NES Pre-v6.0 Changelogs

v4.0 NES N8 is now one of the crown jewels of my EverDrive setups. I've been working on rebuilding it from scratch it for over six months and have countless hours invested in tracking down the latest homebrew, patched roms, and researching the release. v4.0 represents a ground-up rebuild of my N8 setup. The focus in 4.0 is to have verified, EverDrive-compatible roms sourced from the highest quality ripping groups.
- The Evedrive N8 does more than just play NES & Famicom games. With Krikzz's support, you can now boot Family Computer Disk System (AKA Famicom Disk System), PlayChoice-10 Arcade, and most VS Arcade games.
- Known problematic No-Intro roms (header issues) were replaced with GoodNES, across all regions.
- The new Game Series Collections makes exploring the NES library easier for newcomers. There you will find roms arranged by theme. I recommend starting with Retro-Sanctuary's Top-100 List. I have all of the roms numbered according to their ranking. The Shoot 'em Up pack has 146 titles—probably every NES shooter.
- What's else is new? Massive amounts of new content in the demos, homebrew, unlicensed, PAL, prototypes, arcade packs, etc.
- Lots of great content contributed by fuctfuct.
- OS updated to v13
- Famicom Disk System is now complete.
v4.2 Merged in NES No-Intro 2014-08-25 and No-Intro FDS 2015-08-03.
v4.3 Minor content update
v4.4 Content update plus two new Game Series Collections: Light Gun & Black Boxes. A big thank-you to Visor for making these.
v4.5 New Game Series Collections by retrorgb (Famicom 3D System) and Visor (Famicom 1983-1985, NES 1985-1987, GameFAQs.com Top 100 List!). I also added hacks suggested by GeneralLeo77.
v4.6 New Game Series Collections by Visor: Famicom 1983 – 1984, Famicom 1985, and Famicom Disk System 1986, NES 1988, NES 1989, and added some missing FDS games. New hacks and homebrew.
v4.7 MAJOR update to the FDS folder thanks to the massive work of MycahM. He tested every single rom and identified those with loading, mapper, and Side B errors (documented here, here, and here). I removed all broken roms and moved Side B error roms to a new folder in case a future OS update or patches fix them. A huge thank you to MycahM for his time and dedication, and for wading through all those creepy Japanese FDS games!

v5.0 – Major FDS folder revision by Jincman, building on MycahM’s previous work. This has been in the works for about 6 months, and required a lot of his time. J went through and re-tested every FDS game and categorized them to essentially create a new EverDrive Pack within a Pack. A giant thank you to Jincman for this submission!
- Replaced official games with their latest revision (labeled Rev A or B), from No-Intro 2017-01-11. I will eventually transition all packs to this arrangement, and N8 is the first up. It is very time consuming to do this, so it will be gradual. This ensures that you are playing the latest and most bug-fixed version of a game that was released.
- Removed about 40 Non-Compatible games (due to large file-size or unsupported mappers)
- Major clean-up of the official games directories, and several others. A huge thank you to VideoGameObsession for documenting a number of issues.
- 240p Test Suite updated to v.015, and removed from its redundant folder
- Tons of new Public Domain homebrew from NesDev.com, and some demos
- Added several new Tools, and renamed others.
