- Me on April 8th 2019 in Koral Reef's general-chat
- I'm currently having a severe case of weapon choice crisis. idk if anyone want to listen to this, but I'll just post it here.
- I love the E-liter 4K, but the v4.6.0 patch made it very complicated. Bombs from the new blaster and slosher with true combo into main and Haunt. And then there is the booyah and hammer spam from excellent turfers, aerospray pg and sploosh 7. Sploosh can do main-strafing super fast now too.
- It just doesn't cut it with the ink mine anymore. The Custom E-liter 4K might counter these weapons better with bubbles (spacing) and being able to see enemies on the mini map with beakons (predict bombs). The thing is that opening up the map is so hard to do in intense gaming moments.
- And this has led me to try out the new bamboozler 14 mk lll. I've seen jp players do so good with this weapon and it looked fun. My build has last ditch-effort, 1 sub of bomb def and 1 sub of ink resistance with mpu for 99,9dmg. Everyone knows fizzy bomb is the best sub in the game, it paints and does dmg. So if the bomb dmg range didn't hit, maybe the paint around the player made him/her take that 0,1dmg and your main has the range, charge time and dmg to follow up after forcing the player left/right. The double fizzy bomb + shoots after last ditch-effort kicks in is ridiculously strong.
- There has been plenty of times I was behind enemy lines and being able to pick off 3 ppl before they knew I was there while they were engaged in the neutral game. It is also very forgiving since you can miss, but still follow up with a 2nd shot easily.
- I think back to the jp player who did so well with the bamboo mk ll (v4.5.1) and how upset I was with the million missed shots just for spacing. I was like come on you hit them so often with the Splat Charger and now you shoot repeatedly near the wall the foes hide behind. Just hoping they might pop-out. I felt this was a very different approach then what a normal sniper would do. And in my opinion, not as cool as a 1-shot splat from an E-liter for example.
- And this brings me to my next point. The maps in Splat1 was excellent for snipers. The maps in Splat2 are more closed and tightly packed suiting quicker weapons with lots of movement options. Such as a dualie, slosher or bamboozler.
- And then I come to my last point. The tournaments such as Nintendo's doesn't allow sub abilties. For the bamboo to have anything less then 99,9dmg would be a HUGE hit for the weapon (needs 41ap/2mains+7subs). And if I pick up a weapon and can't preform as well in nintendo's tournaments as in the community ones then it will make me feel left out a little.
- The conclusion. This patch really did change the game for me. Nintendo wants to sell their game as a fun turfing game so they added a bunch of awful turf weapons this patch (booyah thermometer_face ). The sploosh 7 be damned. You can have the objective tenta brella player see your whole damned team behind walls for callouts with haunt. The weakness of the E-liter is its ability to put paint on the ground. And the maps were hard to play on already... sigh sorry for making this wall of text, I just needed to get this off my chest since I used to love sniping in this game and I'm not really sure if I still do or not after all the changes that has been made.

- v4.6.0 has been a big oof for E-liter 4K mains so far. dmg-up when? isn't this supposed to be a heavy weapon (= more dmg)?
- tale
- Backline is dead. Moving on.
- If you look how chargers have been handled in the game, it is pretty sad. The biggest buff they got was when that they were given the properties they had in Splatoon 1. After that it has been on the ink feet better scale. Everything else has been given everything possible buffing and nerfing and buffing again. Chargers... static
- slimy
- There's a reason why they aren't buffed, and it's that splat charger is the best backline weapon in the game, for a player who knows how to play with it. Charger buff would mean incredibly OP weapon.
- tale
- May be true but by that logic we could argument that, for example, neither pro or mini needed buffing as far as they have already strong and perfectly functionable weapons
- slimy
- Midline/frontline weapons are different as they're really comp depended. Charger is something you can always have on back
- tale
- Making many weapons light class in the patch means they are also on any backliner's face even quicker
- I don't think it is that different. In most of the patches most of the weapon classes are getting buffed but chargers stay the same. It is really hard to buy the argument it doesn't have an effect on chargers
- Because the logic behind patching can hardly justified by catering the 2% of awesome chargers while making "no aim" weapons easier to play. If the idea is to get people to play chargers, this is hardly the way.
- slimy
- Meta is always something that you must get used to, and adapt to it. So far there hasn't been a patch that would've hurt chargers so that they wouldn't be playable in the meta. I'm speaking only for competitive scene of the game tho'. Charger is a weapon you have to learn how to play, as it was in splatoon 1. It can't be picked as an ''easy weapon'' to play ever, no matter how buffed it was.
- tale
- Just look the effect of mpu on chargers vs other weapons
- So you think it is ok to give more power to everything else but not one weapon class? Is that good design? Is it fair? Do splatlings need the extra speed or what mpu gives? Mpu makes mini insane. And I'm playing it.
- Add to that, map design is punishing to chargers. Kinda telling that only chargers love Arowana
- slimy
- Tbh yes, it is ok. Splatlings needed to buff to get them closer to chargers power. Weapons should be compared against other of its kind, not classes. Even tho' pro was the most powerful weapon in last meta, there was no reason to play only the pro. I play with a very good charger on daily basis and it works great in most maps.
- tale
- Yes, in competitive. And in competitive it is about team play but that can be pretty non-existent in solo. Chargers - and backliners - are quite often at the mercy of matchmaking, far more than others
- I'm not saying it doesn't work in comp. It definitely does
- slimy
- Yeah, as I said before I'm speaking for the competitive aspect of the game.
- tale
- But it should work better in solo too
- And something like better mpu effect would help it function in both settings
- Now it is really hard and frustrating
- slimy
- It's a rare sight in solo as it's arguably the hardest weapon to get good with.
- tale
- Partly it is because of how the game is really special heavy
- It started with weaker specials. They have since been buffed a lot
- Add to that torpedoes, autobombs, missiles...
- It is a bit too easy to make people regret playing chargers
- Give brushed more run speed. Make spu work with beacons. Make light weapons. Good luck on getting eliter charged on Humpback (damn) before you have a special or a blaster to evade

- a youtube comment I made on Sorin's weapon tier list video released on april 19th 2019 ( https://youtu.be/jNjjLG7UJjY )
- I play Custom E-liter 4K because I find value in my team. The E-liter needs space in order to work, so having teammates around you (beakon) and bubbles for support gives the weapon the space it needs (imo). Also it can jump to a beakon instead of jumping back to spawn if you miss a shot or have to dodge a booyah bomb/special.
- My favourite moment with the Custom E-liter 4K was when we were wiped and all my teammates jumped to my beakon for the epic comeback. (1 main and 4 subs of sub pu)
- I don't like to talk about meta. Mostly checking out these videos in order to understand the game better (good video btw. watched the full thing). I hope you're having a good day!

- then shortly afterwards nintendo buffed the effects of sub pu on beakons. this was huge as I only needed like 1 main and 1 sub in order to get what I had before. But I choose to stick with 1 main and 4 subs. Nowadays however I look to shorten this to either 2 mains or 1 main and 3 subs. 21/22 frames for a jump is really fast and sometimes (rarely) let's me go full games w/o a death. I found my weapon and I enjoy playing this game. Hoping for eliter (main weapon) buffs still, but nintendo just keeps on nerfing other weapons so I guess it will never happen. So as you can see this was my way of dealing with a slow moving weapon. And I continue trying to make the best of it while having fun sniping--that's what I have fun doing and what I care about.
