- ## Megas Upgrade
- ## Strictly trying to better balance the Megas, nothing will be done to the base forms, nor will any stats be reduced to below the base form
- ## Some megas are broken, so there's not really anything I can do that would balance them in the first place lol
- Venusaur: Grass/Poison
- Thick Fat
- -8 Atk
- +4 Spd
- +3 Sp Def
- +1 Sp Atk
- The increase in speed is marginal, but it does put it above things like Gyarados, Milotic, Dragonite, & Xurkitree, and increasing its bulk at the cost of Atk is fine since hitting EQ on Heatran for example is still a 2HKO. A very good, bulky raid-boss like Mega.
- Charizard X: Fire/Dragon
- Tough Claws
- + U-Turn
- -20 Sp Atk
- +10 Spd
- +5 Atk
- +5 Def
- Special attack isn't used on zard X like ever, so now it's a net +1 over base Charizard. 110 base speed lets it outspeed Keldeo, Ninetales-A, Terrakion, Infernape, and countless others, and ties with the Lati-twins, Ogerpon forms, & Iron Moth. Slightly increased Physical bulk and Physical damage (doesn't need much if any tbh). This was a really good mega, just was slightly overshadowed by how easily Y could just click buttons. Now, X can also do that with the increased Speed.
- Charizard Y: Fire/Flying
- Drought
- - None
- This is kind of a perfect mega tbh, the base 104 attack can even be used to deal with Heatran, and the ability is perfect as well. Dropping the attack is feasible, but it would make Zard-Y stronger than it needs to be because the points would end up in either Special Attack (oh lord) or Speed (120 base speed zard please no).
- Blastoise: Water -> Water/Steel
- Mega Launcher
- -10 Atk
- + 5 Def/Sp Def
- This guy is very strong, as it was banned from Nat Dex. However, it was only banned because it gained Shell Smash. If you don't want to go that route, it wasn't actually that great. But, with the new additions in Flip Turn and a new steel typing to give it STAB Mega Launcher-Boosted Flash Cannons, removing its Grass weakness and giving it a bunch of resistances, it has a chance to shine as a bulky attacker as well.
- Beedrill: Bug/Poison
- Adaptability
- - None
- This is the opposite case for Charizard-Y, as there's nothing that can really help it because of base Beedrill being so bad. It has a solid movepool to abuse Adapability, and a very high attack & speed stat. However, there's still no reason to use this over probably any other mega because... This is a Beedrill. Sorry, please get better base stats on base Beedrill, then we can talk.
- Pidgeot: Normal/Flying
- No Guard
- + Focus Blast
- + Razor Wind buffed by removing charge turn and increase of 40 base power, but reverted to its old 75% accuracy. Wind-Type move
- + Blizzard
- Nothing can be done for the base stats, as they're about as good as you can get without reducing below base Pidgeot. However, Focus Blast is something it desperately needed, Razor Wind's buff provide strong special Normal STAB that can work in Singles or Doubles, and the accuracy drop means nothing due to No Guard. And Blizzard is a strong coverage move that, while it seems strange, is wind based, so it kind of works. You are literally walled by every Wind Rider guy, though. Honestly, though, if the stats of the Mega were Pideot's stats... we could have done something with this guy.
- Example Set:
- Pidgeot-Mega @ Pidgeotite
- Ability: No Guard
- Tera Type: Normal
- - Razor Wind
- - Hurricane
- - Focus Blast/Heat Wave
- - U-turn/Blizzard
- Alakazam: Psychic
- Trace
- Slowbro: Water/Psychic
- Shell Armor
- Gengar: Ghost/Poison
- Shadow Tag
- Kangaskhan: Normal
- Parental Bond
- Pinsir: Bug/Flying
- Aerilate
- Gyarados: Water/Dark
- Mold Breaker
- Aerodactyl: Rock/Flying
- Tough Claws
- Mewtwo X: Psychic/Fighting
- Steadfast -> Azure Eye [When a stat is dropped, increases Attack by 2 + Turns all immune moves into not very effective]
- + Close Combat
- + Psystrike now acts like Shell Side Arm without the poison effect
- + Victory Dance
- -30 Sp Atk
- +10 Def
- +20 Sp Def
- - Steadfast is a pretty horrible ability, Resolute is essentially Defiant but better, punishing any stat drops from Intimidate and allowing attacks to freely hit even immune targets
- - Victory Dance lets Mewtwo X be a real physical threat immediately
- - Psystrike's change allows Mewtwo to use it's STAB Psychic a lot more liberally
- - Better bulk in exchange for a special attack stat that no longer matters
- Example Set:
- Mewtwo-Mega-X @ Mewtwonite X
- Ability: Azure Eye
- Tera Type: Psychic
- - Psystrike
- - Close Combat/Drain Punch/Low Kick
- - Victory Dance
- - Knock Off/Earthquake/Poison Jab/Rock Slide
- Mewtwo Y: Psychic -> Psychic Dark
- Insomnia -> Crimson Eye [Sheer Force + Compound Eyes]
- + Psystrike now acts like Shell Side Arm without the poison effect, not affected by Sheer Force
- -40 Atk (Why did it even gain this?)
- +20 Def (Matches Mewtwo)
- +15 Sp Def
- +5 Speed
- - Dark typing makes Sucker Punch neutral, with added bonus STAB to hit Ghost types
- - Psystrike buff makes it freely spammable
- - Sheer Force damage increase on Dark Pulse & Coverage moves make them very powerful, and with increased accuracy, even Focus Blast becomes (somewhat) reliable
- - Restored the bulk of base Mewtwo
- - +5 Speed lets it outspeed things like Dragapult, Zeraora, and tie with Mega Beedrill
- Example Set:
- Mewtwo-Mega-Y @ Mewtwonite Y
- Ability: Crimson Eye
- Tera Type: Psychic
- IVs: 0 Atk
- - Dark Pulse
- - Psystrike

- + Lightning Rod as an ability for Ampharos
- + Thunderclap
- + Parabolic Charge
- + Draco Meteor

- - Lightning Rod as a base ability, along with Follow Me allow for better supporting options in doubles, particularly in the case of Trick Room partners, for use before (or after) Mega Evolution
- - Thunderclap gives a priority option outside of Trick Room
- - Draco Meteor gives a powerful STAB option

- Magic Bounce -> Sheer Force
- -5 Sp Atk
- +5 Spd
- - Play Rough becomes both STAB and boosted in power
- - Throat chop becomes the new Dark STAB of choice, as it's power is boosted
- - Mixed sets become stronger now that they gain a 30% boost, despite the 5 point loss
- - with 120 Base speed, now outspeeds things like Cinderace & Iron Valiant (w/out booster)
- - Magic bounce did little to actually help Absol defensively, as it wasn't trying to switch in to block hazards (it's too frail), and in a doubles meta, it would just be directly attacked anyway
- Example Set:
- Absol-Mega @ Absolite
- Ability: Magic Bounce
- Tera Type: Dark
- - Play Rough
- - Sucker Punch
- - Ice Beam
- - Throat Chop
