That doesn't matter! What does matter is that I pulled some strings and you've got Ambassador Spock, Captain Scott, and Admiral McCoy in orbit on the Enterprise D. Bones doesn't look a day over a hundred twenty, if you were wondering, but I've already blown the masquerade so I'll fix that. And there's a Klingon bird of prey that should be opening fire on it right about... now... and finding out that, surprise, they didn't penetrate their shields after all! Because they're incompetent and stupid.

I think Picard tolerated me because I actually pulled my weight basically anywhere he stuck me, but I was rarely invited into the conference room for purposes of briefing the staff about the crisis. He basically came to expect me putting myself in the right place at the right time regardless, which was good enough for me.

They still ended up mothballing the D and putting everyone in the E after that whole mess, since it was long in the tooth, but I had put in motion upgrades to the Galaxy class of ships so that they weren't completely useless, which made the Dominion war end rather a bit earlier than scheduled.

Riker did end up getting a promotion and getting the Enterprise D back with the extra nacelle and the spinal cannon, by the way, but that was after I left. I just made sure it could still happen.
