  2. <DM> Having successfully evacuated to the New Deku Tree, the three of you set down roots, preparing for the oncoming siege as you bolstered their defenses with some of your own. Alongside Mido and a still-increasing number of spontaneously named Kokiri, you helped protect the tree. Darte wanted to set some more traps, so he zipped down to set it up, only to accidentally water a plant and gain a pet Deku Baba.
  3. <DM> You had some tough spots in the battle, wrangling with the reviving abilities of Stalchildren, the fireballs of a Deku Babas, and some hardheaded Stalfos. However, when you eventually regrouped (with the Pet Baba hauling Darte back onto the tree), a massive wave of enemies emerged from the forest. It seemed you were about to be in for a wild ride... until Sephiroth reminded us that Maw of the Void is a real spell.
  4. <DM> Between Sephiroth blackholing 41 enemies into a scrunchy void of doom and Melizea combo-attacking with a bunch of siege weapons to Giga Drive Break an Aquamentus into a miniature nuclear explosion, you all successfully held the tree, and blocking the main pass in. However, just when you were getting comfortable in your success, you sensed another danger had snuck its way past you. A creepy crawly danger, in particular...
  5. <DM> okee doke, say ready when ready, and why do I get the feeling one of our fellow folks is asleep...
  7. * Melizea stands on guard, her drive blade still pointed upwards.
  8. <DM> *Melizea, hearing the rustle in the foliage above and seeing that singular glowing eye for a moment, on top of your stranger danger sense, you sense something has already infiltrated the tree, while you guys were dealing with the main force up front.

  12. <Melizea> "It would appear we have yet another predicament..."
  13. * Melizea looks towards the fallen Mido.
  14. <Darte> (Sorry. Vacuumed while waiting, and thus got dragged into vacuuming more things.)

  16. <DM> *All around the Deku Tree, it's surrounded by a steep cliff and forestry too thick for an army to get in. However... you notice something shine and reflect off the fading sunlight, placed between the branches of the Deku Tree and the surrounding forest.

  18. <DM> (indeed!)
  19. <DM> *Something very thin and stringy...
  20. <Melizea> "It may be necessary for us to act."
  21. <DM> *The fallen Mido recovers himself from the shock of your previous colossal attacks. He notices you pointing your blade upwards.
  22. <DM> [Mido]: Huh? What's wrong?
  23. <Melizea> "Something's unusual with the Deku Tree, I noticed some eye peeking through the foliage above."
  24. <DM> *From the encroaching dark clouds over Hyrule Field, it finally blots out the sun, and the strings turn invisible.
  25. <DM> [Mido]: Huh? An eye? What're we talkin', a Beamos eye, an Eyegore, a uhh...
  26. <DM> *He freezes all of a sudden at the realization at the last possibility.
  27. * Darte is still blinking vacantly at the utter destruction in the forest before the tree.
  28. <DM> [Mido]: We need to get inside NOW.
  29. * Melizea quickly downs a Chateau Romani.
  30. <Melizea> 13h, 11m
  31. * Sephiroth 's mind quits being on the verge of a constant reboot cycle and downs a Chateau Romani.
  32. <DM> *Nearby, the Pet Baba spits out Darte at the frozen Sephiroth.
  33. * Melizea attempts to head inside the tree.
  34. * Sephiroth follows Melizea
  35. * Darte feels this is an abuse of the circle of life. You're only supposed to go through it once!
  36. <Melizea> "I'll go into camouflage if necessary."
  37. <DM> (well, circle of life, circle of death. Either way, you're always in a circle!)
  38. <Melizea> (and i recently bought a magic cape)
  39. <DM> *You head on in, and the first thing you notice is that it's dark. Like, unusually dark. Before, there was ambient light seeping in from cracks in the trunk walls. Not even sunlight, but some sort of magical light.
  40. <Sephiroth> 37h, 36m.
  41. <DM> *Having dealt with dark realms several times over on all of your parts, while you don't have total dark vision, you can at least see movement in the dark.
  42. * Melizea takes out her Magic Golden Lamp and attempts to light it up.
  43. <Melizea> Light it up!:
  44. <Melizea> DESCRIPTION: A flame shoots out and dances around the room.
  45. <Melizea> EFFECT: The room becomes illuminated.
  46. <Melizea> This also briefly illuminates anyone that's Camouflaged, automatically procing a Spot Check against them.
  47. <Melizea> DURATION: This lasts until you leave the room.
  48. * Darte realizes Mel's moved inside, and vaguely follows her into the darkness.
  49. <Darte> (And this is how Mel set the Deku Tree aflame.)
  50. <DM> *The light pushes away some of the darkness. It then hovers upwards, revealing something skittering along the sides of the trunk walls, avoiding the light. Whatever it is, you can tell it's fairly sizeable and has plenty of spider-like claws.
  51. <DM> *The only way further up the tree, from where you are, is to climb up the vines on the side.
  52. <DM> *Mido rushes on in, along with a group of other Kokiri. They're aiming their slingshots upwards, armed with Deku Nuts.
  53. <DM> [Mido]: Alright, you creepy crawly Gohmas, EAT SOME LIGHT!
  54. <Melizea> (can i also use the magic cape's effect?)
  55. * Darte peers upwards at the skittering figures. "... Mel. You ever have to dust a new drycave for cobwebs?"
  56. <DM> (remind me what that does)
  57. <Melizea> Magic Cape
  58. <Melizea> SELL VALUE: 100 Rupees
  59. <Melizea> INFORMATION: This item is passive. Having it in your inventory is enough for its effects. And no, stacking it does not work.
  60. <Melizea> REQUIREMENTS: Camouflage Active Skill
  61. <Melizea> COSTS: 1 Magic upon equipping it or moving into a new area
  62. <Melizea> DESCRIPTION: A red cape that, while moving, becomes almost invisible, as does anything touching it.
  63. <Melizea> EFFECT: While outside of battle, as long as you’re moving, Camouflage is automatically active.
  64. <DM> (yeah, you can)
  65. * Melizea also goes into camouflage, within the... walls? Who knows.
  66. <DM> *Courtesies of the darkness in the area, you find you're able to quite naturally Camouflage. Though, you're not entirely sure how effective it's going to be, given your enemies seem to enjoy crawling around in the darkness.
  67. * Melizea whispers "Try to buy time, I got an idea."
  68. <DM> *You merge with the wall and become a permanent decoration, a face never to escape the tree- I'm kidding.
  69. <DM> *You sneakily hide among the vines across the walls.
  70. <Melizea> "I may need some buffing up or some other, however."
  71. * Darte looks for the source of the voice, blinking hard. "I... wow, you're good."
  72. * Sephiroth attempts to strap a Mask of Truth to this supposed Face of the Tree.
  73. <DM> *Darte, you look at the voice, and you just see vines and darkness.
  74. <Sephiroth> Mask of Truth
  75. <Sephiroth> DESCRIPTION: While it resembles the legendary Mask of Truth, its abilities don’t seem to give insight to “the truth”. It does, however, let you hear voices you normally can’t hear...
  76. <Sephiroth> EFFECT 1: You can speak through this mask to all others wearing a Mask of Truth. Likewise, you can hear anything spoken back.
  77. <Sephiroth> EFFECT 2: This mask alters any voice you normally can’t understand into English… or whatever it is people speak ‘round here.

  80. <DM> *Okay, you look at this "Face of the Tree", and beneath the vines, you see your friend Melizea preparing for... shenanigans.
  81. * Darte nods, closing his eyes in focus before suppling Mel with a Shield, Effect Block, and Thorns.

  83. <Melizea> (not sure if we're in battle-mode or free-style-mode)
  84. <DM> *Meanwhile Mido and the others have lost all subtlety and are about to fire their nuts into the darkness......
  85. <DM> .........
  86. <DM> okay I'mma just
  87. <Melizea> (remind me what those did again)
  88. <DM> gimme a moment, switchin' over to headphones
  89. <Melizea> (the effects i mean)
  90. <DM> (uhh, I guess these light up the night, blinding whatever they hit)
  91. <Melizea> (oh i meant the darte ones)
  93. * Sephiroth kicks Darte out the window.
  94. * Sephiroth has kicked Darte from #zurpg (You have been kicked out the window and you landed into a glass panel! Don't worry, its still intact. «20,329»)
  95. <Darte> (Shield = half damage, Effect Block = negate an effect, Thorns = reflect damage)
  96. <DM> *Darte, you find yourself accidentally screaming into the dark abyss above, right as the Kokiri fire off a barrage of Deku Nuts!

  100. <DM> god dangit I think all the NPCs are just doomed
  101. <Melizea> (also i thought dm was restricting effects outside of battle? not sure)

  105. <Darte> (Makes sense)
  106. <DM> *There's a large flash of light from above, and for a moment, you see not just one Gohma, but three. After the light fades and darkness returns, you see three eyes from above, all glowing rather... intensely.
  107. <DM> *Round 1, start!
  108. <DM> *Immediately, all three of them unleash a series of lasers down below at you all!

  133. <DM> *Right after they fire, the glowing eyes vanish from sight, and you hear all kinds of skittering from above. The Gohmas continue to maintain their Obi-wan High Ground, avoiding direct combat... for now.

  135. <DM> *If anyone would like to attack one directly, you can try, but it's gonna come at a -10 Dice bonus, unless you can find a way to keep one revealed for longer than a second.

  149. <Sephiroth> EFFECT 1: Remove a Named Effect from an ally.
  150. <Sephiroth> EFFECT 2: Reverse the last instance of Neutral Damage or Magic drain on the ally (can not go above Maximum Hearts or Magic in this case)
  151. * Darte feels rather mended, flexing an arm and giving the silver-haired one a grateful nod, terrifying void attacks or no.
  152. * Melizea casts Scorching Blade on herself, granting a +6 Attack Dice.
  153. <DM> *Meanwhile, the dual Cross Lasers combine and strike the branch the Kokiri are standing on! It burns straight through the branches, causing an explosion of flame and splinters, and knocking the Kokiri down. Blinded and Unfocused, they're unable to properly recover as they fall towards the ground floor.

  161. <DM> *On the flipside, courtesies of some branches being on fire, one of the Gohmas above is now visible! You can see it sharpening its two pincers across each other as it opens its eye, deciding which one should be used as a delicious meal.

  175. * Darte pulls out the Phantasm Spear, diving down after the falling Kokiri and driving it into the ground to form a Spirit Barrier about them. He follows this up with a chugged Chateau Romani.
  176. <Darte> (If distance is too far for him to make in a reasonable time, he can chug the Chateau before and use golden flash)

  195. <DM> *You finish drinking the Lord praise be to the cows of Lon Lon Ranch's milk and realize you've just accelerated towards the ground at higher-than-dangerous velocities.

  197. * Darte nods firmly. He's got places to do and things to be.
  198. <DM> Where ya flashin' to?
  199. <Darte> (Though turning into a sword and planting into the deku tree sounds like the start of a new legend)

  201. * Darte flashes himself towards the opposite end of the tree from where Mel had been climbing, if a platform exists there. If not, back to the platform he came from.
  202. <DM> *After a free fall into imminent doom, you reappear up top, next to the burning branches and next to a Sephiroth seeming to prepare himself for some sort of charge...
  203. <DM> *Round 1 over!

  205. * Melizea recovers some magic thanks to the magic regen.

  247. * Sephiroth attempts to Shadow Feint the Gohma that dropped down on the Darte Board.

  701. * Melizea whispers to herself "A repeat of the ancient battle?"
  702. <DM> [Voice]: Your lousy spiritual equipment won't help you. But you have something in your possession that will save her life and protect this forest. Why don't you use it?

  704. <DM> *Saria, at once, finishes the incantation!
  705. * Darte considers, hand grasping for the teal blade, then pauses again, fingers twitching. "He does promise power... power I could have had as a sage. Power to defend my people, for all time. The ferocity to be willing to undo all our foes. And this forest's."
  706. <DM> *At once, there's a burst of spiritual energy. A great glow emits outwards from her, visible to those even without Spirit Vision.
  707. <DM> *Those bright green vines emerge from the Spirit Realm and into the physical realm, covering the inside of the whole tree, and rapidly growing outwards.
  708. <DM> *Sephiroth, from your high perch, you look outwards to see vines and flowers crawling through the area, reaching into the forest below. The wave of green energy shockwaves all the way to the edges of the forest, and you can see from afar, the dead trees that were once burned to a crisp, now reinvigorated and bursting with life.

  710. <DM> *You see new fires appear shortly afterwards, but those fires are extinguished by the new life given to the forest, as a spiritual barrier protects it, preventing it from burning.

  811. * Darte nods, pushing himself up slowly. He moves towards the wounded and begins sending out Restoration Bubbles and handing out doses of minor healing items, and passing along a cheering word or two, gesturing to the vines that had propagated throughout the tree.
  812. <DM> *Between the magic pulses earlier, and your healing stuff, the wounded are able to get back up on their feet.
  813. <Melizea> "I shall climb up and recollect the Siegefin Ballista. You all should plan out for escape."
  814. * Melizea attempts to climb up to the area where the field weapon is.
  815. <Darte> "We could leave the woods, head towards the river. I'm sure my people still stand firm."
  816. <DM> [Mido]: Hmm, that'll lead us towards... isn't that old Keaton fortress along the way? I suppose we can dodge it, but... just wondering if they've got anything that could help us.
  817. <DM> *Now that you recall, Darte, the Keatons did once attack the Domain with a big ol' drill. Maybe they do have something in store. Could be worth the detour.
  818. * Melizea continues to head over to the Siegefin Ballista, if not already there.
  819. <DM> *Melizea, you get over to recover the Siegefin Ballista, when you notice more explosions coming from the caved in entrance.
  820. * Darte frowns. "Not going to trust them easily, but we may have no choice. Worst case, we go in first to take the temperature, and smash and grab supplies if it's not terribly warm. Don't have time or resources to waste starting another war with them right now."

  825. <DM> *The Kokiri proceed to mobilize and make their way out of the Deku Tree. They avoid the entrance, instead choosing to go out back.

  827. <DM> *As they're gathering their remaining fellows, though, a voice calls out to you, Melizea. Darte and Sephiroth, you hear it too...
  828. * Sephiroth follows the Kokiri, not knowing where to go.
  829. <DM> *It's not the same as the one from the Twilight Scimitar.
  830. <DM> [Voice]: You... betrayed me...
  831. <Melizea> (have i recovered the ballista)
  832. <DM> *You've recovered the ballista.
  833. * Melizea hands back over to where the others are.
  834. <DM> *Though, looking towards whatever's causing those explosions, you recognize the voice is from the same direction.
  835. <DM> *Darte, you can't help but be drawn to this voice. It's like it's one you personally connect and relate to...

  840. <DM> *There's one more explosion, and the figure of a shorty stands there, in the midst of the explosions.
