  1. Overview
  2. ########
  3.
  4. - Great offensive typing makes it one of the most threatening special sweepers/wallbreakers in the tier.
  5. - Good offensive stats with 114 SpA and 104 Spe.
  6. - Although it has good speed, sadly it's slower than Pokemon such as Zoroark, Cobalion, Virizion, and Durant.
  7. - Good movepool consisting of powerful dual STAB moves, Grass Knot, and Switcheroo.
  8. - Weak to all kinds of hazards, and is heavily crippled by Sticky Web and Stealth Rock.
  9. - c-c-c-c-ombo breaker since it broke the tradition of fire/fighting starters that lasted for 3 generations straight
  10. - Average overall bulk.
  11.
  12. Offensive Calm Mind
  13. ########
  14. name: Offensive Calm Mind
  15. move 1: Calm Mind
  16. move 2: Fire Blast
  17. move 3: Psyshock
  18. move 4: Grass Knot
  19. ability: Blaze
  20. item: Life Orb
  21. evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
  22. nature: Timid
  23.
  24. Moves
  25. ========
  26.
  27. - Calm Mind lets it boosts its special attack to ridiculous levels and makes it wallbreak everything not named Slowking.
  28. - Fire Blast is a very strong STAB move.
  29. - Psyshock can hit some Pokemon hard based on their defense and not SpD, these include Gallade, AV Druddigon, and Aromatisse.
  30. - Grass Knot gives it good coverage, and makes it get past weakened Slowking, hurts Alomomola, and gives it a way of getting past Rock-types like Rhyperior, Tyrantrum and Regirock.
  31.
  32. Set Details
  33. ========
  34.
  35. - Max speed to outspeed slower Pokemon like Yanmega, Drapion and Moltres.
  36. - 252 SpA to dish out as much damage as possible.
  37. - Nothing special, straightforward 252/252/4.
  38.
  39. Usage Tips
  40. ========
  41.
  42. - Bring it out against a Pokemon that can't do much to it, like Aromatisse, Amoonguss, Tangrowth, and Cresselia, set-up and then use Fire Blast or Psychic/Psyshock depending on the situation.
  43. - Works best mid-game to wallbreak for another sweeper to clean up.
  44. - Grass Knot is primarily just to get past rock types in general (tyrantrum, regirock) but rhyperior especially.
  45.
  46. Team Options
  47. ========
  48.
  49. - Defog/Rapid spin is mandatory, for this reason, Shiftry, Skuntank, Hitmontop and Gligar are good teammates.
  50. - Shiftry and Skuntank especially for their ability to get rid of Slowking and Jellicent with Knock Off and Pursuit, respectively.
  51. - Offensive Spiritomb has good synergy with Delphox, as it also beats Pokemon that Delphox struggles with.
  52. - Dugtrio traps the faster Pokemon that threaten Delphox; Cobalion (stone edge), Zoroark, Heliolisk, Jolteon etc.
  53. - Zoroark can disguise as Delphox and kill two of its main counters: Slowking and Jellicent. But Stealth Rock must be cleared, since Zoroark and Delphox take different damage from SR and can easily be distinguished.
  54.
  55. Choice Specs
  56. ########
  57. name: Choice Specs
  58. move 1: Fire Blast
  59. move 2: Psychic / Psyshock
  60. move 3: Grass Knot
  61. move 4: Switcheroo
  62. ability: Blaze
  63. item: Choice Specs
  64. evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
  65. nature: Timid
  66.
  67. Moves
  68. ========
  69.
  70. - Fire Blast is a nuke. Hits ridiculously hard from turn 1.
  71. - Psychic is strong secondary STAB. Psyshock can be used as it can hit Gallade, non-physically defensive Aromatisse and AV Druddigon harder.
  72. - Grass Knot for Rock-types in general but Rhyperior specifically.
  73. - Switcheroo to cripple switch-ins, and for Pokemon like Cresselia and Slowking.
  74.
  75. Set Details
  76. ========
  77.
  78. - Max speed to outspeed slower Pokemon like Yanmega, Drapion and Moltres.
  79. - 252 SpA to dish out as much damage as possible.
  80. - Nothing special, straightforward 252/252/4.
  81. - Choice Specs makes it a lot more powerful than its other sets, so this makes Delphox a threatening wallbreaker.
  82.
  83. Usage Tips
  84. ========
  85.
  86. - Be careful when giving Slowking Choice Specs, it can backfire.
  87. - Bring out early game, nuke.
  88. - Don't blindly use Switcheroo vs. offensive teams, it can often backfire.
  89.
  90. Team Options
  91. ========
  92.
  93. Same as CM LO:
  94. - Defog/Rapid spin is mandatory, for this reason, Shiftry, Skuntank, Hitmontop and Gligar are good teammates.
  95. - Shiftry and Skuntank especially for their ability to get rid of Slowking and Jellicent with Knock Off and Pursuit, respectively.
  96. - Offensive Spiritomb has good synergy with Delphox, as it also beats Pokemon that Delphox struggles with.
  97. - Dugtrio traps the faster Pokemon that threaten Delphox; Cobalion (stone edge), Zoroark, Heliolisk, Jolteon etc.
  98. - Zoroark can disguise as Delphox and kill two of its main counters: Slowking and Jellicent. But Stealth Rock must be cleared, since Zoroark and Delphox take different damage from SR and can easily be distinguished.
  99.
  100. Choice Scarf
  101. ########
  102. name: Choice Scarf
  103. move 1: Fire Blast
  104. move 2: Psychic / Psyshock
  105. move 3: Grass Knot
  106. move 4: Switcheroo
  107. ability: Blaze
  108. item: Choice Scarf
  109. evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
  110. nature: Timid
  111.
  112. Moves
  113. ========
  114.
  115. - Fire Blast for high base power STAB.
  116. - Psychic is a strong, reliable secondary STAB. Psyshock can be used to hit Pokemon like Aromatisse, Gallade, and AV Druddigon harder.
  117. - Grass Knot for Rhyperior and Rock-types in general.
  118. - Switcheroo to crippled Pokemon who wouldn't like it.
  119.
  120. Set Details
  121. ========
  122.
  123. - Max special attack to dish out as much damage as possible, with Timid max speed to outspeed as many threats as possible with Choice Scarf.
  124. - Choice Scarf lets it outspeed the entire unboosted metagame.
  125. - Because it's using Scarf, it's significantly weaker than the two other sets.
  126.
  127. Usage Tips
  128. ========
  129.
  130. - Functions as a revenge-killer and late game cleaner.
  131. - Can cripple walls by giving them Choice Scarf, therefore rendering them pretty much useless, and giving teammates an opportunity to shine with such Pokemon neutered.
  132.
  133. Team Options
  134. ========
  135.
  136. - Like with the other sets, Defog/Rapid Spin support is necessary. Again, Shiftry, Hitmonlee, Skuntank, and Gligar are good teammates to Delphox and can do it easily.
  137. - Pair it with strong, fast Pokemon that can punch holes in opponent's team and let Delphox clean up afterwards; Hitmonlee, CB/LO Druddigon, Zoroark.
  138. - In fact, Zoroark is a good teammate because Delpox lures in Slowking and Jellicent, and Zoroark can easily disguise as Delphox and get rid of them. Be careful of Stealth Rock, since both Pokemon take different damage from it and its easy telling that its Zoroark based on Stealth Rock damage.
  139.
  140.
  141. Other Options
  142. ########
  143.
  144. - A set with Magician can work in conjunction with Solar Beam and Power Herb to steal away a foe's item, but is mostly gimmicky and unreliable, and Grass Knot is usually a better option.
  145. - Will-o-Wisp can be utilized to cripple some switch-ins, but it's not that good on an offensive Pokemon like Delphox.
  146. - SubCM can let Delphox destroy Stall by easily setting up against Aromatisse, Roselia, Cresselia, and even Alomomola if they carry Scald, and proceed to sweep, but it loses out on coverage and needs a lot of set-up.
  147.
  148.
  149. Checks & Counters
  150. ########
  151.
  152. **Bulky Waters**: Slowking is the best counter you'll get. Jellicent and Specially Defensive Alomomola.
  153. **Bulky Pokemon**: Specially Defensive Meloetta, Druddigon, Miltank, and Cradily, who can KO with Rock Slide after SR + LO damage.
  154. **Faster Pokemon**: Speed Boost Sharpedo, Zoroark, Crunch Durant, Choice Scarf users, Sucker Punch.
  155. **Hazards/Residual damage**: Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Sticky Web, all really, really hurt Delphox. Toxic damage also racks up rather quickly on Delphox.
