DRIFTER AND MUFFET

lol so it's no surprise that Drifter is a little...surprised, I guess you could say, at Muffet expressing so much as basic compassion. Back in their world, they're not exactly well-liked; every NPC save for shopkeepers and a select few basically run away whenever the Drifter approaches, and the only other member of their race tells a story about being beaten up by the other townspeople and more or less left for dead. The idea that anyone feels content just hanging around them is an alien concept. If she's hanging around them, she must need something - a debt paid for saving their life, money, something. They've so rarely encountered those that help out of the genuine goodness of their heart, and it takes multiple instances of something like that before they begin to trust that this is a friend who doesn't expect something in turn.

That being said, the fact that she's been so consistently just...matter-of-fact in her compassion, basic as a lot of it may seem, is a very, very good start.
