- Hey guys, how’s it goin?
- PPL 2020 is done. What a tournament it was. So many sets went the distance. So many races came down to the final stage. We saw so much quirky AI plays and salt and infinite scroll glitches and cheap kills and salt and technical difficulties creating suspense and salt and unlikely upsets and salt and salt and salt and salt...
- Yeah, that was fun. And somehow I had more fun when I did not practice. I really should practice more for the next one, though.
- The most fun I had, though, believe it or not, was updating the look of the broadcast in the weeks/months leading up to the tournament. Tweaking the displays to add so much more information, adding somewhat professional transitions between scenes, stitching together a quick tutorial video, constructing a fuller aesthetic of the game to contain everything in; I feel like I did so much more in preparation for this tournament than any other. Based on all of the feedback that the community has left me, I think all of that work was worth it. As far as I'm concerned, the quality of future broadcasts can only go up from here. The biggest thing I think I need to do to make it happen, though, is to learn to use NodeCG and... I need some time to sit down with it.
- Between learning NodeCG and the need to get rid of all of these videos taking up half my hard drive and the desire to just plain clean up, I am planning on taking an indefinite leave from regular streaming. I may join the occasional Friday night race between now and the 2021 Tetris Attack tournament, but my number one goal is to make sure I take care of myself and organize my life in a way that allows me to stream consistently and motivates me to stream consistently. I have said many times that streaming is effectively my social anxiety therapy. I will not be able to stay away from it forever. That said, trying to produce any content and putting together this past tournament has made me let myself go in ways that I'm not sure I like. 2020, in general, has been a really weird year for trying to establish a routine. It's not good for creatures of habit like myself. It's time to push the figurative reset button and find that healthy routine for once in my life.
- That’s my life story for the week. Until next time, everyone, thanks for reading!
