- From the time that I rise,
- To the time that I fall,
- I will toil until my back bends.
- For I am the only one left
- To bury my brothers and friends.
- Each one has died, most bravely in battle
- Bodies departed of soul.
- Each one had fought, as strong as they could,
- Sword clenched in hand, all.
- Away far away is my wife and child,
- Resting their weary heads.
- While I toil away, so far from them,
- To bury deep the dead.
- And tonight I pray as I lie my head,
- That they find their proper ends.
- And in starlight I pray that my words will help,
- To guide my fallen friends.
- And I pray my words will reach them,
- When I ask easy be their way,
- For my hope is they'll have me join them,
- When I too die someday.
- From the time that I rise,
- To the time that I fall,
- I will toil until my back bends.
- For I am the only one left
- To bury the bodies of my friends.
