 › PERSONALITY | SUMIN is quite eccentric. she's a ball of fluff who gets excited over the smallest and weirdest things. she's open and charismatic, making it easy for her to talk to people. has a great aura and easy to befriend, though she's not one of those social butterflies, is actually not that sociable at all. people usually approach her first rather than her reaching out to them. she can be quite shy when meeting new people, especially older and more experienced ones. but once she opens up to you, you'll definitely get a taste of that quirky side of her. she's fun to be around, but more fun to laugh at. sumin is somehow very, very funny, whether it's accidentally sprouting jokes or just does something really cute and adorable that you can't help but giggle at. she's known as the mood-maker of the group and is labeled 4D by the fans. why? because she's always wacky and loud on screen. she loves her fans a lot and makes sure that they know how much she appreciates them. though her bright persona doesn't mean this girl has nothing to worry about. in fact, her mind is usually always preoccupied with thoughts, and you'd be surprised at how heavy they are. sumin is easily affected by things, and often she unravels at the slightest jab or insult. she's weak, sometimes but physically and emotionally and it's not the best trait to have in the entertainment industry. she's that one girl who actually bothers looking through the hate comments despite being told not to. the reason for her fragileness is because all her life, sumin has been surrounded by her family and friends. there was no form of negativity like the one she receives now. the thing that scars her the most is when people call her dumb, or stupid, or an airhead, or a bimbo, just because she has a bubbly personality. sure, sumin is not one of the brightest girls out there. having joined the company at the age 14, it hindered her education a lot, yet the girl studies a lot on her own. she's is a bigger baby than the maknae of the group. another flaw that she has is that she whines A LOT. seriously. whether it's because she has to wake up early for a schedule, someone's eaten the last slice of cheesecake, or if someone's taking too long in the shower. she. whines. so. much!!!!!! it's surprising how the girls still put up with her.
 
 › BACKGROUND | SUMIN was born in gumi, south korea, a smaller city compared to the bigger and more popular few. she is the second oldest out of 3 siblings. she's the middle child and the least problematic, which gives her a lot of perks but of course several downsides. her famnily is an ordinary one with enough income to put a roof over their heads on good days. they have their several ruts, but it's nothing a little more hard work from everyone can't fix. she's always been a positive girl amongst all that. i think it's safe to say that sumin's family is pretty tight-knit one, a house with nothing but love and proximity. sumin had always been interested in music and performing arts at a young age. she even did ballet for a while but had to stop because her parents couldn't pay for classes at that time. she doesn't really mind it even if she loves ballet a lot, she didn't want to burden her parents. there's this piano in her house that belonged to her grandmother. it was moved to her house ever since the woman passed away. no one really plays it except for her (her siblings are convinced that it's haunted with her grandmother's spirit, but sumin doesn't believe in those kind of things). so one day she just started playing, and fell in love. started teaching herself all kinds of songs i think she's one of those girls who's just born to breathe music. she also started singing a lot too. when news that SM was scouting for new talents, sumin wanted to give it a try even if it was a long shot. just for fun. her parents only let her go because they didn't think she would actually get in (which they feel bad about) but she did. and it was the most interesting thing that had ever happened in her whole life.

   + moving from gumi to seoul was by far the most anxious thing sumin had ever done. she wasn't used to the city life and was overwhelmed by everything. she mostly stuck to herself the first few months of being a trainee, but quickly realized that being alone wasn't going to do her good. she needed someone she could rely on since the industry's really tough. so she began to show her true personality and adapted to her new life. her personality made it easy for her to befriend the other trainees. she did have bad days. a lot of them. being the family person than she is, it was often that she missed home too much. whenever that happened, sumin became unmotivated and distracted with her training. she got scolded by her mentors often and in result would just worsen her mood even more. but as the years went by, sumin got a little stronger with every mistake and jab she gets. still whines a lot though.
