  1. DISCLAIMER - Some of these optimizations are extremely picky and are in no way trying to make you feel like the bot is doing something *wrong* they are just things that could be *better* in the very most optimal route. I will for example include really tiny details such as turn frames, menu scrolling etc. Also these are all based purely on the 1:56:45 video. I will try not to bring up anything I've seen on-stream cause they might've been fixed since I saw them. I will not include anything about doing different moves/things to manipulate red bar.
  2.
  3. 1st Rival fight:
  4. 1) What the bot did - Tail Whip x5 because Growl x4
  5. What it should've done - Tail Whip x2 then Tackles
  6. Why - It's fine to Tail Whip twice instead of once when you get Growl but Growl reducing your Attack is much more effective
  7. than Tail Whip reducing Bulba's defense. So when it spams Growl like that, starting to Tackle earlier is probably best.
  8.
  9. Viridian Forest:
  10. 2) What the bot did - picked up the Antidote
  11. What it COULD have done - skipped the Antidote
  12. Why - It's faster to walk around the Antidote than pick it up but by doing this you just have to hope you don't get poisoned
  13. by Weedle. This isn't something to be done now but something to take note of for when the time gets down to near the limit.
  14.
  15. 3) What the bot did - healed up directly after the Weedle fight
  16. What it should've done - walked out of the grass before healing & switching
  17. Why - The only reason to antidote directly after the fight is if you are near to full health and want to keep it that way. If
  18. you are at low health, you should always exit the grass first because there's not enough tiles for the poison to kill you and
  19. Nido gets outsped by wilds a lot more than Squirtle.
  20.
  21. Pewter Mart:
  22. 4) What the bot did - walked left 1 and up 2 to go to the counter
  23. What it should've done - walked up 2 and left 1 to go to the counter
  24. Why - Ok here we should learn about turn frames. In Gen 1, making extra turn movements do not waste frames *UNLESS* it is on a
  25. tile where the player is not moving. So for example, when moving from corner to corner on a 4x4 environment it doesn't matter
  26. if you go up 4 and across 4 or up 1, across 1, up 1 across 1, etc. but in this case when you talk to the guy at the counter
  27. you have to turn left without moving left so it wastes a frame.
  28.
  29. 5) What the bot did - walked down 2 and right 1 to exit the mart
  30. What it should've done - walked right 1 and down to exit the mart
  31. Why - Same as above, turn frames. In this case when you get to the mart exit you have to turn downwards without moving down
  32. so it wastes a frame.
  33.
  34. Route 3 Fight 1:
  35. 6) What the bot did - On the 1st Caterpie it did Leer x2 then Horn Attack, Tackle.
  36. What it should've done - Leer then Horn Attack x2 (damage range).
  37. Why - It can save a turn if it hits the damage range. It's all well and good saving Horn Attacks but when you lose turns
  38. because of it, that's not optimal. If it doesn't hit the damage range, tackle to finish.
  39.
  40. 7) What the bot did - On the Weedle it did Horn Attack x3
  41. What it should've done - Leer then Horn Attack x2
  42. Why - Same amount of turns but saves a Horn Attack
  43.
  44. 8) What the bot did - On the 2nd Caterpie it did Horn Attack x3
  45. What it should've done - Since it was Level 9: Leer then Horn Attack x2
  46. Why - Same amount of turns but saves a Horn Attack. If it was Level 10 at this point it could Leer then Horn Attack then
  47. Tackle (damage range). If it doesn't hit the damage range, tackle to finish.
  48.
  49. Route 3 Fight 2 (shorts):
  50. 9) What the bot did - On Rattata it did Horn Attack x2 then Tackle.
  51. What it should've done - Leer then Horn Attack x2.
  52. Why - with the way the bot did it, if one of the Horn Attacks crits, it would still use 2 Horn Attacks. With the way I
  53. suggest, if Horn Attack crits it'll save another Horn Attack.
  54.
  55. 10) What the bot did - On Ekans it did Horn Attack x3.
  56. What it should've done - Leer then Horn Attack x2.
  57. Why - Same amount of turns but saves a Horn Attack, plus the same reasoning as for Rattata applies here too.
  58.
  59. Route 3 Fight 3:
  60. 11) What the bot did - scrolled down to Horn Attack
  61. What it should've done - Switched Leer with Horn Attack before attacking Weedle
  62. Why - This fight and the next are mainly just Horn Attack spam and don't require Leer so this switch reduces scrolling.
  63.
  64. 12) What the bot did - On Kakuna it did Horn Attack x2 then Tackle x2
  65. What it should've done - Horn Attack x3
  66. Why - Saves a turn.
  67.
  68. Mt. Moon 1st Nerd Fight:
  69. 13) What the bot did - Finished off the Magnemite with Tackle
  70. What it should've done - Finished off with Poison Sting
  71. Why - Poison Sting's animation is faster because it is a shake animation (meaning it shakes the screen) while Tackle is a
  72. flash animation (meaning the opposing pokemon flashes when attacked).
  73.
  74. 14) What the bot did - On Voltorb it did Horn Attack then Tackle x2
  75. What it should've done - Horn Attack x2 then finish with either another Horn Attack or Poison Sting depending on the damage
  76. range it gets.
  77. Why - We don't need to save Horn Attacks any more. We have enough to last us to Cerulean where we take the center.
  78.
  79. Mt. Moon Floor 1:
  80. 15) What the bot did - Walked 1 tile away from the Rare Candy before going up
  81. What it should've done - Walked up at least 2 tiles before it gets to the Rare Candy
  82. Why - Saves a turn frame. In this case the player had to go right without moving right when picking up the Rare Candy.
  83.
  84. Mt. Moon Lass Fight:
  85. 16) What the bot did - On Oddish it did Horn Attack then Tackle x2
  86. What it should've done - Horn Attack x2 (damage range) and Poison Sting if needed
  87. Why - We are not saving Horn Attacks and could save a turn if it gets the damage range
  88.
  89. Mt. Moon Floor 1:
  90. 17) What the bot did - Tought Water Gun on a tile where the player is turning
  91. What it should've done - Tought Water Gun on a tile when walking in a straight line directly after the Lass fight
  92. Why - Saves a turn frame. Since the player is standing still after menuing, turning downwards costs a frame.
  93.
  94. 18) What the bot did - Walked 1 tile away from the Hiker before talking to him
  95. What it should've done - Walked at least 2 tiles away then walked left then talked to him
  96. Why - Saves a turn frame. In this case the player had to go left without moving left to talk to the Hiker.
  97.
  98. Mt. Moon Floor 3:
  99. 19) What the bot did - Walked 1 tile away from the Rocket before using the Moon Stone
  100. What it should've done - Used the Moon Stone before going so close to the Rocket
  101. Why - Saves a turn frame. Since the player is standing still after menuing, turning right costs a frame.
  102.
  103. Mt. Moon Rocket Fight:
  104. 20) What the bot did - On Rattata used Water Gun and finished with Poison Sting
  105. What it should've done - Used Horn Attack then Poison Sting
  106. Why - We are not saving Horn Attacks and as you can see, Water Gun crit doesn't kill while Horn Attack crit does.
  107.
  108. 21) What the bot did - On Zubat used Horn Attack then Water Gun
  109. What it should've done - Used Horn Attack x2
  110. Why - We are not saving Horn Attacks.
  111.
  112. Cerulean Rival Fight:
  113. 22) What the bot did - On Pidgeotto used Horn Attack x2 then Water Gun
  114. What it should've done - Horn Attack x3
  115. Why - Although it is after the center, we still don't really need to save Horn Attacks because we will soon have Thrash.
  116.
  117. 23) What the bot did - On Rattata used Water Gun
  118. What it should've done - used Horn Attack
  119. Why - We are not saving Horn Attacks.
  120.
  121. Nugget Bridge Fight 2:
  122. 24) What the bot did - On Nidoran Female used Horn Attack then Water Gun
  123. What it should've done - Horn Attack x2
  124. Why - We are not saving Horn Attacks.
  125.
  126. Route 25:
  127. 25) What the bot did - Triggered the Exclamation Box on the Lass before Bill's House
  128. What it should've done - Talked the the Lass
  129. Why - It is faster to talk to trainers as long as you dont have to go 4 or more tiles out of your way. Also be sure to go
  130. up before being 1 tile away from the Lass to prevent losing another turn frame.
