Hello! My name is Max. I’m a Cattle dog with a huge heart and a bit of a shy streak. I’m still quite young, around a year old the vet estimates, but I am done growing and could be classed as a medium sized dog. I love to play tug-o-war, run around a decent sized yard, and hang out with my people. I am toilet trained and have had one accident but that was totally my humans fault.

I’m learning to play fetch and at this time, I bring the ball back roughly half of the time. I have also learned to sit, come, go inside and go outside. I’m currently shacked up with a small dog and a cat, and while sometimes I can be a bit too energetic with my foster brother I know to be as gentle as I can be with the cat. Speaking of gentle, I don’t mind eating last and will always let other dogs finish before I eat.  I’m not the pack leader and I like that. I know not to be aggressive with food and I know that if a human offers me food that I should be as gentle as I am with my cat friend. My favourite place to be pat is definitely on my tummy and I am happy to roll over for anybody I trust.

Due to my start in life I can be a bit of a chicken with strangers, preferring to hide and watch any new people or dogs from a distance, even if other dogs help me to be braver. It takes me a bit to really be sure about folks. I love cats though.
I am also a bit shy on the lead as the outside world is scary. I have been getting better but any new humans would have to take me for walks in the evenings when everything is a bit quieter. When I do muster the courage to go for walks, I don’t pull on the lead and prefer to stay at my human’s side. It’s even better when another dog that I trust joins us on walks.
