    · in all honesty, park yeonjung had been doomed before she was even born. her mother, despite being very young, happened to be rather promiscuous, and it was obvious to anyone who knew the woman exactly what sort of activities she’d been up to. so, even if yeonjung has never really met her mother, she does know everything that she needs to know about her mother’s reputation. lim yooyoung was young and naive, and didn’t think that things would eventually catch up with her. she liked to live her life in the present, always seeking a thrill, not giving a damn about the consequences. so one day, a couple of months after the new year, yooyoung had been out looking for a thrill. on the same night, she happened to come across park hyunjoon. park hyunjoon was a well known man, with a good looking face and an even better looking wallet, set to take over his father’s business when the older man retired. he was now in his mid twenties, married with a wife and young son at home. he’d just returned from a successful business meeting, and was celebrating with a couple of drinks at the bar. maybe if he knew about the consequences, he might not have had so much to drink, but soon enough, he stumbled upon yooyoung, and things got a bit heated. unfortunately for the pair of them, yooyoung, who’d only been eighteen at the time, ended up pregnant. she was far too young to have a child by herself, nor did she actually want a child of her own, and instead, pinned the blame on hyunjoon, insisting that he take responsibility for the unborn child. yooyoung was reckless and immature, but she wasn’t cruel, and even if she had no intentions of keeping the baby, there was no way she was going to abort it. hyunjoon, on the other hand, was furious, and wanted nothing to do with the child. he maintained a high profile in society, and he had a family of his own, he didn’t want his reputation tarnished by another baby, that wasn’t the child of his wife. but secrets never stay secret for long, and even if neither yooyoung or hyunjoon know how, the tabloids found out about the child, and it hit newspapers the next morning, before either of them could stop it. park yeonjung was making headlines before the day she was born, and even though it wasn’t her fault at all, she was the reason why the business took an economic decline during the next few years, and destroyed a part of her father’s reputation that he’d never get back.

+   · much to the dismay of her parents, and her stepmother, the tabloids documented every step up until she was born. during the month of november, the month she was due, it was all the tabloids would speak of, and the company experienced a slight increase in sales, before they would ultimately drop once she was born. yeonjung's birth had essentially destroyed her father's reputation, and put a massive strain on his relationship with his wife. his only son was far too young to understand what was going on, and hyunjun's wife, minseo, was not pleased to find out about his little hookup, and even less so to meet the result of it. yeongjung was born on the thirteen of november, on a rainy day in seoul. somehow, reporters had known as soon as her mother went into labour, and were surrounding the hospital in attempts to be the first to get the scoop on what was labeled the "most scandalous birth of the century". several magazines had already come up with their headlines, many of which included the fact that she was born on friday the thirteenth, something known world wide as an unlucky day.
