  1. [14:46] "..."
  2.
  3. The Captain remains stalwart.
  4.
  5. There's a running joke... Imperials never truly retire - instead, the retired Imperials are named 'dead'. In a sense, that's true; he knows that it's what awaits all of the Imperials that serve their homeland.
  6.
  7. Killed in action.
  8.
  9. "--So that's how it will be."
  10.
  11. A full on, bloody war. Truth be told, it was foolish to assume that the lingering illusion of something else could possibly be evoked, but..
  12.
  13. While his gaze naturally drifted towards Niffty out of concern, he sees already that Guinevere attends to her.
  14.
  15. Instead, his eyes shift towards Aviel.
  16.
  17. "You caught me in a very, very bad humor, Aviel."
  18.
  19. "If you value your life at all, kneel and beg for mercy."
  20.
  21. For he will have none. Not anymore. Instead..
  22.
  23. Click! The Journey's End is raised right at him. Coming here was perhaps a mistake.
  24. (Marcel Delisle)
  25. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. [14:46] The youngster coming up her way brings all kinds of help, it brings a slight can't to her head. "'cha sorry fer..? Ekhe..-" Further hacking up of her lungs, it's a rather nasty burn!
  28.
  29. …
  30.
  31. Xenia's best friend, she'd never met this young lady before, Xenia never introduced this young lady before.. There's quite some she never got to find out about that darling Docro.
  32.
  33. So out of pure, emotional distress only enhanced by the cracked out drugs she's on.. Both arms go out to pull Guinevere into a hug, despite the wound. - Aviel had been pointed out.
  34. (Niffty)
  35. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36.
  37. [14:51] Two Achyonites and an Osronian, one of the Achyonites being Niftty herself. Dernust feels like this situation has happened before, but this time, this time it'd be for a good reason.
  38.
  39. Aviel, the man who assaulted him and Vitus, would have... to beg for Captain Marcel's mercy? Wait, what's happening here?...
  40.
  41. "Captain Marcel Delisle, may I ask you what's happening here?" - Dernust had a few ideas of what was going to happen here. Another Osronian would get shot, this time one that deserves it. But, honestly? It'd be better if he got an actual answer, instead of waiting to see what happens. Plus, who knows! Maybe his help is needed...
  42. (Dernust)
  43. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  44.
  45. [14:51] He did not know what was going on, but it seems he indeed caught the Delisle on such a very bad time.
  46.
  47. The magi was still injured from his loss to Ksena. Though for some reason, upon the sight of Marcel, Ksena's presence seemed to manifest. However, she was nowhere.
  48.
  49. It was Marcel before him, as Guinevere tended for Niffty, as well as Dernust?
  50.
  51. His eyes seemed confused, though it betrayed not the stoic mien.
  52.
  53. "After killing Orain and Asher, you expect me to kneel?" he asked.
  54.
  55. He would not fall for that 'Archmagi killed his own son and the death of another.'
  56.
  57. "Blood has been spilled and you expect me to beg for my own life?" asked Aviel, though twin blades made out of mana materialized on both hands. He could not hope to beat Marcel, but he would not also kneel or beg.
  58.
  59. Perhaps there may even be a chance he could - though that hope is slim to none.
  60. (Aviel)
  61. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  62.
  63. [14:56] There is but a glance given to Dernust upon arrival. Behind the cold, stern expression of the battle-scarred veteran of many wars, there's no emotion.
  64.
  65. There is something.. simple and blank, but not because he felt nothing about this - because he knew that he could not allow his emotions to cloud his head.
  66.
  67. "Captain Julian is declared killed in action. The murderer is Dallan."
  68.
  69. But what comes is the shifting gaze towards Aviel. Could he not understand the true intention behind Marcel's words, behind the gesture that he makes with the weapon?
  70.
  71. Could he not see what the Captain desires?
  72.
  73. "Of course not. I don't expect you to grovel or beg. I expect you to fight me."
  74.
  75. "That's the beauty of it."
  76.
  77. Truthfully, the only reason this has been spoken is because he'd expect Aviel's inner flame to spark, to find the statement all too offensive to even acknowledge.
  78.
  79. It would be a shame if he were to fall without a struggle. So instead..
  80.
  81. The black lightning gathers. It is quick to spread onto the weapon. The weapon that has killed so many..
  82.
  83. And it's pointed right at Aviel.
  84.
  85. Bang.
  86. (Marcel Delisle)
  87. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  88.
  89. [15:00] Another cough. "Hey, hey! It's okay." Can she hear? Guinevere reaches out for her badge, an official, old badge bestowed to her in her youth.
  90.
  91. She knows this one. A family friend, or someone involved with the Docros. Xenia was vague, likely on purpose. "Let me take a lo-" Though before she can, the short Razuka wraps her arms around her and she does the same. Manicured hands grip at Niffty's shoulders.
  92.
  93. "-Let's have a closer look at you, okay? My name is Guinevere." Though she doesn't part this sudden embrace first.
  94.
  95. They both need it.
  96. (Guinevere Falstaff)
  97. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  98.
  99. [15:00] He lifted an eyebrow upon the mention of Dallan and Julian, before shifing gaze back to Marcel.
  100.
  101. "Isn't it always?" he said.
  102.
  103. It has already been revealed thus far, that upon where Aviel appears amidst Achyonites, there will be blood.
  104.
  105. He swiftly pulled his string, summoning upon an arrow of crimson light, straight to the black lightning that shot forth.
  106. (Aviel)
  107. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  108.
  109. [15:02]
  110. {LOAD GAME}
  111.
  112. [15:05] Aviel says, "Tch."
  113. [15:08] {Won Dangerous RPB against Aviel}
  114. [15:08] ** Marcel Delisle has inflicted an injury upon Aviel. ("Temporary Injury", "Temporary Injury", "Temporary", "Duration: Medium (4 days)") **
  115. [15:18] The Captain was far more ruthless as of late.
  116.
  117. The coldness of this war has been naught but brutal bloodshed for all; and yet, whereas Aviel tries to exchange the blows with the Captain, it comes down to a simple fact once more.
  118.
  119. Aviel is a capable magi, one that has bested people before..
  120. But to him? He cannot stand.
  121.
  122. Such exchange comes down to the fact that the blood magi could only fathom ever fighting against Marcel with his speed alone- through raw power and endurance unlike any other, all he could do is leave the stabbing marks across Marcel's flesh.
  123.
  124. For once..
  125. He manages to catch Marcel off guard.
  126.
  127. A dagger is left in his flesh, conjured out of Aviel's magic; amidst this adrenaline, he doesn't notice the embedded weapon in him, yet..
  128.
  129. "So you've improved some."
  130.
  131. "Very well."
  132.
  133. It's yanked out of his flesh without remorse or hesitation- and what comes next is something that nobody ever wants to see in their entire life; the sight that only few have met before, such as Niffty, and lived to tell the tale.
  134.
  135. Marcel charging at someone.
  136. With murderous intent in his eyes.
  137.
  138. That someone, unfortunately for Aviel, must be him. Through brutal lightning and shredding winds, he finds himself overwhelmed- while he manages to wound the Captain, there's something inhuman about how he fights.. how each streak of black lightning takes toll on the man's flesh.
  139.
  140. Can someone be so consumed by bitterness and hatred?
  141. So much that they almost become like a demon..
  142.
  143. Yet what's worse is that it comes from cold, passionless fury; every strike is calculated, intended to outsmart their opponent after the previously committed mistake- a most grave opponent indeed.
  144.
  145. There's a slip up..
  146. Aviel is shot. Badly.
  147.
  148. "I retract my statement."
  149.
  150. "You should've knelt when you had the chance."
  151.
  152. This time... there's no escape. The Imperial Might comes forth, grasping Aviel- moving him above by floating in the air with him.
  153.
  154. The young man is dragged by his hair.
  155. Osronan guards on the bridge get quite a view.
  156.
  157. "Return Captain Julian."
  158.
  159. "Or he joins him with the dead."
  160. (Marcel Delisle)
  161. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  162.
  163. [15:22] "Niffty. She told me your name before. I thought you were an academy student."
  164.
  165. Guinevere holds onto to someone loved and cared for by Xenia as battle emerges off to the side. War once more. "She loves you." Present tense. It's like it's not even real. It can't be.
  166.
  167. "She loves you very much... I never expect to be mentioned or anything. Maybe she didn't because of my very, very loose ties..." Said ties aren't spoken of. As of now, the young woman looks at the Shimmering City and sees naught but blood.
  168.
  169. "We were really good friends. Best friends. I loved her like a sister. She... She was a really good person." Guinevere leans into the Razuka, burns or not. Her face nestles in the space between neck and shoulder. "I miss her..."
  170.
  171. Gunshots startle her...
  172. (Guinevere Falstaff)
  173.
  174. The magi moved between spaces, swimming through the ether, almost with a speed only second to none.
  175.
  176. Those blades of mana, ethereal crimson and azure, clenched to the Delisle's being. However, it was all for naught, as the captain was not deterred. Not even a singe of pain to distract him.
  177.
  178. He only charged with those black lightning, like gossamer of a spider's web in pursuit to a butterfly for a prey.
  179.
  180. After multiple exchanges, Aviel retreated to flank the Delisle many distances away, only to be shot with a seething black lightning throughout the magi's body.
  181.
  182. The magi's pupil dilated in shock - outsmarted with Marcel foreseeing Aviel's movements without much difficulty.
  183.
  184. Thus, Marcel's seized the magi's locks of silver for all Osrona to see.
  185.
  186. However, Aviel closed his eyes in defeat, mana seeping out of his body.
  187.
  188. "I have severed my ties with Osrona. This life is only but a tiny grain of sand inyour shores of death," said Aviel.
  189.
  190. From the slums, to a thief, to a Basilisk, to a spy, to a magi - to an assassin.
  191.
  192. He leaves no traces, no trouble for those he cared for and he has almost fought all alone. The lonely life of a man in pursuit of revenge.
  193.
  194. Not even in death shall he leave a trace.
  195.
  196. "Do it," he said, flashing his eyes open, staring at Marcel.
  197.
  198. He has always faced death before him and that won't change now.
  199.
  200. His life won't be used as a bargaining chip.
  201. (Aviel)
  202.
  203. Silence.
  204.
  205. The Captain stares outward at the Osronan guards at the Baleford bridge, far in the distance- high in the skies, he can see no envoys, no messengers, no one to speak of the Captain's threat and offer alike.
  206.
  207. Because it was futile.
  208. Because Julian was already dead.
  209.
  210. There is a deepening frown. The bellowing fury stirring in his heart that he has not felt since the days of his youth, now returning to him once more. Perhaps, it has been too long. Perhaps...
  211.
  212. He will have to paint his arms red.
  213. All the way up to his shoulders.
  214.
  215.
  216. "..."
  217.
  218. "They do not understand what they just did. I killed their champions."
  219.
  220. "Their Saints. Their people. Their knights."
  221.
  222. "But they never learn."
  223.
  224.
  225. They think them soft, if only because his hands had not taken life recently. But quite frankly... if this is what Osrona desired, this endless war until all of them are dead?
  226.
  227. Marcel will give them just that.
  228.
  229. "You are a fool, Aviel."
  230.
  231. "You fought for the Archmage that does not acknowledge you, or anyone - not even his family. You fought for a man who wears the crown and sits on a throne."
  232.
  233. "But you didn't get the memo. Having a crown and a throne doesn't make you a leader."
  234.
  235. "Here. Let me show you what does."
  236.
  237. For the first time, the cold visage breaks. It is replaced by murderous fury in his eyes, by a deep frown that holds pure hatred towards all things Osronan - he may claim that he has severed the ties with them a while ago..
  238.
  239. But do his claims matter if he fights for them?
  240.
  241.
  242. "Die."
  243.
  244.
  245. High in the skies, the gun-blade Journey's End is stabbed through the man's chest. Piercing his heart, leaving naught but his final moments to stare into Marcel's eyes.
  246.
  247. Into these hateful..
  248. Piercing eyes.
  249.
  250. This fury for the fall of another is what makes the Empire united; the payback will be coming, as will their reckoning.
  251.
  252. With Aviel's last breath,
  253. this is just the beginning.
  254. (Marcel Delisle)
