- Later, one day after the woman's brothers returned. Inyan Hok'xi went out to play. He came upon some bear cubs who were using buffalo rib sleds to slide down a long hill. He knew that the bear was the symbol of wisdom and was the most esteemed child of Maka. He desired their place.
- The cubs called to him, "Inyan Hok'xi, come and slide with us. You can sit at the front and feel the snow blowing in your face. We will let you steer." He looked at them and said, "I will play with you, but only if I ride in the back." He rode down the hill a few times with the cubs, and they all laughed together. Then on the next ride, he suddenly turned himself into a large boulder and smashed the cubs. Laughing, he ran away. He knew that all would fear the one who killed child so special. All would clear a path a for the one who would crush wisdom.
