  1. I think everyone has had fair chance to say what they wanted. I will outlay some ideas about the plugin developer status so we can be clear.
  2.
  3.
  4. Uploading a .jar is not the same as developing a plugin. The plugin developer status on the forums is not recognition that someone has uploaded a .jar, nor that they have created a plugin. It is intended as recognition of those plugin authors whose work is important for the community, so that when they post (most typically in their own plugin threads) they are immediately recognisable and hopefully heard.
  5.
  6.
  7. It is not meant as a status symbol, nor as a recognition of work. Rather, as stated before, as recognition of the importance of work to the community.
  8.
  9.
  10. Any developer that is simply copying another's work is not of any importance to this community, and hence should not be granted any particular recognition for what they have done. An important caveat is that often times plugin developers start out by copying another's work, or taking over another plugin. If they continue to support and develop these they often become important in the community, and so recognition should be given in that case.
  11.
  12.
  13. Please don't beg for this recognition - doing so only shows that you don't really deserve it. If you think there is cause to give someone plugin developer status, by all means contact the team and outlay some reasons why you think that person should be given recognition as a plugin developer.
  14.
  15. Some good reasons for why someone might be given plugin developer status are:
  16.
  17. * They support the Bukkit community
  18. * They maintain their plugins and keep them up to date
  19. * They respond to bug reports and help their users with the plugin
  20. * Their plugin is used by many people
  21.
  22. If someone releases a .jar but does none of these things there is really no need to recognise them as a plugin developer.
