- --Why the girl? Doesn't the boy hit the ball further?
- Initially, yes, Neil does have more power. His ball flight also goes up as he levels up and ball flight in this game is really slow. Ella's ball flight goes down as she levels up, allowing you to get to your next shot quicker. This enables you to focus on leveling up your distance while maintaining control. As a bonus, Neil's lines in the opening dialogue are three seconds shorter.
- --Why are you giving up?
- If I play well enough, I can actually choose to skip certain lengthy holes at the cost of a considerable amount of strokes (+6 for a par 3, +8 for a par 4, +10 for a par 5). Just putt it short and Give Up Hole. The opponents play so badly on the first course that it is possible to skip two somewhat lengthy holes. Most of the time, though, I just end up skipping one hole on each course until Links.
- --Any other time savers?
- A few:
- 1. Hold B to advance dialogue.
- 2. Don't save in the overworld and just quit to avoid a continue prompt. Everything is still saved.
- 3. Adjust the text speed upon waking up from your bed. There are enough text boxes from getting the POW clubs to make it worth it.
- 4. Turn off the 3D Shot Screen ASAP to avoid a transition to another screen for almost every shot.
- 5. Soft-reset (A+B+Select+Start) through the trophy ceremony and each unlock cutscene. Your progress is still saved, but the cutscene will be skipped.
- --What are you looking at?
- I have an extensive set of notes I will constantly turn away from the game to look at, including a hole-by-hole breakdown of what I want to do. You can find these notes here: http://www.speedrun.com/mgat/guide/4e983
