- 1. I don't mind the idea of Illidan waging a secret war against the Legion. He was amassing forces on Outland for a reason, and the Warlock questline suggests he was keeping lots of secrets from even his own side. I mind that he has been recast as a troubled but serious anti-hero. His characterization from WC3 through the Burning Crusade was as a competent individual whose judgement has been brought low by misfortune and his addiction to magical power. His brother even says this in the Shifting Sands questline in Classic, that his defeat at the hands of Arthas really shattered his stability.
- 2. The Legion is not just about green fire. The Lich King and the Scourge had their powers derived from the Legion, particularly Kil Jaedan and wherever Frostmourne was made. These necromantic and shadowy magics deserved more exposure beyond the notion that the Legion uses and manipulates souls for their own ends. They don't seem to be void magics if the aesthetic differences between an Affliction Warlock and Shadow Priest are any indication.
