  1. >be a fluffy mumma
  2. >well, you were a fluffy mumma... until a few days ago
  3. >you decided you didn't like the grassies where you and your foals and husband lived
  4. >you could see yummy flowers and nummies across the black rock
  5. >you decided that your family would cross the black rock and get all the nummies you could want
  6. >the only problem was the metal monsters with glowing eyes
  7. >they came and went all day and all night
  8. >but mumma knows best. even though husband told you it wasn't safe, you wanted those nummies
  9. >sticking your nose in the air, you carried your three babies across the black rock with husband following
  10. >you thought you had time. you thought it would be safe. but a metal monster came along just before you were across
  11. >it killed husband, cutting him in half. you remember turning to see his mouth open and close but he didn't speak
  12. >the other half of him was on the other side of the black rock, the legs still twitching
  13. >your babies got scared and started to move around
  14. >you yelled at them to stay still. it wasn't safe for babies! you had to get them to the other side!
  15. >no! the babies slid off your back! you quickly tried to gather them together... but another metal monster wass coming!
  16. >it roared at you and made a loud screaming sound. you instinctively got off the black rock but your babies were still there!
  17. >NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! the metal monster tread all over them! one flew in the air and landed in a splatter
  18. >the other two were cut in half like husband! you picked one up, its boo boo juice getting your fluff red and wet
  19. >you tried to cuddle it but it wouldn't move
  20. >the other foal opened its eyes and its mouth moved like husband's.
  21. >it feebly tried to crawl to you with just its front legs, its rear ones flattened
  22. >it stopped moving. it made no sound.
  23. >then you heard another monster coming. you had no choice but to get off the black rock
  24. >sobbing, you disappeared into a nearby bush. you laid there for a long time, thinking about your babies and husband
  25. >five days later you decide to go exploring your new home
  26. >there are flowers everywhere and a huge place with plenty of fresh nummies growing
  27. >some of them are bitter but some of them are soooo tasty!
  28. >you still wish husband was here to share with you
  29. >you wander further from your new nest under the flower bush. you spot a few humans.
  30. >you don't trust humans. they're mean to fluffies. you quickly hide when they grow near
  31. >you remember husband telling you that your color like the grass helps you to hide from them
  32. >it works. they never notice you.
  33. >you wander across a large field with many tall grassies. you have to be careful so you can find your way back and not get lost
  34. >that's easy... there's a big flapping yellow thing over where your flowers are
  35. >"McNathan's Nursery" - you don't know what that means but you can see it from a ways away.
  36. >crossing the field you spot a yellow flowery bush. there's a fluffy family there!
  37. >it's a mumma and her foals. one... two... three... four? four! you're a smary fluffy. you can count to four.
  38. >you don't see a husband.
  39. >and four foals. that's too many for any fluffy
  40. >you look down at your teats, swollen with milk. aching to have a baby drink from them
  41. >you begin to formulate a plan.
  42. >you hunker down in the tall grass, invisible to anyone looking your way
  43. >you wait patiently. you have nothing but time on your hooves now.
  44. >it gets dark. the mare carefully plucks her four tiny foals up and puts them on her back
  45. >just the way you used to...
  46. >no. concentrate. pay attention.
  47. >she disappears down a tunnel under the bush
  48. >you continue to wait
  49. >the white sky ball moves through the night. it hangs high above you.
  50. >it's time.
  51. >you silently approach the tunnel and peer in.
  52. >typical of fluffies, it only goes down about two feet then opens into a chamber
  53. >there is a round bowl shape at the bottom of the tunnel to collect rainwater
  54. >the chamber's floor is covered with soft bits of moss, leaves, and even a few blankies
  55. >probably stole them from a human, you think to yourself
  56. >the mare lays on her side. all four foals lay buried in her fluff, snoring lightly
  57. >you have to do this quickly, carefully, silently
  58. >you approach and take the closest foal, a pink pegasus filly
  59. >you grab her by the neck to prevent her from chirping for help and hurry out of the den
  60. >you run like you've never run before, the tiny foal fluttering its wings rapidly and moving its legs to try to get away
  61. >no, you won't let it get away. it's yours now.
  62. >it's hard to find your way back in the dark, but you finally spot the yellow flapping thing
  63. >it guides you back to your new home under the flower bush. although you haven't dug a tunnel yet, you've made a comfy nest
  64. >you plop the filly down in it and smile at her
  65. >she immediately starts peeping and calling for her mother.
  66. >silly baby. YOU'RE her mother.
  67. >"eeeeeeeeeee! wan mama! wan mama! eeeeeeeeeee! eeeeeeeeeeee!"
  68. >"shhh babeh. mumma hewe."
  69. >"wan mama! wan mama!"
  70. >silly baby. she needs to feed. that's okay.
  71. >you pull the struggling foal to you, the light from the white sky ball illuminating you both
  72. >you force her mouth down on one of your swollen teats
  73. >after a few minutes the foal finally stops crying and starts to drink
  74. >you hold her there for a while and close your eyes. everything is good. everything is fine. mumma knows best.
  75. >you hear a coughing and gagging sound. the foal has pulled away from your teat and is spitting milk out!
  76. >silly baby! don't waste milk!
  77. >"mumma wuv babeh. babeh wuv mumma?"
  78. >"wuh... wuh..."
  79. >"wuv?"
  80. >"wahhhhhhhhh! wan mama! eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
  81. >it starts chirping again. loud. you can't have that. the mother might hear.
  82. >no. YOU'RE her mother. but something still might hear. you hug the baby tightly, muffling her cries against your fluff
  83. >she finally stops struggling and crying. exhausted and her tummy full, the filly falls asleep in your fluff
  84. >you fall asleep soon after, dreaming of many babies. so many babies. all of them love you and call you mumma.
  85. >mama
  86. >MAMA!
  87. >*cheep cheep cheep!*
  88. >you open your eyes. it's daytime. you can see and hear humans moving around outside the flower bush
  89. >the baby! no wonder you woke up... she's started chirping for... some reason.
  90. >"mama! mama! pwease wan mama!"
  91. >"mumma hewe! babeh haff miwlk."
  92. >"nuu mama!"
  93. >"AM mumma! you dwink miwlk!"
  94. >"nuu! wan mama!"
  95. >you're getting angry now. why is your baby being so mean?
  96. >you smack her across the muzzle with your hoof
  97. >a little boo boo juice comes out of her nose and she starts crying.
  98. >OH NO! what have you done? you didn't mean...
  99. >you pick up the struggling baby and hug her, cooing to her, telling her you didn't mean it
  100. >she just cries and cries, trying desperately to get away
  101. >you hold her mouth down on your teat again, forcing her to drink. that will quiet her for a while.
  102. >you breathe a sigh of relief. the humans were getting too close. they might have heard her noises
  103. >the baby finishes drinking. it stops making sad noises but won't look at you.
  104. >silly baby. don't be sad. mumma is right here!
  105. >that's when you hear another fluffy's voice
  106. >"babeh? whewe babeh? babeh hewe?"
  107. >it's the mare! she's followed the scent of her... YOUR baby!
  108. >the filly must have heard her, or smelled her, too... she starts chirping again!
  109. >NO! she'll ruin EVERYTHING!
  110. >you hold the baby tightly to your fluff, whispering to her to be quiet. a bad fluffy is nearby
  111. >the other mare bursts into your flower bush! NO! this is YOUR bush!
  112. >"wat u wan? dis my pwace yuu stupid fwuffy!"
  113. >"yu take babeh. giff back."
  114. >"dis MAH babeh!"
  115. >"nuu! dat mah babeh! you take! you bad meanie fwuffy!"
  116. >"nuu! you haff too many babehs!"
  117. >"wha... wha wong wiff babeh?"
  118. >"wha yuu talkin bout... fwuffy..."
  119. >oh no.
  120. >you look down at the foal that had been struggling in your arms
  121. >it's limp. not breathing.
  122. >oh no, not again
  123. >that's not fair. mumma knows what's best.
  124. >"yuu... yuu kiwll babeh. you giff bad huwty to babeh!"
  125. >"i... i... babeh nuu be quiet. twy to make hushies..."
  126. >"yuu kiwll babeh!"
  127. >she starts sobbing
  128. >"well, dat's wut yu get! take stupid babeh! babeh dummy anyway!"
  129. >you toss the limp foal at her. it bounces off her head and lands on the ground with a plop
  130. >the mare looks at your with anger. like nothing you've seen before.
  131. >"i... i..."
  132. >"i kiwll yu."
  133. >no...
  134. >she lunges foward, pounding her front hooves into your head.
  135. >you feel a crack and something warm and wet dripping down the side of your face
  136. >you scramble to get away but she bites your tail and pulls you backwards, then jumps on your back
  137. >"nuu! nuu! gee off! yuu bad fwuffy!"
  138. >"YUU bad fwuffy! yuu kiwll babeh! yuu bad! YUU!"
  139. >she's biting at your ears, your neck, tearing out pieces of fluff and exposing your tender skin
  140. >panting, you finally manage to throw her off. you back up. seeking an escape.
  141. >"huuuuu... huuuuu... you meanie fwuffy... jus wan be mumma again... huuuuuuuuuu"
  142. >"yuu bad mumma. peppa gwad yuu nuu any babeh mumma."
  143. >she charges again, kicking you over and over
  144. >you fall to the ground. bleeding, sobbing, exhausted.
  145. >Pepper doesn't even say anything. she delivers a few more well-placed hooves to your head
  146. >everything goes black
  147. >your eyes open. Pepper is gone. the dead foal is still there. you hurt bad all over
  148. >you can't move your jaw. it doesn't work. your head hurts so bad
  149. >"Here it is. I thought I smelled something."
  150. >"Is it still alive?"
  151. >"Don't think so. Dead foal here, too."
  152. >"Huh. You were right about the shit, though. Damn, that's a foal smell."
  153. >"Great fertilizer, though. Get a shovel, we'll add that to today's mix."
  154. >"What about them?"
  155. >"Tomorrow's trash day."
  156. >"What killed them?"
  157. >"Looks like another one of them. See the hoof marks?"
  158. >"Huh. Well that's a shame."
  159. >"Forget it. They breed like rats."
  160. >you're vaguely aware of something picking you up, putting you in a black thing with some junk and bad-smelling things
  161. >you try to talk but you can't get the words out.
  162. >you feel the body of the foal bounce off your head and land next to you
  163. >there's light above you, then it becomes dark
  164. >somehow, in the darkness, you find the foal's body and hug it tightly
  165. >you drift away again, one last time.
  166. >sometimes mumma doesn't know best
