- [13:28] The demon followed the lead of the undead inspecting it somewhat all the while. Although Ra'Kamel had been around Alvi for most of its existence their interactions had always been vague. Although this bothered the Demon very little It had the opportunity to gain knowledge in this moment something that would potentially make it stronger. And that's all it cared for in the end.
- " The questions I have for you are mostly centered around the Soul. What is it and how does one obtain one? Mortals have them...Demons have them yet I have noticed many are unable to control theirs beyond beings Like Angels or Demons...Or in this case Undead and Necromancers."
- " I've observed the effects Necromancy has on this world from creating and crafting the undead. From my small amount of research on the topic I've heard it claims some control over the soul yes? If sowhat methods does one use to reach towards the soul of another? " The metallic demon would stare towards the Undead interested to see if they had an answer. It new the basic structure of Necromancy was to call to the soul and manipulate it but it wondered more about the soul itself.
- (Ra'Kamel)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:37] "I think the concept of what a soul is is one of those questions you'll find debated by just about every armchair philosopher from here to Huangzhou. I'm not sure if anyone knows, let alone something like that is obtained."
- Alvi had half-suspected some sort of trap from the demon as it wanted to lead them away from Crafthold. The witch made sure to choose a location that was out of the way but at the same time very much nearby, in case their paranoia was founded.
- "Contrary to popular belief, but mortals cannot actually touch the soul. They can change where it goes, either willingly or by force, but interacting with it and manipulating its properties is an honor that only deities could boast."
- The witch's masked visage stared out over the ocean, hands clutched tightly behind the small of their back.
- "When a body dies, its soul flees out towards the stars above. To reach that soul, a necromancer sends their own mana - and their conscience - out to pierce the barrier between this mortal coil and the cosmos beyond and bring that soul back. Whether it's kicking or screaming, or willingly."
- (Alvi Slade)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:49] Ra took in the words and allowed them to gather in its mind of as it listened to their words. Each sentence bringing about new information. The truth behind a soul was an argued topic it seemed at even though they were able to control it and manipulate it mortals were unable to fully grasp it beyond using their mana to circumvent this...
- " So Souls are very much an untapped resource? Necromancers are able to pull the soul down from their cages and bind them...Let me ask you this then. Would it be possible to extract the soul of a mortal from their living vessel? " The demon had already considered its options and had heard rumors of such magics being about but they were myths at most.
- None it knew had such power to affect the soul beyond the Divine creatures Alvi spoke of yet there was still some horrific undertone to what the demon intended to do. " If that is the case I want to develop a magic that can effect the souls of living creatures. Demonic magic forces harm upon those I wish to kill without any lack of their well being after the fact. If such magic can be altered to a more specific target..." The demon knew little of what it meant but had an idea outlined in its mind of where it wanted to go. The reason was simple and clear as to why.
- " I've for too long shackled myself down. I need a new power that will make me a stronger creature. I'm afraid that even when I gain the power of Archon I will still be lesser...and I cannot have that. I must grow stronger no matter what. I have far too many ambitions to be killed by some juvenile. " The demon had had many brushes with death and many failed experiments in trying to grow its strength by restricting its occultism. Now however it wanted nothing more than to utilize it and make take full advantage of its properties.
- (Ra'Kamel)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:56] "Soul transference," Alvi replies without skipping a beat. They had, in their advanced age, actually had similar conversations many times before.
- "Soul transference is when a necromancer takes a soul out of a living body and puts it in another vessel. They can do even do it with their own soul to swap bodies, as well.
- On the other hand, it is an incredibly dangerous thing for both the necromancer and its subjects. There is always a possibility of the new vessel rejecting the soul, and transferring to a weaker vessel will leave you, as a consequence, weaker. Likewise, as a demon you'd have a much more difficult time trying to settle into a mortal body than you would transferring into another demon, but it is possible!"
- Glancing over at the strange demon of various metals, the witch extends a single finger.
- "Of course. That is but one of the many ways a soul can be directly manipulated. Death magic is one such ability, but you don't strike me as much of an Occultist."
- (Alvi Slade)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:03] Ra looked curiously as the Undead explained about soul transference and how it would be difficult for a being like Ra Kamel wouldn't survive in a weak mortal body." The thought of living inside of a mortal is a repulsive one. I highly doubt anyone would enjoy that especially myself."
- "Death magic?" the demon inquired...So there had already been a name for it...The voids details were always so vague yet they always seemed to lead it in the direction it needed. "What is Death magic and why do you believe I am unworthy of it? If its a possibility to get stronger I will take on any challenge...Just as I am going to hunt down Nethradin to learn the riftmancy I will hunt down any information of this Death Magic if it is an ability that can do this."
- Ra'Kamel had been denied many times. Too many by plenty of peoples who saw it as lesser and weaker. Even though all the while it had gained favorable strength to become a threat to Huangzhou and their Krausite fellowship it still needed the extra push in power." I am an Umbral Demon the highest level of occult mastery that can be found amongst our kind. Granted I have much to learn as I am now I will still do whatever I can for more power. One thing all of us Demons have even if it varies is ambition and the will to survive. I cannot be smothered out like a candles flame I must burn all who dare attempt to do so. "
- (Ra'Kamel)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:12] Alvi shrugged non-chalantly. They never said anything about being 'unworthy'. Every demon - sans a few exceptions - was by default tainted by the Occult and could wield it. How much they focused on such, of course, was up to the individuals in question.
- "I didn't say you were unworthy. You struck me as someone with studies in different fields than the Occult. Death magi are masters of wielding the Occult, so hobby practitioners need not apply."
- In all their life, the witch had never actually met someone who could call themselves a death magi, but they did hear rumors about certain individuals capable of harnessing such.
- "Whereas I try to master the Occult by staving off the negative emotional effects over prolonged usage, death magi do the complete opposite and continue forward regardless of any ill effects. The benefit is the ability to harnessa subset of the Occult that can directly harm one's own soul, although whether or not they can outright steal it? I don't know.
- Of course, being a demon, you probably don't need to worry about anything like Occult madness."
- (Alvi Slade)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:22] A finishing glare from the undead as they finished they're reasonings and indeed Ra'Kamel hadn't been the practitioner of the occult as he claimed to be until now at least. Learning their was a power that forced the souls of others to bend and break was an interesting topic.
- " Hm Then it seems there are facets beyond my power that I can gain by removing my shackles after all. Indeed I perhaps was not the most forth most in studying occultism I have no need of that variation of magic Demonic magic differs greatly from the imitation brand you mortals use." a slight pause before looking towards its chest. Lightly faded were the words CRIMINAL branded on its body barely visible to the naked eye.
- "although it is not to say you all haven't taken our magic and made it your own in some way I find Demonic magic and occultism to be two differing entities. That being said if Death magic is a possibility I will learn it. Even if it is a power that brings all manner of life to ruin it will mean I will become an existence unlike any other upon Agartha." No matter how subservient demons could be towards the Archons it would be unfavorable to say they wanted nothing for themselves. It was their nature after all to become champions or Kings and to never settle for anything less.
- With a deep breath like exhaust from an engine the demons breath spewed a haze of occultism into the river side." I don't suppose you'd know of any users of this magic? I've heard rumors of powers that can effect the soul in adverse ways but I've only never met such a person..." Even if it as a shot in the dark the demon would take its chance to be noticed by someone anyone. It needed power and there wasn't any time before it was tested in many trials to Ascend to Archon. If it wanted anything it was the power to control the Darkness within the void that it had aimed to master for so long.
- (Ra'Kamel)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:29] Alvi couldn't quite interpret the demon's end goal through their words alone aside from 'become powerful'. While fairly generic, at least Ra'Kamel had a long-term goal. Other fairly new demons that Alvi had witnessed were more focused on the short-term goal of 'hunting' prey. At least for the time being while they grew.
- Whether or not the witch truly believed Ra'Kamel would succeed was a different story altogether.
- "If I had to wager a guess? Anyone alive and of relatively sound mind who could wield death magic would have to be a demon themselves. A particularly ancient and powerful one."
- Allowing themselves a rare, cheeky grin, the witch shrugs non-chalantly.
- "As to who that can be, who knows?"
- (Alvi Slade)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:38] The demon thought and thought about it and it was true there was none it knew who could wield such magics and thus It would need to find someone who could. While finding ways to increase its own power as well. If it were to meet such a person it had to be on a level where they would accept it fully.
- As the creature turned to Alvi it would give a nod noticing the grin on their face underneath their mask. After staring for a moment the demon then began to adjust itself.
- " You're quite right. No journey is easy and for those who wish to learn of such a power they would need to have immense ruthlessness and unparalleled power. Amongst my Kin their are elders perhaps they would know more of this type of magics...." It was obvious whom he had to speak to next...Either Eiphraem or Illaron they had been around for nearly centuries and would be the closets article of any Death Magic users amongst their kind.
- However until such a time the demon would need to gather influence and power. Huangzhou and Cruxati needed to fall. All their enemies needed to be accosted into the thralls and at the most part dye horrific deaths.
- " It seems my hunt for knowledge continues. Until next we meet Alvi. You have my gratitude for indulging me. One day you'll come to know the name I take upon myself as I dawn the mantle of Archon." A promise? Or perhaps a binding contract to itself. All would remember the demon that rose from the void and the streets they all walked on. The casual creature rising to become the bastion of their demise. Eventually after all beings of such unrivaled power only take a matter of time to gain power.
- As there was nothing more to say the demon would prepare to head back to Crafthold its questions answered and even some new information gained.
- (Ra'Kamel)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:41] Alvi's offers Ra'Kamel a slow nod as they watch it depart back towards the town, hands folded behind the small of their back. It would be some time before they followed it.
