out of intuition here though.
- I'm leaning on the jokes being stolen because I don't think Nu-Chappelle is even the real Dave Chappelle, so of course his handlers would feed him ripped material...
- But meh. That's up to the individual to decide for themselves. I'm just saying, these "fake Chappelle" rumors aren't swirling for no reason.
