Thanks. I got into highlander via tf2center. I was a lobby-lord for a while. Then a friend introduced me to his team leader and we played a bit, and the leader invited me to his HL team. After I played with that team, I was invited to another, and it went from there.
In terms of who and where I learned from, I don't really know. I learned from lots of people over a long period of time. However, Stabby has some of the best voice comms, and Carlotso/Raelyn has a very good one too. I'll link them at the end. I also heavily learned just by playing. Anyway, cheers, and hope this helped.
