THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST (Part 1)

Our Scripture reading is derived from Ephesians where it says:

“Having made known to us the MYSTERY of His WILL, according to His good pleasure which He purpose in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one in CHRIST, both which are in Heaven and which are on earth – in Him” (Ephesians 1:9-10).

We give glory and thanksgiving to the Lord God of our SALVATION Who “daily” loads us with benefits (Psalm 68:19).
We cannot think otherwise, but agree with Psalmist (David), that JESUS our God actually loads us “daily” with benefits. However, only those who give themselves to “reading, to exhortation,” and to the “doctrine” of CHRIST will understand this statement of the Psalmist as Paul advised Timothy (1 Timothy 4:13).

So coming to our main topic of study, what is the “MYSTERY of CHRIST?” And how did we come to the knowledge of this “MYSTERY” which our Scripture reading says has been “made known” to us by God? The “MYSTERY” refers to God’s eternal plan, wisdom, will, and purpose which is hidden in JESUS CHRIST and which baffles the human understanding.

In other words, the “MYSTERY” is not something that can be grasped so easily. Even professors, scholars and those with mental prowess are yet to take hold of the “MYSTERY.” It is out of their reach because the human senses cannot find it. That’s why even though many theologians and pastors have obtained Ph.D. (Doctorate Degree) in biblical studies, but it is not an exaggeration to say that more than 95% of them do not know nor understand the “MYSTERY of CHRIST.”

Even when you take the remaining 5%, it is not all of them who have a FULL understanding and knowledge of the “MYSTERY.” What I am trying to put across here is that they have a PARTIAL knowledge and understanding of the “MYSTERY.” And the reason why I am saying this is because most of them do not even know the reason why God gave us the “Law,” and they do not understand the ministry of John the Baptist who came to “prepare the WAY” of our Lord JESUS (Isaiah 40:3-4; Malachi 3:1 and Luke 1:76).

Only few of the remaining 5% knows this “MYSTERY.” That’s why the Pharisees, Scribes, and the Sadducees in the time of CHRIST’ did not know nor understand this “MYSTERY.” For this reason, JESUS told the disciples, “Because it has been given to you to know the MYSTERIES of the Kingdom of Heaven, but to them it has not been given” (Matthew 13:10).

So having a PARTIAL knowledge or understanding of the “MYSTERY” is not enough to grant a believer an entry or access into the Kingdom of God. We must understand that the components or constituents which makes this “MYSTERY” known to us are the birth, baptism, blood, resurrection and the second (2nd) coming of CHRIST. If anyone lacks knowledge of any of these elements, then his “FAITH” is an incomplete one.

It is therefore important for us to know that when one’s “FAITH” is incomplete, then it is an undeniable fact that he or she is not spiritually complete either. Such a person is unwholesome (lacking spiritual HEALTH) as a result of his SINS which has not been resolved completely due to “LACK of knowledge” in the complete package of the “MYSTERY.” That’s why God said, “My people are destroyed for LACK of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). This is not a joke at all, and must be taken serious as such.

What God is saying in Hosea is that, if you a Christian and you are still a SINNER, it is because of your “LACK of knowledge” about:

(1) Your own SINFUL nature.

(2) God’s LAW.

(3) the work of John the Baptist, and

(4) JESUS’ baptism (even though you know of His death and blood already).

In other words, God is saying that even though you may have believed in JESUS for so many years, your “LACK of knowledge” about why JESUS was baptized by John the Baptist alone can make you “perish.” This is because if you do not know HOW your SINS were passed unto JESUS, then how do you get SAVED from your SINS? Don’t behave like any of those Christians out there who say that “How my SINS were passed unto JESUS is not a problem to me. I just believe that He has saved me.”

Those who say things like that are just like the people in the Old Testament who ignored the “Laying on of Hands” which gives them the golden opportunity to transfer their SINS unto the Lamb. Do you think that in the Old Testament if somebody ignores the “Laying on of Hands,” he will still be able to pass all his SINS unto the animal in order to be SAVED?

If this message or sermon is reaching you this morning as it is being forward by the Saints, then you must take the “Word” of God very seriously and seek for the “TRUTH” because it may be too late. Please advice yourself as a Christian, and if you cannot do this yourself, then you must listen to God’s advice which He is giving to you through His written and spoken “Word” which is being propagated by His born again Saint children.

These servants of God who are spreading the “TRUTH” are very “few” in the system. So if you get the chance to come across them or they give you biblical materials which reveals the “MYSTERY of CHRIST” to you, don’t be recalcitrant or “stubborn HEARTED” as God told the Israelites (Isaiah 46:12).

If you are a truly born again Christian of the water and the Spirit of JESUS CHRIST, then you already have the “MYSTERY,” but you must grow in it.

THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST (Part 2)

Our Scripture reading remains the same in Ephesians where we are told:

“Having made known to us the MYSTERY of His WILL, according to His good pleasure which He purpose in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one in CHRIST, both which are in Heaven and which are on earth – in Him” (Ephesians 1:9-10).

In our previous study, we tried to unearth and define the meaning of the phrase “MYSTERY of CHRIST,” and we came to understand that the “MYSTERY” refers to God’s eternal plan, wisdom, will, and purpose which is hidden in JESUS CHRIST and which baffles the human understanding. We also learnt that a greater percentage of Christians lacks knowledge of it, and that even among the “few,” some have PARTIAL knowledge and understanding of the “MYSTERY.” This means that those who actually have a complete knowledge and understanding of it are very minimal.

So what are the details of the “MYSTERY?” This is what we are going to look at in the days ahead as God will permit us. When the Apostle Paul started his teachings about the “MYSTERY of CHRIST,” what he said in Ephesians 1:9-10 which forms the bases of our Scripture reading was just an INTRODUCTION. However when you read further in the same Epistle to the Ephesians, he spoke and revealed more about the “MYSTERY” according to the utterance that was given to him.

Therefore when you read the VERSE 13 of the same chapter of Ephesians 1, he said, “In Him you also trusted after you heard the Word of TRUTH, the gospel of your SALVATION; in whom having believed, you were SEALED with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the REDEMPTION of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”

What then is the “MYSTERY” in the above passage? It is none other than our being “SEALED with the Holy Spirit of promise.” But in order for us to understand the reason why this is a “MYSTERY,” we must first and foremost understand our fundamental nature as humans. If we were born with SIN and we commit SIN until the day we die, then the question is: “How is it possible for the Holy Spirit or JESUS who is holy, harmless, undefiled, and separated from SINNERS (Hebrews 7:26) be able to dwell in us?” If you are not aware that this in itself is a “MYSTERY,” then you must think again.

In other words, how is it possible for the “holy” God to dwell in us as His own children born of His NATURE even though we were fundamentally born as SINNERS? The answer to such question is what the Apostle Paul refer to as “The MYSTERY of CHRIST.” We must therefore know that the indwelling of God the Father and the Son in our hearts through the “Holy Spirit” is the greatest “MYSTERY.”

In our subsequent studies, you will come to understand that our resurrection and rapture are all “MYSTERIES,” but none of these can be compared to the indwelling of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the born again Saints of the water and the Spirit. This is the reason why I am saying it is the greatest “MYSTERY.” Some may even think that our becoming “RIGHTEOUS” is the greatest -“MYSTERY.”_ However it is not.

Why? This is because becoming a “RIGHTEOUS” person occurs when one is born and sealed by the “Spirit” after believing in the gospel of salvation as we saw in our reading from Ephesians 1:13. Therefore the reason why you are “RIGHTEOUS” is because of your being -“SEAL”_ by the _“Spirit”_ of God. That’s why it is written, _“...because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through the SANCTIFICATION by the Spirit and belief in the TRUTH” (2 Thessalonians 2:13b)._

So the reason why we have all become “RIGHTEOUS” after believing in the water and the blood of CHRIST is all because we received the “SANCTIFICATION of the Spirit.” And this is what makes it possible for God the Father and God the Son to dwell in us. That’s why JESUS said, “If anyone love Me, he will keep My Word; and My Father will LOVE him, and WE will come and make Our HOME with him” (John 14:23).

This shows that the means by which God the Father, the Son (JESUS), and the Holy Spirit makes Their “HOME” in us is the greatest “MYSTERY.” Therefore when it says that “Behold, the TABERNACLE of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, God Himself will be with them and be their God” (Revelation 21:3), then we must know that this is a “MYSTERY” which is only possible through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God.

This is the reason why the Apostle Paul said that our body is “The TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19). In other words it is the third Peron of the TRINITY who makes it possible for the Father and JESUS to come and make Their “HOME” in us, and I am saying that this is the greatest “MYSTERY” which the Spirit Himself is teaching us this morning.

Some people may also think that our RAPTURE is the greatest “MYSTERY,” but it is not. This is because if the “Holy Spirit” of God does not dwell in you, how can you be RAPTURED? This is the reason why the Apostle Paul once again told us that, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised JESUS CHRIST from the dead dwells in you, He Who raised CHRIST from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11).

It says in the above passage that it is the “Spirit” of God who -“raised”_ JESUS from the dead. So if JESUS Himself was raised by the _“Holy Spirit,”_ I hope you now understand the point that I am trying to put across according to what God is teaching us. This is confirming the fact that for you to be _“SEALED”_ with the _“Holy Spirit”_ of promise is a great _“MYSTERY,”_ but for God the Father and the Son to make Their _“HOME”_ in you through the _“Spirit”_ is the greatest _“MYSTERY.”_

That’s why Paul also added, “...Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of CHRIST, he is not His” (Romans 8:9). If you are not “His,” how can you be ruptured? Therefore if you are a Christian who is speaking in “TONGUES” whiles you are still a SINNER who does not believe in the baptism of JESUS CHRIST, then you must know that you are wasting your time to be thrown in the “hell” fire by God. If you are a slave of SIN whiles you speak in “TONGUES,” please advice yourself and learn the “TRUTH.”

The “TRUTH” must be told, and you must receive it without any postponement. I personally don’t think that Christians who really love the “TRUTH” will be offended by the “TRUTH” which saves them from SIN forever. But there are exceptions to this. Who then are those exclusions or exceptions? They are those who make the Devil their “friend,” and not JESUS.

Allow JESUS to become your “Friend,” and you will understand His water and the Spirit which enables you to comprehend the full package of the “MYSTERY of CHRIST.”

THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST (Part 3)

Our Scripture reading remains the same in Ephesians where we are told:

“Having made known to us the MYSTERY of His WILL, according to His good pleasure which He purpose in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one in CHRIST, both which are in Heaven and which are on earth – in Him” (Ephesians 1:9-10).

In Part 2 of our studies, we learnt that whiles our being born again as righteous people and our resurrection and rapture are al “MYSTERIES,” the greatest of them is the indwelling of the Godhead (Father, Son and the Holy Spirit) in us through the “SEAL” of the third (3) Person of the TRINITY (Ephesians 1:13) who transforms us to become the “HOME” of God as JESUS confirmed in John 14:23 and there is more to this.

In fact JESUS laid so much emphasis on this “MYSTERY” on many occasions in the Gospel of John. Therefore He said in the same Chapter 14 of John, “At that DAY you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:20). So what does JESUS mean by “that DAY” when the disciples and all the Saints will come to know the indwelling of the TRINITY in the heart?

To understand “that DAY” which JESUS was talking about, we must move backwards to read the Verse 16 where JESUS said, “And I will PRAY the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you FOREVER – the Spirit of Truth, who the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”

So here in the above, we can see that when JESUS spoke about “that DAY,” He was referring to the “DAY” when the -“Holy Spirit”_ will be given to the disciples and all those who believe in the true gospel in order to _“SEAL”_ them as God’s children. Therefore when JESUS says, _“At that DAY you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you,”_ He is telling us that knowing and understanding the indwelling of the TRINITY is only possible through the _“Holy Spirit”_ of promise.

And let me give you a genuine and real life TESTIMONY. Before I became born again of the water and the Spirit of JESUS, I was a Christian who believed in the TRINITY, but my knowledge about the cordial relationship of the TRINITY was just a theory. But the moment I believed in the “WATER” baptism of JESUS in addition to His blood and resurrection, I came to understand the correlation of the TRINITY very deeply. Not only this, but I also came to understand my personal relationship with the Godhead. This is very true for all the truly born again Saints.

If you a believer of the gospel of the water and the Spirit of CHRIST and you have not experience or realize this spiritually, then probably your FAITH in the true gospel is unstable, and you are being tossed to and fro between the “TRUE GOSPEL” and the “OTHER GOSPEL” popularly referred as a “DIFFERENT GOSPEL” which we studied not too long ago. Or probably it can be that you are still feeding on “milk” and not “solid” food as the Apostle Paul told the Corinthians and the Hebrew believers (1 Corinthians 3:1-2; Hebrews 5:1213).

Brothers and Sisters, the TRINITY is real, and Their indwelling in the born again Saints is also real. But it is not just real, but more importantly it is the greatest “MYSTERY” which is confirmed in the Word of God over and over again.

That’s why JESUS said once again, “I do not PRAY for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they ALL may be ONE as You, Father are in Me, and I in You; THAT they also may be ONE in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given to them, that they may be ONE just as We are ONE” (John 17:20-22). If there is a believer who still cannot see that this is the greatest “MYSTERY,” then it is all because of his or her fleshly thoughts.

There are some believers on this platform and in other places that when God is teaching them “MYSTERIES” in His Word through Brother Eric, they do not accept the Word wholeheartedly, and they begin to question and to have doubts. However if the things that Brother Eric is saying was being said by Rev. Paul C. Jong, they will embrace the Word and respond with “YES” without any hesitation. Such believers exist among the believers in the gospel of the water and the Spirit, but they must repent.

When God is using another believer to teach them “MYSTERIES,” they look at his personality, where he come from (whether he is an African, American or European), his financial status, his influence, and many other things according to their “CANAL” minds which is not subject to the things of the “Spirit.”  These believers try to worship some personalities, so that if the thing that is being said is not coming from Rev. Paul C. Jong, they don’t want to accept the “Word” of “MYSTERIES” that is given to them.

But such people must know that Rev. Paul C. Jong Himself HATES it the most when some born again Saints attempts to idolize him. If he sees such people, he will actually “REBUKE” them to the face. This is because He does not want to be worshiped, trusted, or idolized as some people are doing. This is the main reason why even though in the beginning his picture was at the back of the English 1 which I saw it myself, He REMOVED his photo from the NLM Books. WHY? It is because he does not want to draw any attention to himself, but to JESUS CHRIST.

To be honest with you, I am very grateful to God for raising His servant such as Rev. Paul C. Jong. This is because it is through Him that God made me to understand the GOSPEL of being born again. He is the one whom God used in order for me (and all believers) to have a personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST. Through the NLM Books, God laid the foundation of our FAITH, so that even as we read the “BIBLE” alongside the Books, the “Holy Spirit” Himself will be teaching us.

That’s why the Apostle John said, “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone TEACH you; but as the same anointing TEACHES you concerning all things, and is TRUE, and is not a LIE, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him” (1 John 2:27). However, the problem is that some born again Saints do not have time for the “Word” of God. And yet when somebody spends sleepless nights to labour in the “Word” and the Holy Spirit reveals “MYSTERIES” to the person, they begin to question it because it is not coming from Rev. Paul C. Jong.

We must all know that Rev. Paul C. Jong and Rev. John K. Shin are God’s “HUMBLE” servants, and they are very happy when God uses any of the born again Saints to reveal more “MYSTERIES” about the gospel of the water and the Spirit. They are not “PARTIAL,” because they know that there is no “PARTIALITY” with God irrespective of somebody’s colour, race, country, gender or social status. If God was “PARTIAL,” then this gospel would have been preached to us by an Israelite, but it was preached to us by a Korean.

In fact our General Secretary Rev. John Shin told me that he himself has been reading (The True Living Bread & Water), and he said that he has been ENJOYING them. He is among the servants of God who accept the “Word” of God as the Holy Spirit teaches irrespective of the person whom the “Spirit” is using to teach.

I believe that today’s sermon was a mixture of teachings, exhortation, and admonishing as God Himself permitted.

THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST (Part 4)

Our Scripture reading is taken once again from Ephesians:

“Having made known to us the MYSTERY of His WILL, according to His good pleasure which He purpose in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one in CHRIST, both which are in Heaven and which are on earth – in Him” (Ephesians 1:9-10).

We thank the LORD for the beginning of a new week. Had it not been Him, then when our spiritual foes (enemies) whom we cannot see with our eyes rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive when their wrath was kindled against us. But the Psalmist said that BLESSED is the LORD, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth, but our “soul” has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers because the snare was broken by the LORD (Psalm 124:6-7).

So far we have learn so much about the greatest “MYSTERY” which is the indwelling of the TRINITY in the born again Saints which our Lord and Saviour JESUS spoke about on many occasions as we saw in the Gospel of John. It is therefore imperative for us to know that the “MYSTERY of CHRIST” is not only about the third (2nd) Person of the Godhead, but it is all about the three (3) Persons.

This is because it is the FATHER Who planned the entire “MYSTERY” before the foundation of the world, and it is the SON who fulfilled it in all His deeds on this earth (birth, baptism, death, and resurrection) whiles the HOLY SPIRIT also does His part to “seal” the true believers as we saw in Ephesians 1:13 in our previous studies. This work of the Spirit is also a MYSTERIOUS work which we need to pay a close attention to. So today we will look at the “MYSTERY” of the TRINITY through in summary as recorded in Hebrews.

However one may ask, “If the entire MYSTERY is about the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit, then why do you name your sermon title “THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST” *instead of saying *“THE MYSTERY OF THE TRINITY?” But the answer to this question is very simple, and it emanates from the Scriptures. It says, “For in Him dwells all the FULLNESS of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9). So according to this passage, in Whom does the fullness of the Godhead dwells? Does it dwell in the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit?

In fact when you go backwards to read the same Book of Philippians, the Word of God makes it clear by saying, “For it pleased the Father that in Him (CHRIST) all the FULLNESS should dwell” (Colossians 1:19). Therefore just as the fullness of the Godhead dwells is in JESUS CHRIST, we must understand the “MYSTERY” also dwells in Him. Therefore the “MYSTERY of CHRIST” is telling us that all the “MYSTERIES” about the Father and the Spirit dwells in JESUS.

Therefore when the Bible says that “For in Him dwells all the FULLNESS of the Godhead bodily,” it means that God the Father and the Spirit are all “pleased” to exalt the NAME of JESUS CHRIST above their own name. This is the reason why it is written that “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the NAME which is above every name” (Philippians 2:9). This is the reason why King David also said in the Old Testament, “...For You (God) have magnified Your Word (JESUS) above all Your name” (Psalm 138:2b).

So it is now clear that we must “exalt” the name of JESUS CHRIST above all things. But
unfortunately many Christians “exalt” the name of their Church leaders such as pastors, and this pastors also “exalt” themselves for the big size of their Church and for the huge number of followers which they have and other notable achievements. But if God the Father and the Holy Spirit themselves do not even “exalt” their own names but only the name of JESUS, then the true believers should not “exalt” any other name of some persons, but JESUS CHRIST.

Please don’t ever “exalt” the name of any of your leaders such as Brother Eric. And I am using my own name as an example. This is because sometimes people misunderstand what you say due to their own way of thinking, and at the end of the day they end up to misconstrue you (interpret you wrongly). However, God is telling us that there is no special name apart from JESUS CHRIST.

So if this is how God the “Father” and the “Holy Spirit” sees it as revealed in the holy Scriptures, then you and I must also do likewise. This is because the “MYSTERY” is about CHRIST and not about ourselves or anyone. This does not mean that if you mention any of the name of your Church leaders such as Brother Eric in appreciation to what God is using them for, then you are “exalting” them. That is not what it means, but it all depends on “the level” at which you deem their names in your heart.

Therefore just as committing “adultery” is not only about being on top of a woman, but looking at her lustfully in the heart constitute “adultery” as JESUS told us in Matthew 5:28, we must also know that “idol” worship is not only about making a physical image and worshiping it just like how Nebuchadnezzar did it for his followers to worship his own image (Daniel 3:1-15), but also when we deem the name of any leader so high in our hearts, we will end up committing “idolatry” in the eyes of the Father and the Spirit who “exalts” the name of JESUS alone.

I said earlier in our studies that we will look at the “MYSTERY” of the TRINITY as it is summarized in the Book of Hebrews. But doing so at this very moment will make our study very long for today’s sermon. So please let us reserve that for tomorrow if God permits.

I believe that today God wanted us to understand the reason why the “MYSTERY” is about “CHRIST” and not the other two Persons of the Godhead (the Father and the Holy Spirit). This also gives us the reason why we must “exalt” only the name of JESUS.

THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST (Part 5)

The Bible tells us in Ephesians:

“Having made known to us the MYSTERY of His WILL, according to His good pleasure which He purpose in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one in CHRIST, both which are in Heaven and which are on earth – in Him” (Ephesians 1:9-10).

The passage above tells us that even though God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit were all involved (played their respective role) in the SALVATION of humankind, all of them agreed that the whole plan will be achieved “in CHRIST.” This brings us to the “MYSTERY OF THE TRINITY” which the Bible summarized as the “MYSTERY OF CHRIST.”

But please don’t get confused about this. The point at which our studies have reached is not feeding on “milk,” but it is the “solid food” which the Apostle Paul spoke about in his Epistle to the Hebrew. So let us understand that God did not design our studies and spiritual GROWTH in such a way that we will always be partaking of “milk,” but rather He wants us to also partake the “solid food” which those who are still partakers of “milk” fail to understand. The reason for this is because the Bible says they are “unskilled in the word of RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Hebrews 5:12-13).

So when the Scripture talks about the “MYSTERY OF CHRIST,” it also involves the other Persons of the TRINITY as we learnt previously, but the reason why preachers like Apostle Paul refer to it as “THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST” is because “in Him (JESUS) dwells all the FULLNESS of the Godhead bodily” as stated in Colossians 2:9.

Now let us look at the “MYSTERY” of the TRINITY as it is recorded in Hebrews. It says, “For the WORD of GOD is powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the DIVISION of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:12-13).

The above passage talks about the SALVATION work of JESUS CHRIST which involves the work of the TRINITY. But in the passage, we can easily spot (recognize) the two Persons of the Godhead (Father and Son) in the phrase “the WORD of GOD is powerful.” This is because the “WORD” refers to Jesus (John 1:1-3) whiles “GOD” refers to the Father. But one may wonder and say, “Where is the third Person of the Godhead in the passage if it is about the TRINITY?

But the truth is that even thought the “Holy Spirit” was not mentioned in the passage, He is actually involved. He is actually hidden in that passage. Do you think that if the “Spirit” is not involved “the WORD of God” will be “powerful?” It can never be “powerful” without the “Spirit.” This is the reason why God said, “Search from the Book of the LORD, and read; Not one of these shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them” (Isaiah 34:16). This means that the Holy Spirit works through the written “WORD” of God.

The passage that we read in Hebrews talks about the work of the “WORD,” and I am saying that the “Spirit” is involved in this work. But what exactly is the work? It says, “For the WORD of GOD is powerful, and sharper than any two-edged swOrd, piercing even to the DIVISION of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” This is the “MYSTERY” of the Word of God (CHRIST).

The passage is telling us that the salvation which came by the water, blood, and the Spirit is something that is achieved through the “WORD” of God which is so sharp to the extent that it is able to cut and DIVIDE the human “soul” and “spirit” from the FLESH of man which commit SINS until death. It means that after the “WORD” of God transformed our “soul” and “spirit” to become RIGHTEOUS, it didn’t end there. But it also DIVIDED our “soul” and “spirit” from the pollutions of the FLESH. This is exactly what it means when it says “to the DIVISION of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow.”

In 1 Corinthians 5:1, the Word of God tells us that there was a born again Saint who was committing a serious sexual immorality to the extent of sleeping with his own father’s wife. And even though such a believer was doing this, the Word of God says, “Deliver such a one to Satn for the destruction of his FLESH, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord JESUS” (1 Corinthians 5:5). But how is this possible? It is because of the work of the “WORD” through the Holy Spirit who “SEALS” the believer by “the DIVISION of soul and spirit” from the FLESH as we saw in Hebrews.

Does this then encourages us to practice sexual immorality by sleeping with our father’s wife and other peoples wives? That is not the case, and this is where many Christians get us wrong. What the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 5:5 reveals what he told us in the same Book of Hebrews concerning “the IMMUTABILITY” of God’s counsel to the “heirs of PROMISE” which He confirmed it by “an OATH” (Hebrews 6:17).

Therefore the reason why a true believer is eternally SAVED is not a license for them to do cruel or immoral things, but we know very well that every human being commit SINS whether he is righteous or not (Ecclesiastes 7:20) and it is due to the natural man (FLESH) who is not yet transformed. But until this day, many theologian pastors and preachers do refuse to understand the simple truth about the human NATURE and God’s “LOVE” of the remission of SINS.

Brothers and Sisters, the Word of God is indeed “powerful,” and this is the reason why it is more than able to do such a work. Now what is the proof that the “Holy Spirit” is involved in such work which is summarized in Hebrews? The proof is found in Ephesians 1:13 where it says, “In Him you also trusted after you heard the WORD of Truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom having believed, you were SEALED with the Holy Spirit of promise.”

We must also know that the Work of the TRINITY in Hebrews concerning the “DIVISION” of “soul” and “spirit” in salvation is also recorded in Genesis where it says, “In the beginning GOD create the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the SPIRIT of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be LIGHT”; and there was LIGHT” (Genesis 1:1-3).

So here too in the above passage, we can see that two Persons of the Godhead namely: “GOD” the Father and the “SPIRIT” are clearly revealed, but the “SON” is not clearly named, but He is the “LIGHT” which God spoke in the passage.

Therefore since the “earth” (the heart of all men) was without “form,” all the three Persons of the TRINITY were involved in the work of the salvation of men to transform and restore their formless, void, and dark nature into the “image” and “likeness” of God through the water, blood and the Spirit of CHRIST.

This is what “THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST” is about.
