  1. Questions you might have
  2. A 'short' book of answers to questions you may have about your universe
  3. By [Unintelligible gibberish] Aka "R.D."
  4.
  5. Foreword:
  6. Kid, I know you have about a million questions in your head about our meeting last night, so I figured thise book would help. Now it's not TOO in depth (trust me we've tried breaking down everything but it just becomes too much to take in), but I got some of the boys to help jot down what you might need in a bit of a 'run down' format. Before I begin though, this book is attuned to your spirit, so don't think you can make money off this book. Everyone else will see it as a leather bound pile of paper and give you that 'You're barking mad' look, so just don't ok? Only you and Cassandra can see the contents, which is how it's meant to be. Oh and before I forget to mention, your world and the others that occupy this universe is just one incarnation just as we are. I'm told by 'the powers that be' that human's concept of the multiverse isn't far off, however I'm also told enegies tend to work like magnets, repelling some timelines and attracting others. So I wouldn't be too surprised if we really didn't mess up Lovecraft's head and he managed to get a peak of another universe through some sort of cosmic peephole or crack in space and time. In any case, take a good read kid, nothing beats a good read.

  24. Chapter 1 - What was the world I was just in
  25.
  26. Well to answer this question and to put it bluntly, we tend to do ALL our prep work in a plain that mortals typically can't reach. We've tried in the past in other galaxies to make our templates within the mortal plane, only for mortals to eventually find these 'old one' planets and well frankly the results aren't pretty. What you saw was a plane we've had for well quite some time...Frankly I'd rather us start on a new plane, magical energies tend to build up and warp reality causing issues in not only the Plane of tests, but of the mortal world too. Everything gets rough drafted there, humans, the Azjol'nerub (you'll meet them later, really nice race of bug people who have become cataloguers of all recorded history in your galaxy...they don't talk much though), basically anything you cna think of, it's been tested first before the gods get their mitts on it and finalize the product. Normally we don't bring people into the test realm in more current millenia, luckily for you you had Cassandra to help deal with the energies swirling around in that place, last time we brought someone in unaccompanied they went mad, and pretty much became neigh immortal, didn't stop the bastard from drowning though. Where was I again? Oh yeah, don't worry about coming back we're probably gonna tear down the realm and use the residual energies to form the next galaxy or just feed it to Yog-Sothoth, more about him later though kid. Anyways that should be a reasonable answer to that question. Trust me when I say this kid, the book may look big but it's more of a "in your mind" thing.

  29.
  30. Chapter 2- So what is the definitive mythology of the mortal world.
  31.
  32. Right I think I answered this for you. Essentially you have us, the "elder ones" who pretty much do a lot of the leg work for the elder gods in terms of setting up shop. Elder gods take care of shaping the galaxy, we create the first few life forms, Titans refine the shape of the galaxy and the gods refine our designs for life. Kid, I can't give a much more simplistic of an explanation than this.
  33.
  34.
  35. Chapter 3- What is a Shoggoth?
  36.
  37.
  38. Originally we got over worked rather easily so we (the elder ones) created a race of slave beasts called the Shoggoth. Now before you get thoughts of Cassandra in chains, the first version of the shoggoth, let's call 'em version 0 for this, were a more beast like creature. Things went well for a time, then the damn things went and rebelled bit of a mess, we had to cordon off a galaxy. Needless to say Azathot, the head honcho of this entire project (matter of fact the guy created the idea) was very displeased. To this day he's got music blaring in his main office, and I swear whoever recorded that crap pitched the flutes up to a level that's rather maddening. Again, that's another story for another time kid. Basically after the version zeros rebelled we took to creating a new race, a bit more docile in nature. Well at the time we had humans on the table as a candidate for life in the galaxy, so we took the basis of the human form and applied it to the shoggoth. Mixed success this time, the male versions were too much like the old version 0 shoggies so we eighty-six'ed the male versions and kept the female. After a while we started noticing some of our rough ideas going missing, turns out the shoggoth were starting to hit it off with some of the males within our candidates, ESPECIALLY the humans. Well Zeus comes in and tells us 'We can't have a thing that is going to share a planet with humans going around abosrbing them'. So we took a male Drek'thar (rather humanish, we didn't want to lose anymore of our human designs really.) and a Shoggy and after a while we noticed the Shoggy melded with her partner. Well after much congress, and I think one of my mates catching what would amount ot a black eye in you humans, we added a kind of failsafe to prevent the melding, I mean it's still technically there as it's what allows the Shoggoth to change shape and form, but they can't meld with their husbands...So you REALLY lucked out there kid.

  40.
  41. Chapter 5 - How has the 'gods' affected the world's shaping
  42.
  43. No you're not crazy, I skipped naming it chapter 4 for a reason, the nubmer and it's doubled version have a bit of chaos magic charged in them, especially the number 8. Biggest reason I skipped numbering them, if it ain't there it can't hold that kind of magic. Anyways, The gods only really 'set the stage' so to speak. After everything is set and done, the gods populate the galaxy with life and let it be. Every so often they pick a faovrite planet or 3 and watch it a bit more closely, pisses off Yawaeh a bit too much since sometimes they don't keep to their scheduels (especially Zeus, those stories you mortals have about him isn't too far off). Now when I say gods, I mean the gods that those who are called the greek worshipped. That's the best answer I can give, my mates and myself and the old ones don't really interfere THAT much with the mortal world once the prep work is done (lot of cleaning, and a lot of times we're still building the galaxy, as you humans say; Rome wasn't built in a day), we kinda just scram. Sometimes we DO have to make adjustments (ever wonder why you don't see Dragons and the like in modern times? Yeah magic in the early years of your planet was not our smartest idea, not the worst...but not the best either). Though now that it seems your world has matured a bit more, some of the guys want to try and reintroduce magic to your world.
  44.
  45.
  46. Chapter 6- What about other life in the galaxy?
  47.
  48. Short version: Yes there is other life in the galaxy, no I'm not going to list them or tell you all about them. It'd ruin half the fun of discovery
  49.
  50.
  51. Chapter 7- What is this 'gift' you're going to give the human race exactly?
  52.
  53. Cassandra isn't jsut the only idea we hashed out for our gift. Over the years we occasionally peek in at what your kind is doing and the concept of women mixed with parts of animals is a bit out there but even Zeus agreed mamamo would be a nice gift, combine innate magic of nature with that of a human form. Of course taking into account the Shoggoth we opted to only design the females. Actually while we're on that subject lemme take the time to explain that some of those concepts aren't gonna be in the final draft. Gods raised a fuss about the Humpty egg, and frankly I don't blame them, considering how much magic has to be concentrated to cause a mutation like that...We're still trying to find a way to prevent the mutation, damn magical energy build up is the main issue and why we're pushing for that new realm. Also Matango are out, There have been some suggestions on how to actually implement them, but the spores just making a man horny is essentially what we're giving the Manticore with their tail barbs. Bit redundant if you ask me, but I'm not the one who has final say in the design. There are a few we're not quiet sure of and integration has already been decided. To boil that down we're gonna be writing in between the lines of the history of your planet to do that. You might call it "reality bending", we call it "improvising on the implementation". When everything is said and done it'll be like they were there since the beginning, and aside from you and the other chosen emissaries (who were also assigned a mamamo for field testing, sorry kid you got Cassandra because you got the short straw...But seeing how well you two get along I'd say you really don't mind) everyone else will think mamamo have been around since forever. easy peasy if you ask me
  54.
  55.
  56.
  57. Chapter 9- What gifts are you giving to the other sentient race of the Galaxy?
  58.
  59. Kid, look up the phrase "Mind your own business" on this one, Too many to list.
  60.
  61.
  62.
  63. Chapter 10- Who are the gods involved in all this?
  64.
  65. There are far too many to name, but a short list should be enough:
  66. Azathoth - Head Honcho of the project, lately he's been a bit iffy ever since his faovrite galaxy kinda collapsed in on himself, part of the reason why Cthulu sleeps for so damn long, talk about overworked.
  67. Cthulu - Starts the basic layout of the galaxy, gets tuckered out and then sleeps. We got some guy playing a lullaby to him to make sure he's well rested by the time we're all ready to move onto the next project
  68. Yog-Sothoth - Weird guy, basically a collection of eyeballs, he kinda works as a sort of monitoring system for our project, doubles as what you'd call an EWAC...Not much of a talker. Tends to feed on residual energies from previous projects as a way of cleaning up
  69. Elder things - What I am, basically we rough draft some designs while being over seen by some other old gods like Shub-Niggurath, she oversees most of our design process. We're also responsible for testing out concepts the gods and Titans might have. All in all we're the middle men and bug testers of this entire project.
  70. Shub-Niggurath - Basically oversees creation of sentient life. She and a few others basically pick the best designs us elder things push out and then from there she goes through a bit of refining before it goes off to Zeus and the other guys for set-up
  71. The Titans - These guys do a lot of the heavy lifting and pre-planning of what goes where. Last I checked Kronos was the big guy in charge of them
  72. Zeus - Big man in charge of populating planets with sentient life, can be a bit of a slacker when a woman catches his eye.
  73. Actaeon - Guy isn't so much of a god as he is in charge of finalizing the concepts for beasts, particularly the male ones. Jack ass is responsible for things like the Hydra, in hind sight kinda glad that flood happened.
  74. Artemis - Overachiever if you ask me. Goddess of a lot of things, all I remember was banging for what passes as a head on me against a desk for hours trying to get her to approve the mamamo idea. Think she was worried about Zeus hanging behind and shagging as many as he could.
  75. Ares & Athena- God/Goddess of war. The two basically are two halves of a whole, though it was Ares who slugged Actaeon hard after creating the Hydra. Speaking of which, outside the prototype which Ares flat out destroyed, there was only one final product, which was in turn beaten by Hercules. I shouldn't have to explain that bit.
  76. Hades and Lucifer - Clumping the two together really. Hades oversees the final destination for souls who either think they've done enough to merit eternal damnation, or the actual bad ones. Lucifer handles the tougher customers, tends to put the worst offenders in ice. The guy loves his ice puns, I sometimes feel sorry for the people he's got down there with him and are forced to listen to his puns, ice-centric or not.
  77. Yahweh - General Manager of the gods, Zeus might be the guy in charge, but Yahweh tends to be the guy to set the schedule. At one point it was let slip to humans that he was essentially the one most of the communications end up going to, so they started worshiping him and a lot of times under various names. Between you and me I think he lets it go to his head sometimes when all he really is is a secretary more or less. Still a nice guy, bit of a bad sense of humor. Best example I can give about it? Jesus
  78.
  79. There are more, I think the god that handles things like chaos magics is running around under the name Loki now. I'm not even going to bother listing him, he's a handful to deal with, but he's kinda needed to keep a lot of the chaotic energies of every galaxy under control while we go about our work. Outside that can't think of anyone else noteworthy to talk about kid.
  80.
  81.
  82. Chapter 11- How does this affect all me?
  83.
  84. Well You're gonna be living in a world without gods and goddesses soon kid. To top it off humanity will have to learn to co-exist with the mamamo and that's something a lot of us are dreading, but humans are by far the weirdest of our creations. For immediate affecting you issues, I think Cassie there will be a bit happy about being able to go out in public when we bring mamamo into the lime light. You'll be out in front of that being a Emissary and all that fun stuff.

  88. Final Words
  89.
  90. Our stint in this galaxy's creation is almost done, the last bit of chaotic energy is being swept up, we're laying the magic leylines around earth and fine tuning them since some mamamo require magic (Like Cassie). It'll probably be weird for all of you guys, the human race, to deal with gods coming out and going "hi, we're leaving you now". Hopefully our last gift will ease the pangs a bit. And hey if you guys do get to the center of the galaxy, we left something neat there. Not telling you what, but I'll give you a hint, it's not something lame like a cosmic reset button or some "you did it champ" award.
