  1. Did you discover /drg/ by accident?
  2. Would you be interested in learning about our generals game without getting spoiled?
  3. Here is a pastebin to help you understand how to get started.
  4.
  5. =====================================================================
  6. [What is... this?]
  7. =====================================================================
  8. Danganronpa (Japanese: ダンガンロンパ) is a Japanese video game franchise developed and owned by Spike Chunsoft (formerly Spike).
  9.
  10. The series's core mechanics revolve around a group of high school students who are forced into murdering each other. The gameplay of the main series games features a mix of adventure, visual novel, detective and dating simulator elements. (Think of it as the love child of Ace Attorney, Persona and 999)
  11.
  12. =====================================================================
  13. [Which game should I play?]
  14. =====================================================================
  15. TL:DR: Play DR1, DR2, DRAE and DRV3 on whatever platform you want, PC is easier to obtain.
  16.
  17. Long version:
  18.
  19. 1) Danganronpa 1 Trigger happy havoc
  20. https://store.steampowered.com/app/413410/Danganronpa_Trigger_Happy_Havoc/
  21. Available on PC/PS4/PSP/PSVita/Switch/Xbox/Android/ios/OS X/Linux
  22. Required to get into the series and first of the saga.
  23.
  24. OPTIONAL 1.1) Danganronpa 1 Trigger Happy Havoc (Anime)
  25. https://myanimelist.net/anime/16592/Danganronpa__Kibou_no_Gakuen_to_Zetsubou_no_Koukousei_The_Animation
  26. DO NOT WATCH THE DUB. Recap of the first game, but for illiterate animefags. Badly paced and glosses over trials, so play the games instead.
  27.
  28. 2) Danganronpa 2 Goodbye despair (REQUIRES BEATING DR1)
  29. Available on PC/PS4/PSP/PSVita/Switch/Xbox/Android/ios/OS X/Linux
  30. Re-occurring survivor from the previous game. Fcking steam spoils that small twist.
  31.
  32. OPTIONAL 2.1) Danganronpa 1&2 Reload
  33. Available on PS4
  34. Alternatively you can buy this bundle of DR1 and DR2 together.
  35.
  36. 3) Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls (REQUIRES BEATING DR1 AND DR2)
  37. Available on PC/PS4/PSvita
  38. One of the main characters is a survivor from DR1. Not in traditional VN format but it's more of a shooter.
  39.
  40. 4) Danganronpa 3 (REQUIRES BEATING DR1, DR2 AND UDG)
  41. DON'T EVEN THINK OF WATCHING THE DUB.
  42. Future arc takes place after the events of Danganronpa 2 and focuses on DR1 surviving characters. Despair arc takes place before the events of Danganronpa 1 and focuses on the DR2 cast.
  43. You're supposed to watch an anime in that order:
  44. Future episode 1➔ Despair episode 1 ➔ Future episode 2➔ Despair episode 2 ➔...
  45. Once you're done you can move to Hope Episode.
  46.
  47.
  48. OPTIONAL 4.1) Danganronpa 2.5 (REQUIRES BEATING DR1, DR2, UDG AND DR3)
  49. Don't get fooled by the name, it's an OVA that takes place before Hope episode yet it's supposed to be seen after you finish DR3.
  50.
  51. 5) Danganronpa V3 (REQUIRES BEATING DR1, DR2, UDG AND DR3)
  52. Available on PC/PS4/PSVita/Switch/Xbox/Android/ios (Don't buy the switch and phone ports. They're known for having performance issues.)
  53. Has spoilers for the entire series.
  54.
  55. =====================================================================
  56. [I'm poor.]
  57. =====================================================================
  58. ctrl+f "steam release"

  60.
  61. =====================================================================
  62. [F.A.Q.]
  63. =====================================================================
  64.
  65. [Do the games have dual audio?]
  66. Yes, all games have dual audio, but the TPS spin off requires a separate free download for the Japanese audio track.
  67.
  68. [I've heard Nisa is handling the series. Is there any censorship?]
  69. No. And yes, that includes Another Episode too.
  70.
  71. [What about DRS' translation work?]
  72. Even if it's worse than Nisa, it's still early to know if it has censorship or not. So far it doesn't seem so.
  73.
  74. [How does it play?]
  75. The story of the games is split into chapters and each chapter of the game is split into 2 portions: Daily Life and Deadly Life.
  76. During Daily life you can explore, talk to the other students and progress with the story.
  77. There's also a section called "Free Time" during which you can hang out with the other students, give them gifts, learn more about them and gain skills for the class trial.
  78. During Deadly life, or after someone gets killed, you have to "Investigate" the crime scene and other related places and collect "Truth Bullets", or evidence for the class trial.
  79. In the "Class Trial", you have to debate with other students in order to catch the culprit of the case. This is the most gameplay-filled portion of the game, as it's mostly made up
  80. of minigames.
  81.
  82.
  83. Now get the fck out of our general because you will get spoiled if you lurk.
  84. Feel free to return to us for discussion and shitposting after you have consumed the content.
