《 PERSONALITY -
   somehow, you'll always find meredith getting her way. whether it be on what toppings the pizza should have tonight, or what practise schedule the group should have, the decision always traces back to her. it could be the way she always says her plan so confidently, or the way she can find a fault in almost all other ideas, or simply because she has the best influence on everyone else.
   you know perfectly well it's not the last reason.
   no, it's because the rest of the group know what will happen if meredith doesn't get her way. they'll be greeted with stone cold stares, crossed arms, crossed legs, and maybe salt in your tea instead of sugar. she'll grow out of that mood in a few hours, but those few hours may feel like eternity. why is she like this? goodness knows why. maybe because eating pineapple on her pizza instead of pepperoni is a simply atrocious idea.
   in other words, yes, she's stubborn. she could also identify as bossy, but if that's the case, she has absolutely no idea.
   she has absolutely no idea about her other traits as well, such as tardiness, laziness, and general "i don't give a fuck if it doesn't affect me" attitude. expect to find her lying around in sweatpants on a free day, watching tv and drinking milk, ignoring complaints. she's never on time for meetings, preferring to be fashionably late by two hours. she won't get up and practise dance routines until after midday, so she spends a lot of time practising on her own because of that. she doesn't really care that her group members complain, and this has landed her to be very unpopular during the first few months.
    however, on variety shows, she acts like the cutest little bean you've ever seen, pulling all the attention toward her. she drowns viewers in aegyo, inside secrets that she "accidentally" told, and "accidental" roasts. the rest of the members probably resent this fakeass behaviour, and often tell her to cut the shit.
   she never cuts the shit.
   in fact, she has a load of other alternate personalities for different people. the staff? polite, cheerful and modest. trainees? quiet, mysterious and reserved. labelmates? loud, fun and friendly. don't even get me started on boys, boys of all kind. she loves to casually flirt with them, brag about non-existent money, tells stories of the time she almost got herself a sugar daddy, and all that crap. the only time she doesn't act like a fuckboi is when she's with older and clearly more mature boys, when she tries to keep her mouth shut.
      now, despite her icy aura, and problematic attitude toward most people, she often shows her soft, caring side, but only in front of her members and love interest. when she's not pissed off, or tired, she's the softest bean you'll ever know.
   after coming home from practise, or from a performance, she'll throw on her favourite red sweater, curl up in a ball on the sofa and watch stranger things on netflix. you're not allowed to disturb her, unless you're coming to give her hot chocolate, or you're gonna snuggle with her. after this, she's guaranteed to be happy, and trust me, meredith's smile is the cutest thing you've ever seen.
   she's actually in touch with her caring side, but it doesn't show through in front of people. if it did, people would get suspicious, because she wouldn't be behaving like the meredith they know. you can tell it's showed if you fall asleep on the couch and wake up with a blanket around you; or if you can't afford the jacket you really wanted from the shop, and you find it sitting on your bed after a day's practise. there's a 99% chance she put it there. if you ask who it was, she'll smile and whisper, "it was the fairies". one thing to know is not to confront her about it, because she'll suddenly get very flustered, and your chance of being visited by "the fairies" again gets lowered.
   in short, meredith haneul kim is a very emotional person. you can catch her in a good mood, or in a bad one. either way, there's nothing stopping you from loving her irrationally.

《 BACKGROUND -
   meredith haneul kim was born to a middle class family in the south korean city of ansan, during the spring of 1992. her mother, sumin, worked as a science technician at her school and her father, seojin, worked in the korean branch of a chinese company. she lived a peaceful life, and made a few friends, playing football in her spare time. she loved ansan as it was a massive city and she loved adventures: she'd usually wander off with her friends and worry her parents sick.
   when she reached the age of 10, her younger sister daria jinsoo was born in late 2002 - she specifically remembers trying to make her first words to be "get bent". she spent a lot of time writing short stories and pinning them on her wall, and would get freaked out when anyone asked what they were about. she found writing about the city very interesting, and sometimes she'd even wander out to unknown places for inspiration.
   she graduated from high school at the age of 16, and attended seoul film academy. her first group project included writing a script, and being interested in writing, she agreed. she sat on a table at starbucks, with her macbook, listening to music for inspiration while she sipped her pumpkin spice. a few hours later, when she was just about to leave, someone started a conversation with her: she gave her his business card and left, just as she noticed the card said  J Y P  E N T.
   whether she should audition or not was a debate, but her friends made a huge deal out of it, by telling everyone she'd become the next boa. she enjoyed this attention a lot, and didn't want it to end: but it did eventually, because she kept stalling the audition. so, shortly after her seventeenth birthday, she auditioned for jyp by performing her favourite song, and was accepted a few months later.
   she was determined to finish college, so her trainee days didn't start fully until she turned 19. she often spent her days practising, and flirting with every boy trainee, and making bets with her friends about how many of them she could kiss. she didn't really take training seriously, until she was told a new girl group was being formed, and then she went into what she liked to call maximum overdrive, where she slept two hours a day and danced until she passed out. when she heard the news of debut, she cried and hugged the ceo, even though she was told not to.

   meredith and jiyong met on a flight, a few months into her career. they had both been given seats next to each other unknowingly; jiyong sat the closest to the window. when meredith sat down, he thought, "when i get home, i'll tell everyone i sat next to a beautiful girl today". they spent the next few minutes in silence, until he decided to strike up a conversation with her by asking, "where you flying to?", then realising they're flying to the same place. he didn't realise she was ef's meredith until she told him her name was haneul, and he said, "pretty name. just like ef meredith's, i think" and she said, "bOI i am meredith." she also let him call her 'meredith' for the rest of the flight.
   just before they landed, she asked for an autograph ("i've never sat next to an idol on a plane before") and jiyong politely accepted, writing not only his signature down but his phone number. he saw her look down at the paper in disbelief, and he winked.
   the next day, he received a text from her, saying how much she enjoyed sitting next to him in the plane. they began texting back and forth for a week, until yichao suggested meeting up sometime, and she replied jokingly with, "it's a date".
《FIRST IMPRESSIONS -
   her // she found him very charismatic. his way of talking and his small smiles were very enchanting. she felt glad to be sitting next to him, for those reasons. as their conversation started to flow, she was enlightened to know that the two of them were very similar.
   him // he found her very pretty. that's really all to it. that's the only reason why he started a conversation with her, to converse with a pretty girl and to later brag about it to his members. he thought she was shy and cute at first, and she later turned out to be more dynamic than he expected.

   him // at the beginning, jiyong acted very charismatic, determined to get "the pretty girl" to like him. he complimented her subtly, or as subtly as he thought he was doing. he felt very proud of himself, waltzing out of the plane knowing he just gave a someone his phone number. when they started talking via text, he felt a little more relaxed with her, sending her videos of the other members being dorks, and she did the same. they talked about idol life together, like the crazy diets, the performances, the fans and whatnot. when he told the other members that he was chatting with a girl, they  were mainly interested to know if this girl was real or fictitious.
   when they finally met up, he ended up blushing a lot, laughing a lot and generally being a bashful lil' bean. he told her everything about the other members, how they fuck up a lot and how they act a little bit too gay sometimes. he felt like they were really connecting, and felt incredibly accomplished when at the end of the "date", she kissed him on the cheek. when they started officially dating, he acted like his normal self, but with a lot more eyesmiles and cutesy compliments in the mornings. he seemed very determined to make the relationship work, and this would occasionally show through.
   her // at the beginning, meredith acted very shy and came off as a sort of submissive girl. she blushed when he complimented her, and laughed at his jokes. she knew he was jiyong from the start, she just didn't want to say anything before he recognised her as meredith. when he gave her his number along with the autograph, she smiled to herself and immediately began texting evERYONE about her experience.
   she found herself texting his number the next day, trying not to sound desperate, and during chats she openly expressed herself, beginning to act very comfortable with him. so when they met up, she felt confident and calm with him, adoring his behaviour that night. her personality didn't change much when they started dating, but she often spoke in a softer tone, and would never have anything to complain about. she recalls herself thinking that she could stare at him all day and never get bored. he made her happier, really.
