1. Lola could remember the night in which she found out that she would become different from her siblings so vividly. She had just turned 15 a few weeks prior to being assaulted by James Chapman, a 45 year old man that held a strange fascination for Lola. Although she used her magic to keep him away from her, he still managed to transform into his panther form, striking the young girl across the chest before a woman and her son would step in, shooting at the culprit - causing him to scatter. Unbeknownst to Lola as she lay there bleeding out, he’d leave her with a curse that she wouldn’t be able to get rid of. Werepanther possession.

The night seemed to come slowly for Lola as she lay tucked underneath the blankets of her grandmother’s bed. Her sisters and brother were right beside her, keeping an eye on her as she trembled and broke out into a cold sweat. A sharp whimper slipped from her parted lips as she doubled over in pain, Causing her siblings to scream for help from the bedroom. Within only seconds, their mother Delphine and grandmother Perla ran into the room in complete fear. Perla moved to be at her granddaughter’s side, checking the young girl for a fever. Lola’s skin was on fire, heated like ten thousand suns in one. It was only then that Perla noticed the bloody bandage that garnished Lola’s chest. Slowly peeling the cloth away, she examined the wound and released a deep gasp due to its throbbing reveal. “Mèt, ede nou….she’s been scratched by a werepanther.” Perla lowered her head, afraid for her grandchild. It wasn’t very common in any part of the world. It was said that if someone was scratched by a wild cat, you would die if you weren’t strong enough to become one of them or you would become one of their kind. No magic or remedy could ever cure you from it. The worst part of it all was that tonight was a full moon. “Samuel, take this poor baby outside. She’s going to need all the space and comfort she can get. We all gotta’ pray that she makes it through this here.” Perla said, ordering her grandson to take his sister outside.

Delphine stood near the gates, pacing back and forth as she searched her spell book for a possible cure. However, there was no cure. At least none that any spell books carried. The air was humid around them and the swamp waters were covered in a thick smog. Lola’s eyes began to glow a fluorescent shade of gold, her fingernails digging into the dirt and ripping apart as she tried to evade whatever was happening to her. “M-mama! What’s happening to me? Mama, help me…please! Help me!” Lola cried out as drool spilled from her lips and into the dirt beneath her. Delphine tried everything that she could to help her daughter, but nothing she would ever do could end this besides death. “I’m trying baby, mama’s trying. Dear God, please help us!” She screamed out.

The phase of the full moon let its arrival be known as it illuminated the area. Temptation lured Lola to glance into its unearthly radiance.

SNAAAAAAAAAP!

Lola’s bones began to break, limbs snapping in ways that didn’t seem real. The pain was excruciating as she screamed at the top of her lungs. To hear her child fall apart in such a manner broke Delphine’s heart. It was now time to witness if her daughter would live or die. As the young girl began to transform, the clothes that she once wore were shredded from her form and she leapt towards her grandmother, ready to attack. Sharp teeth nipped at Perla’s dress as she picked up her dart gun, aiming it towards her granddaughter. Perla had no choice but to tranquilize the girl so that she wouldn’t be able to harm her anyone during this untimely shift. Lola yelped, stumbling over on the padded toe beans of her paws. “My sweet, sweet girl. I’m so sorry. We’re going to do as much as we can to help you get through this. I promise you.”
