7 | - | Make sure you have these. They are bug fixes and stuff. |
7 | + | Generic bug fix patch that many mods seem to depend on. If you use USSEP, you must install both VR patches below. This is very important as starting a new game with basic USSEP will permanently break your save if you don't have the 4.1.3 Patch installed. You could alternatively not install USSEP and not use any mods that require it. That is a valid option to consider as USSEP really straddles the line between being only a bugfix patch. |

15 | These are graphics changes. For SMIM, make sure you use the "Lite" version, which you can pick when you install it in Vortex. For SMIM conflicts, treat SMIM as a base; for every conflict, resolve it on SMIM as load BEFORE (except Optimized Texture, let Optimized Texture load BEFORE). Realistic Water Two is often recommended, but it was designed for Special Edition Flatrim. SkyrimVR doesn't do dynamic reflections, so vanilla water will look better in many situations. Pick your poison with that one. WICO is a pretty laid back NPC overhaul that doesn't turn everyone into super models, so it is often recommended. Be warned, though, that WICO has a nasty bug that makes some NPCs unkillable. You need to apply a patch to fix it. After you install WICO, click the arrow next to Remove and selected "Open in File Manager". Copy/paste the changed "WICO - Immersive People.esp" into that directory, overwriting the existing one. For the WICO options, the UNP body is one of the standard "pretty female" bodies. However, you might consider using it if you plan to install custom modded armors as most times they are fit to the UNP body. If you don't download from the Files tab, you will probably end up getting the nude UNP body variant, so make sure you select which one you want.

33 | Audio enhancements. Make sure you install the 3D positional audio patch. It extracts into your base Skyrim VR directory, so x3daudio1_7.dll is in the same directory as SkyrimVR.exe. Many people say to install the version from github, but many other people say that the version from github has various issues that the NexusMods version does not. I would try the NexusMods version first. Load Immersive Sounds AFTER Lucidity. Audio Overhaul adds lots of crazy reverb, even with the reduced reverb patch, so you may choose to not use that one.

42 | Change the environment of the game. Obsidian Weathers is pretty incredible in VR. ETHEREAL Clouds and Cosmos are improvements, but can be considered optional. Skyrim is Windy is also optional, but it really helps improve the feel of the environment by making all the trees and fauna sway in the wind instead of being static and unmoving.

51 | These are gameplay changing mods and can be considered optional. Immersive Citizens makes the NPCs seem more alive and is very recommended. Mortal Enemies changes combat to make it more immersive and less video gamey. It makes them commit to an attack and a direction and makes them unable to rotate through the attack to always be facing you. Use test version 2.0.

58 | Notes about conflicts in Vortex:
59 | ||
60 | In the Mods category, if there is a conflict between mods (both change the same file), you have to resolve the mod order. The mod that loads LAST is the one that you will see in-game. When there is a conflict, you will see a red lightning bolt in the Dependencies column. If you click it, you can adjust the load order rules. Once the conflict is resolved, it turns into a green lightning bolt.
61 | ||
62 | I would recommend that you consider SMIM and Optimized Textures as BASE mods. They change a lot of models and texture and so many things conflict with them. Go into SMIM and Optimized Textures and set them to load BEFORE every mod listed. This will resolve a lot of the conflicts. Next, for everything that still has issues, choose which ones load AFTER.
63 | ||
64 | For example, on SMIM, tell it to load BEFORE Realistic Water Two and Majestic Mountains. You will see that Realistic Water Two and Majestic Mountains conflict with each other. You want Majestic Mountains to take precedent over RWT, so go into Majestic Mountains. Notice that the SMIM line has a white box with an "i" in it. That means that this conflict has been resolved on the SMIM side, so leave it as "No Rule". For the RWT line, set it to be "Load after". This has now resolved all the conflicts.
65 | ||
66 | The only time you should use "Load before" is on your BASE mods. For all other conflicts, use "Load after".
67 | ||
68 | Usually mods will tell you in the description if there are conflicts with other mods and what their recommended resolution should be. If they don't tell you, use your best judgement. Choose which one you want to use and load it last. |
