- 12:58Vicky B.: Hello, you've contacted Live Support!
- 12:58Ben Cox: Hello, I was wondering what is going to happen to my domain.
- 12:58Vicky B.: Do you mean your hosting service with us?
- 12:59Ben Cox: No the domain that I got charged for but not added to my account
- 13:00Ben Cox: Hello?
- 13:01Vicky B.: I am with you
- 13:01Ben Cox: If you need more infomation: http://i.imgur.com/v5WEJ.png
- 13:01Vicky B.: What is the domain please?
- 13:01Vicky B.: Thank you.
- 13:02Vicky B.: Unfortunately, it is not possible to register an IDN domains from our web site. But they can be registered on our side manually.
- 13:02Vicky B.: Would you please specify your username?
- 13:02Ben Cox: benjojo
- 13:02Vicky B.: Thank you.
- 13:02Vicky B.: Just a minute, please.
- 13:03Vicky B.: Please confirm that the domain xn--paypa-r2e.com should be registered.
- 13:03Vicky B.: Please check the domain spelling and kindly specify the original language.
- 13:03Ben Cox: Im sorry?
- 13:04Ben Cox: That is the domain I wanted to register
- 13:05Vicky B.: I mean if the domain xn--paypa-r2e.com is correct.
- 13:05Ben Cox: That is correct
- 13:05Vicky B.: Please give me the original language.
- 13:06Ben Cox: It has a Cyrillic char in if that is what you are asking
- 13:07Ben Cox: A latin symbol at the end
- 13:08Vicky B.: Ben, are you try to register a domain with xn-- or you try to register an internationalized domain?
- 13:08Ben Cox: with xn--
- 13:09Vicky B.: The domain which you try to register is an internationalized domain. Such domains require original language. Otherwise thee can not be registered and used.
- 13:09Ben Cox: So that when it is typed in the URL bar with the latin char it translates to it
- 13:09Vicky B.: If you just wish to register a domain with xn--, you can register a domain like xn- with only one hyphen.
- 13:11Ben Cox: Right But I want it to translate from: paypaІ.com to xn--paypa-r2e.com , I'm doing this to make people aware of Latin chars in the domains
- 13:11Ben Cox: Is that not possible?
- 13:14Vicky B.: All domains can be read in Latin letters. But internationalized domains are offered to have the domains in their original languages. For example, you live in Japan and wish to have the domain name in Japanese. In order to have such domain, you need to code the Japanese domain into Punycode and register it. The domain which you try to register is a Punycode variant of of such domains.
- 13:15Ben Cox: So a mashup is not allowed?
- 13:16Vicky B.: I am afraid I did not get it quite straight. Would you please rephrase your question?
- 13:16Ben Cox: So you can not combine 'normal' letters and Latin letters in the same domain?
- 13:17Vicky B.: What do you mean "normal letters"? Do you mean English letters?
- 13:17Ben Cox: Yes
- 13:18Vicky B.: English letters are the same as Latin ones.
- 13:18Vicky B.: "xn--" can be used only for internationalized domains.
- 13:18Ben Cox: So you can't combine 'English' and the Cyrillic set together
- 13:19Ben Cox: it has to one or the other? I can't use both in one domain
- 13:21Vicky B.: Would you please specify how you get the domain xn--paypa-r2e.com?
- 13:22Ben Cox: Type www.paypaІ.com into your own site
- 13:22Ben Cox: Or a browser, they translate it the same
- 13:26Vicky B.: Would you like to register the domain paypaі.com?
- 13:26Ben Cox: I would to register paypaІ.com
- 13:26Ben Cox: With the Cyrillic І
- 13:27Ben Cox: Hence the "xn--"
- 13:27Vicky B.: The domain Paypai.com can be registered. Domains in internet can not be used with capital letters as they are displayed in low letters.
- 13:28Ben Cox: Its not a capital letter
- 13:28Ben Cox: It a Cyrillic one
- 13:28Ben Cox: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%86
- 13:29Vicky B.: Thank you.
- 13:29Ben Cox: I'm sorry?
- 13:30Vicky B.: But this alphabet is used in several languages and in order to register this domain only one language can be chosen.
- 13:31Ben Cox: Ok, I think I understand now. So if the whole thing used crylic letters it would be fine? EG ( http://xn--c2aaaaa.com/ or http://ІІІІІ.com )
- 13:32Vicky B.: In order to register any internationalized domain you need to specify the original language.
- 13:33Vicky B.: You can check it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internationalized_domain_name
- 13:33Ben Cox: So if I said that the domain was russian it would be fine?
- 13:34Vicky B.: Yes.
- 13:34Ben Cox: Even with the one that I wanted to buy in the first place?
- 13:38Vicky B.: If the domain paypai.com generated in Russian and its code into Punycode is xn--paypa-r2e.com, then everything is correct and the domain xn--paypa-r2e.com can be registered with the original language.
- 13:38Ben Cox: So, if I get a Russian friend to buy the domain for me its allowed?
- 13:40Vicky B.: In order to register the domain you should not be Russian.
- 13:40Ben Cox: Ok, so if I told you that the original language was Russian you would of let me register it?
- 13:42Vicky B.: If the domain is not in Russian, it will not be displayed for you properly in browser.
- 13:42Ben Cox: I am aware of that
- 13:43Ben Cox: So what do I have to do to register that domain
- 13:44Vicky B.: Please confirm that the domain xn--paypa-r2e.com should be registered.
- 13:44Vicky B.: And I will process the domain registration on our side.
- 13:44Ben Cox: I, want xn--paypa-r2e.com , I am aware that it will not display on English computers correctly and I still want it.
- 13:46Vicky B.: Thank you.
- 13:46Vicky B.: Please, hold on.
- 13:51Vicky B.: Unfortunately, the domain can not be registered. Most likely the domain paypaі.com is not in Russian.
- 13:51Vicky B.: Please double check it.
- 13:52Ben Cox: I'm sorry?
- 13:52Ben Cox: All it has is a Cyrillic letter in it that is part of the Russian language
- 13:55Vicky B.: Most likely the letters used in the domain are not in Russian.
- 13:57Ben Cox: Will it allow if the language was Mongolian?
- 13:58Vicky B.: The domain should be in Mongolian. If it is not, the system will not allow to register it.
- 13:58Ben Cox: What do you mean by the domain? As in the content on the page needs to be Mongolian?
- 14:00Vicky B.: Please, let me transfer our chat session to the representative responsible for such issues.
- Nelly D. has joined the conference.
- 14:00Ben Cox: Sure
- 14:00Ben Cox: Hello
- 14:00Nelly D.: Some connection errors have occurred suddenly. We do apologize for getting disconnected.
- Vicky B. has left the conversation.
- 14:01Nelly D.: Let me review the chat history
- 14:03Ben Cox: Do you understand what I want to do?
- 14:04Nelly D.: We can try to register the domain name in Urkainian.
- 14:04Ben Cox: That would be perfect
- 14:04Nelly D.: As I can see the initial transaction was refunded to your Paypal account. Please prefund your Namecheap account funds with $10.16 so that I can proceed
- 14:05Nelly D.: Once you log into your account you will need to perform the following actions in order to add funds: 1) Click on the Add Funds to your account link in the "Funds in your account" section; 2) Choose the payment method for adding funds to your account and complete transaction
- 14:05Ben Cox: Sure doing that now
- 14:06Ben Cox: Done
- 14:07Nelly D.: Thank you, hold on please
- 14:13Ben Cox: Any news?
- 14:14Nelly D.: Your request is being processed, hold on please
- 14:21Ben Cox: Still nothing? How long will it take to process?
- 14:23Nelly D.: I apologize for keeping you waiting. The registry rejected the domain registration. The deposit was returned back to the payment source
- 14:23Ben Cox: So it is not possible to have this domain
- 14:24Nelly D.: Unfortunately the registration is banned
- 14:24Ben Cox: Ok
