A total Dandere. She's usually found all alone in class with no one to talk to. No one wanted to be her friend because of her silence (she's silent all the time because she doesn't have anyone to talk to and would empathize with her)ㅡuntil Jongkook came along. Because of him, Shinju became very talkative and outgoing. She stopped going to school with baggy eyes and sore throats. But when he left, Shinju became devastated. She went back to her silent personality (since no one wanted to talk to her still) and drinking ways.

background:
Shinju's mom met her dad because of work. Her dad was working as a lawyer for the Japanese Embassy in South Korea. He was an unfaithful husband to his wife back in Japan, and when he met Hana at her bar, he was stunned of her beauty. The two got together and after a year, Hana became pregnant.

For 7 years, Yuki was able to hide his Korean family from his Japanese family. But then, when his wife went to Korea to surprise him, Yuki decided to quit his job and move back to Japan completely.

Shinju was 11 years old when she and her mom found out that Yuki deceived them. Hana has always been hoping that Yuki would come back with an engagement ring for her. Because of her devastating heartbreak, she began to drink alcohol. It started out once or twice a week, then it would be four to five times, until she grew addicted to alcohol. Everyday, she comes home completely drunk. She even encouraged her daughter to drink with her, saying that it's okay as long as there is parental consent.

Shinju was 13 when she started to get bullied by the other students. Because she had no friends at all, she was an easy target. Her reputation went downhill, making the bullying increase, as her grades went down with them. It was a different story when she gets home. Shinju is lucky if her mom doesn't go home. Because if she does, all she gets are bruises and scars (from shattered glasses of bottles). Her mom would bang at the door for Shinju to open it for her, count the minutes where she's still outside, and then hit her with her new bottles for every second that she has wasted. Sometimes, Shinju would just stay by the door so that there wouldn't be a wasted second in opening it. But when she does this, Hana would still find another reason why she should hit her again and again.

And then when Shinju has classes the next day and her bruises were at the visible areas of her body (like the face), Hana would get a big basin of ice cold water and dump her face in it even though her daughter was already drowning.

Her condition lightened when Jongkook befriended her. He became her wall who she can lean onto and at the same time, her protection. Because Jongkook always made sure to keep the smile on her face stay, he was able to get her out of her shell and be more open to friendship with other people. The bullies somehow decided to leave Shinju alone. Shinju never thought of him as more than a friend though. He was more of like the best friend she never had. Because of their strong friendship, she didn't want to ruin it with some kind of unrequited love.

Because of her job, Hana forgets that she's a mom and would always party all night like a teenager. When she gets home, she abuses her child (because Shinju reminds her of her dad) to the point that Shinju's arms and legs have permanent bruises. This happens every single day, but Shinju couldn't leave her mom because she's the only family she has left. (Used to be close with her daughter because Yuki was still with them, but not close with her at all now)

》He pretended to be called by his mother, saying that she was at the hospital and has breast cancer. He fled Korea and rode the next plane to Japan. She and Shinju found out 4 years later that he has his own family in Japan. He cut off all connections with him as soon as his escape plan became a success. Because of him, Hana started to drink all the time. From there, the abuse began. (Used to be very close with daughter, but not anymore now)

how they met:
They were in class and Shinju was presenting a presentation in front. She was very prepared for her presentation, but then why do people snicker at her back when she turns to change the slides or write some key points on the whiteboard?

It's all because she was on her first day on her period, and she hasn't realized it until a latecomer came in and said it out loud. At the time, she had her back facing the door as she proudly continued her "lecture". The boy stayed by the doorway as he stared at her butt which obviously had a big red stain on it.

The professor was busy at the back, checking their previous quizzes when the boy asked her why her skirt turned red as everyone burst out laughing. This caused the professor to look at the commotion and gave her the admission slip to the clinic.

The boy volunteered to come with her (since he really wanted to tease her about it the whole way there) and there Shinju started to hate him, while the boy began to take an interest in her (but not in a romantic way. More like, he wanted to befriend her). (Btw, on the way to the clinic, Shinju was probably hiding her stain with her sling bag)

his personality:
He's very smart and would always ace his quizzes and exams. When it comes to recitation in class, he always knows the correct answer.

He's not the type to be friendly with people. He's constantly all alone in the library, catching up on his studies with his headphones on.

When it comes to girls, he just doesn't show any interest in them. Although he's had numerous girlfriends, all of them were the ones who asked him out.

how your character acts around him:
Shinju hated Seokjin for always teasing her about the color red. Because of this, she would always hide whenever she catches sight of Seokjin. She runs out of the area he's currently at, but Seokjin would always find her trying to get away from him.

When they're together, she just keeps her silence and pretends that he's not there. When he gets extremely irritating for her, she would take out her prepared masking tape and tapes his mouth shut.

how he acts around your character:
Since he doesn't have any other reason to talk to Shinju, he would always bring up the red topic. Shinju would get angry at him, but at least he's recognized by her. At least he has made his name known in her head.

Whenever he finds Shinju running from him, he runs after her quietly and surprise her from behind. And since he's with her already, he tries to stretch his luck by trying to have a conversation with her, which results to more teasing, and then more tapes.

status: They're currently at an unknown state. Shinju hates Seokjin, but Seokjin's feelings say otherwise. But soon, Shinju will learn to treasure the attention he gives her and realize that he's actually genuine and trustworthy.

In the future, Shinju starts to realize that she has become used to Seokjin's attention and there, she develops feelings for him. She confesses to Seokjin (since her conscience has been eating up on her for each day that she doesn't confess) and asks him out, but Seokjin declines.

Why? Because Seokjin prefers it that he asks her out, and not the other way around (to sound like a real gentleman).

interactions:
Because of their first meeting, Shinju earned a special nickname from Seokjin: Red. Seokjin would always remind her how red her cheeks are, how red her lips are, how red her tongue is, and the list goes on. Shinju would always pinch his side painfully and walks away. Her treatment for Seokjin worsens when Jongkook passed away. Seokjin became her personal pin cushion and then cries as she hits him with her bag.

Because of her tears, Seokjin's interest in her grew tenfold. He would always ask why she's crying, and she would always say "nothing". Seokjin wants to see her smiling once again and would always try to cheer her up. He would call her everyday and tell her funny and senseless jokes. She doesn't end the call and would just listen to his voice on the phone. But when the night becomes near, Shinju would always end the call as soon as possible (because of her drunk and abusive mom).

suggested couple scene:
● Shinju accidentally forgets to end the call at night. Seokjin hears her screams and the sound of leather (because of Hana's leather jacket) hitting skin or shattering of glass. He hears her mother's malevolent voice, telling her that she shouldn't have been born. Because of this, his protective instincts got the best of him and went to her house. But as soon as he arrived, Shinju was already passed out at the corner of her room.
● Seokjin asks Shinju to be his girlfriend after he rejects Shinju's proposal.
● He asks her to consider the room next door to his at his apartment, and offers to help her with her expenses, just so that she could get away from her mother.

Jongkook has always been her "little brother". She loves it when he asks for her advise when he has girl issues. Although he's younger than her, he also stood as her older brother at times when she needs one the most. They became best friends and would always treat each other like family. She became attached to this boy because he was the first person to ask for friendship from her. He even transformed her looks (from the nerdy type, to the type where everyone would be able to appreciate her beauty).

reactions:
She was probably the one who cried the most. Jongkook was the only family she had left that truly cares about her. She mourned his death for months and even suddenly cries in class. Because of him, she broke out of her shell, but then when he was gone, the shell she once had cannot be found anymore. She felt exposed to the world, with no walls to protect her, no brother to run off to, and no Jongkook to care of.
