  1. [19:45] Ascalon kneeled upon the oaken floors of his room, emerald hues shifted over his childhood room. It was filled with things, little toy soldiers here, play swords there, old school books scattered across the room haphazardly. As his gaze traversed the memories of the past, old things of his youth. Trinkets of a happier time, a time when he'd been but a petulent child attempting to gain the attention of his parents.
  2.
  3. His mother and father, they had seemed so close so strong together. Yet, in the end they'd only ended up being seperated. He'd struggled for years trying to figure out why, it just didn't seem right for two people who cared so much, built so much, had so much together. Emerald hues lowered from their sweep of the room. Settling upon the item he'd brought with him. An orb, perfectly spherical. It sat upon his floor, gently absorbing the ambient mana which wafted along the winds.
  4.
  5. It'd been a gift, an heirloom left behind by hisfather. Yet, why would he leave this to him? What purpose did it serve? Hands reached out to grasp the orb, he could feel the burn as it attempted to drain him of mana. He'd give it some, attempting to fill the orb manipulating the energy within himself and it. Yet, it seemed the device was full. With mana that was familiar to the lad, it was mana like his own. Vibrant and powerful, yet not Reika.
  6.
  7. He'd lift the orb, bringing it close to his chest. He'd hold it steady as his eyes closed. Breathing slowing as he did so. He'd think for a few moments as his focus settled upon it. It was an artifact of power, it was a connection to his father, but how strong of one? He reached towards the orb, attempting to attune his energies to the one's within.
  8. On and on this went as he sought to establish a connection with something, anything. He wanted to use it as a catalyst to get in touch with his father. He reached outwards with his mind attemtping to feel something beyond himself. All he felt was the dull thrum of his reika through his circuits. Exasperated the young man simply gave up. Irritated eyes looking down into the orb. Before hiding it away. To try again another day.
  9. (Ascalon Zanders)
