Taiga talks to Nym

Nym Ann says, "Hi Taiga."

Taiga Rowan says, "You should leave here."
Nym Ann says, "Yeah probably. This city's full of shitters."

Taiga Rowan asks, "...Does your father care for you, young one?"

Nym Ann says, "......"

Nym Ann says, "Don't ask me about my dad."

Taiga Rowan says, "I will not press."

Taiga Rowan says, "At your age, the thought of my father terrified me as well."
Taiga casually sits next to her, leaning his katana up on his shoulder. He looks to Ginger and nods.

Nym Ann says, "My dad's dead."

Taiga Rowan says, "I suspect he has been for many years."

Nym Ann says, "He was a merchant in a convoy on the way to Gehenna and Briarlocke burned the wagon."

Nym Ann says, "Took my brother with it."

Nym Ann says, "It's so sad...."
Nym sniffles and wipes at a tear.

Taiga Rowan says, "That is not the tremble of a troubled heart, young one."

Taiga doesn't even blink at the dragon.

Mertaisyl does blink, but doesn't actually react otherwise.

Taiga Rowan says, "It's okay."

Nym Ann says, "I didn't say anythin' wasn't okay."

Nym Ann says, "My dad says he loves me, calls me daughter.... now."

Taiga Rowan says, "But... you know the terrible things he has done, I am sure. To be loved by such a man..."

Taiga Rowan asks, "Does it makes you wonder why?"

Nym Ann says, "Cause I have his blood."

Nym Ann says, "Someday I'll get the name."

Taiga Rowan asks, "Do you want it?"

Nym Ann says, "More than anythin'. It's all I've ever wanted.... I...."

Nym's teeth grit together, her fangs poking into her lower incisors with a clck!. Her amber eyes narrowed at the trees and the conversation she was still somehow participating in continued. It was a conversation she never believed she have so openly, but something about how she had been approached made her want to say more.

"I'm not a pet like the rest of the fuckers he surrounds himself with. I wasn't his housecat, I wasn't his fuckin' maid." Nym hands clenched on the edge of the bench, the claws at the ends of her hands creaking into the wood. The black gem in her forehead thrummed in response to her boiling anger, an anger that had begun with the oversized sirenian in the square and the same that had brought her here.

"I'm his daughter and he's gonna accept it and say I am and tell everyone I am someday. It won't just be Clara or bug-poker Jun or anyone else-- it'll be me. Nym Ultovex, the daughter who did what the others fuckin' couldn't."

Black lines streaked across her face, painted in the patterns of her mana circuits. They descended from her eyes like tearlines but were very much streaks of shadow instead. And then she turned to Taiga.

"I hate this city. I hate the people here. I hate them more than anyone else. I'm not a knight here cause I don't fuckin' wanna be. I don't wanna be part of the system here because I'm not gonna fight in wars for stupid reasons. I'm gonna do what I want and go where I want and kill who I want cause that's the point of that name. It's what no one else gets. Not even fuckin' Sors himself sometimes."

"H...aa..." Taiga lets out a long, stilted sigh. Then again- only shorter and... no. He's not sighing. He's chuckling. No-

"Hahahahhahahaaa!" This is the hardest Taiga has laughed in years. Actually, by all accounts of everyone who knew him, this man never laughed. He could chuckle, shake his head and grin, but not even his own fucking husband had heard his laugh. It's strange to see, coming from a mouth lined with shark teeth.

Nym Ann asks, ".........why the FUCK are you laughin'??"

Taiga Rowan exclaims, "That's the point of LIFE, you little fool!"

Taiga Rowan exclaims, "Not a damn name!"

Taiga Rowan exclaims, "You think he has to give you that power?!"

Taiga Rowan exclaims, "You already have it!"

Nym Ann asks, "Wha-- what do you fuckin' mean?"
"What's stopping you from jumping off that cliff?" Taiga points south of here.

Nym Ann says, ".....nothin'."

Taiga Rowan says, "Your body... your muscles... your life - it moves on your own accord."

Taiga Rowan says, "He can take the freedom of your mind... and instill in you a fear that at times feels like knives around your heart."

Taiga Rowan says, "But he has not bound your hands."

Nym Ann says, "....I just wanna be.... me. I wanna.... I want 'em to see me how they see Clara but better. I want them to be afraid of me I want them to know that I can kill 'em with a snap."

Nym Ann says, "But I can't even do that cause I'm still too small and too slow and still just Nym."

Taiga Rowan says, "Ohhh young one..."

Taiga Rowan asks, "Will that make you happy, truly?"

Nym Ann says, "I think..... so...."

Taiga Rowan asks, "Will they love you as you wish to be loved, if you force them to cower in fear?"

Nym Ann says, "I don't want them to love me. I want them to be afraid."


Nym Ann says, "I hate 'em all. I hate 'em so much."

Taiga Rowan says, "You want them to pay attention to you."

Nym Ann asks, "Why would I want 'em to love me?"

Taiga Rowan says, "You want them to hear your screams and shouts - and you want power over them."

Taiga Rowan says, "To turn those tides in your favor."

Nym Ann says, "...."

Taiga Rowan says, "Young one..."

Taiga Rowan says, "Sors has given you the idea that with that fear... with that power, comes so much more."

Taiga Rowan says, "An entire city lays at his beck and call in that fear."

Taiga Rowan asks, "How could you not idolize such a strength?"

Taiga Rowan says, "I cannot blame you."

Nym Ann says, "Why're you even here."

Nym Ann says, "He'd fuckin' kill you if he came this way."

Taiga Rowan says, "I suppose he would."

Taiga Rowan says, "But a part of me feels like this talk is a little more important than that."
Nym looks away. She grips her knees and her claws sink into the fabric of her stockings.

Taiga Rowan says, "Salvas Voss. A man who put thousands in their graves."

Nym Ann says, "...."

Taiga Rowan says, "...I've felt all the things you have, young one."

Taiga Rowan says, "That fear. That longing."

Taiga Rowan says, "For so many years my only hope was to become exactly like him. A mirror image."

Taiga Rowan says, "Out of appreciation for the home he gave me. The life he let me lead."

Taiga Rowan says, "I do not doubt for a single moment that Sors Ultovex loves you."

Taiga Rowan says, "For monsters love many things."

Taiga Rowan says, "But I do not think you need that love to thrive."

Nym Ann says, "....whatever."
Taiga smiles a toothless, thin smile and slowly rises from the bench. He picks up his katana.

Nym Ann says, "You should go before Mertaisyl tells someone you're here."

Taiga Rowan says, "Cultivate in your heart a love for ones-self and it will bloom a flower so vibrant and beautiful, you will wonder how that barren land birthed such a thing."

Taiga Rowan says, "...And you will find that earth to have been sun-kissed from the day you were born."

Taiga Rowan says, "Goodbye."
Taiga nods his head... and slowly walks away.

Nym softens her expression and is frozen for a second before she gives him a simple nod. One way or another, Taiga made an impact.
