    upon first meeting with xinhui, most people get the impression that she's a reserved and shy person, which is only somewhat true. xinhui is the type of person who looks quiet, and like she's always calm and collected, but it's only half true. around people she doesn't know or isn't close with, xinhui tends to stay on the quiet side, and do her best to make a good impression. this often results in people mistaking her for shy, when she's not. she just isn't good at opening up to new people, and the language barrier isn't much help, either. xinhui can't count the number of times she stumbled over her words and said the wrong thing to important people. she's lucky she's extremely cute. she's not good at opening up to people because she doesn't know how to socialise with people she knows nothing about. she doesn't know if they'll take offence to something she says, or if they're generally not interested in her mindless chatter, and it's why she tends to stick with the people she does know, and has no problems conversing with. because of this, there are a lot of people who don't really know much about her. she tends to keep a lot of things to herself, and even those closest to her don't know everything about her, as they're still chipping away at the walls she's built up. she doesn't mean to be so secretive, but she's just not very good at spilling her entire life story to people, and she's still not the best at being completely open. it's not as if she's got anything to hide, she just doesn't think that it's interesting enough for people to be fascinated by it. she's extremely good at keeping secrets, though, and if you share something with her, you can guarantee that she'll keep her lips sealed. it's because of this that people find her very trustworthy, and she's one of the members in the group that the others come to to get things off their chests, because xinhui won't spill it to anyone else.

+   xinhui is a very sweet person, that much is obvious at first sight. her childlike innocence is obvious at first sight, and is further emphasised as she's one of the younger members of the group, and a lot of the older members tend to dote over her. she's the type of person people feel the need to look after, because of how innocent and cute she appears, and it brings out the maternal instincts in most people as they want to shield her from the bad things in the world. she's not one to be overly mean to other people (she's just petty at times, but not mean or bitchy), and most of the time, she's a joy to be around. she's also extremely caring, even though she's not always the best at openly showing it. xinhui tends to stick to more subtle ways of looking out for her close friends, like offering them water so they stay hydrated and slipping them food when she notices that they haven't met. she hates seeing other people overwork themselves, even though she herself isn't any better and she never really seems to take her own advice. she'll also do whatever it takes to cheer other people up, because she doesn't like it when other people are unhappy. her bright smile and contagious laughter help her cheer people up, and she's always there to offer a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear. xinhui can also be very naive, despite her book smarts. she has a reasonably high iq, but she's more book smart than street smart. she's still a child a heart, and it hasn't quite set in yet that she's legally an adult, as she has yet to let go of her immaturity and childhood innocence. she's oblivious to a lot of things around her, and a lot of things tend to fly over her head. it's even more reason for people to want to shield her from the horrors of the twenty first century.

+   it's kind of terrifying how lucky xinhui is, and it's something that people can't seem to fathom. she's always in the right place at the right time, and is always being offered good opportunities. xinhui is the type of person who can't walk three feet along the sidewalk without stumbling across money, and she's got a jar full of money that she's found stashed under her bed for emergencies. she's always winning competitions and receiving prizes in the mail – even going as far as to win her mother a fancy beater, and her father a trip to america. if she was interested in the lottery, there's no doubt that she'd be able to win millions. xinhui's luck is on a whole other level, and it astounds even the people close to her that have been around her long enough to become used to it. however, xinhui is also easily persuaded and influenced. she's the type of person who just goes with what everyone else is doing, and she's more of a follower than a leader. she's indecisive, and can never make decisions unless she's put on the spot. as a result, she kind of just goes along with everyone else, and doesn't really voice her own opinion. this makes it really easy to take advantage of her, and makes her an easy target, especially since she's still really young, and she's still not entirely used to korean customs and the culture. it goes hand in hand with how naive she can be at times, and in the group, she's the most likely to be led astray. xinhui would probably get lost if people didn't keep an eye on her.

+   one of xinhui's negative traits is her impatience. xinhui is the type of person who hates to be kept waiting, and she likes things to happen on time. she hates standing around and waiting for long periods of time, and would much prefer it if her activities where scheduled so that it was a continuous flow of activity, instead of xinhui being left for hours in between each with nothing to do. xinhui just hates waiting. she was extremely impatient as a little child, and it was something that her parents just assumed she'd eventually grow out of, but unfortunately, xinhui is nineteen years old, and she has yet to stop being so impatient. xinhui is always on time, and it's a bit of a running joke in her family, because xinhui has never been late in her entire life, not even when she was born (in fact, xinhui was born a week early, so it's safe to say that if there's one thing xinhui is not, it's tardy). however, it can be frustrating, because she can be a bit obsessive over everyone being on time. she also tends to get pissed off very easily, and isn't someone who never loses her cool. it's not difficult to piss xinhui off, and she's a bit like a teenager with her mood swings. at least she doesn't dwell on her anger for long, and within half an hour, she'll have forgotten about any arguments she might have had. however, she can be a bit petty, especially towards people who push her buttons and have the audacity to act innocent. in her nineteen years of living, she's perfected the art of getting on people's nerves with minimal effort, all while keeping up an innocent facade. a petty xinhui is definitely not someone you want to deal with, so it's probably better you just keep her smiling and happy.

    xinhui is an extremely hard working individual, and while she is a very lucky person, she didn't get to where she is by pure luck alone. xinhui is the type of person who puts 110% in every single thing she does, no matter how big or small the task is. she's a dedicated person, and once she starts something, she will not stop until she's finished. she's very motivated, and is the type of person who always sticks to her personal goals without straying. in addition to this, she's also very modest, and isn't very good at accepting compliments. she doesn't like to brag about her achievements, even if she's the first person to hype up others when they achieve things. xinhui always believes that there's something she can improve on, and she can be a bit of a perfectionist, good is never enough for her. when she compares herself to the other dancers and vocalists of the group, she knows that she has a long way to go, so she can often be found in the training rooms at early hours of the morning. she's also a lot smarter than she looks. prior to beginning her training and becoming an idol, xinhui was a very hardworking student with very good grades. if she wasn't so interested in being a performer, she'd probably be studying medicine to become a doctor of some sort, like her parents wished. her hardworking nature comes from her parents, who are an engineer and a nurse respectively, and were both extremely smart. if her parents had anything to do with it, they'd have forced her down the medicine path, but while they don't entirely approve, they want their daughter to be happy more than anything, so if she wants to chase her dream all the way to south korea, they're not going to stop her.
 
 
 BACKGROUND. /
  + ACT I. zhou xinhui was the first and only child to be born to zhou ziyi and huang meihua, who were high school sweethearts. the pair met when they were in high school and quickly became close friends, and were quickly teased by all of their other friends for how close they were. their romance was fit to be the storyline of a cheesy romance movie, with the classic best friends falling in love trope with ridiculous pining, because despite the obvious crushes they harboured on each other, none of them ever really said anything. it wasn't until they were in their final year of high school that their friends got pissed off and created an elaborate plan to get the two together, sick of their years of pining. the rest of it is history, and by the end of their high schooling career, they were in a stable relationship, one that all their peers were certain would last. the pair got married fairly quickly after graduating, and by the time they were twenty, they were both expecting a child, who would later become xinhui. ziyi was currently studying to become an engineer, and her mother had to put off her entry into university in order to look after xinhui once she was born. xinhui was welcomed into the world on a rainy day in guangzhou, and grew up in a relatively well off household. her parents were neither poor nor rich, but her father earned enough income for them to live comfortably, and when her mother eventually decided to resume her studying, not wanting to become a stay at home mother despite her own mother's insistence, both sets of xinhui's grandparents were more than happy to babysit.
 
  + ACT II. as a child, it became clear that xinhui had a love for all things music and performing. she took piano lessons all throughout her childhood, and later took and interest to playing the flute as well. however, her real passion was dance. ever since she saw a dance video on the television, it was all she ever wanted to do, which led to little xinhui all but begging her parents to let her start dance lessons as well. it didn't help that her grandparents were completely on her side, and helped her convince her parents to finally enrol her in ballet lessons. while it wasn't quite like the dancing she'd seen on the television, xinhui was happy nonetheless, and ballet quickly became her favourite thing to do, as she happened to be extremely good at it, much to her parents' surprise. however, despite her newfound love for all things dance, her parents were still insistent that she keep her grades up, and insisted that school remain her number one priority. both her parents had successful jobs, and they were keen for their daughter to follow in their footsteps. as an only child, they'd come to dote on xinhui, but they were also rather strict, because they didn't want her to end up nowhere in life. despite their busy jobs, they'd still built a stable relationship with their daughter and they just wanted her to do well in whatever she did. they made sure that xinhui grew up to be hardworking, and not expect things to be handed to her on a silver platter. and hardworking xinhui was, just not in the way her parents had hoped. she was still getting reasonably good grades, but her parents could tell she wasn't applying herself as much as she could be, and instead was focusing all her energy and attention into dance.
 
  + ACT III. her parents often complain about xinhui's choice of a career, but in all honesty, it was her mother who first sparked her thrill for being on camera. as a small child, her mother had brought her to a small modelling audition being held at a local shopping mall, and while all that came out of it was a toothpaste cf (which to this day is the most embarrassing thing she's ever done, and if she had the chance, xinhui would completely wipe it from existence), it was what motivated her into wanting to become a celebrity. she was first introduced to kpop by her friends when she was about eleven years old, and took a quick liking to the different styles of music, and that was when she decided that was what she wanted to do. her parents were completely against it at first, wanting her to finish her schooling and go to university like they had done, a start a successful career in medicine, because xinhui was a very smart student, and neither her parents nor her teachers wanted her to waste that. however, xinhui had little interest for anything that wasn't dancing or performing, so when the company was holding an international audition in her hometown, xinhui took the chance. in all honesty she hadn't expected to get a callback, but when she did, she went back to beg her parents, bringing up every point she could think of to persuade them to let her go to korea and train. it was only when she turned sixteen that they decided to let her go and become a trainee, deciding that she was old enough then to take care of herself, because despite their insistence that she go to university, they knew their daughter would never be happy unless she was standing on stage. her parents might have been a bit harsh on her, but xinhui knows that they'll support her in anything that makes her happy, because they know just how hardworking she is and how she'll stop at nothing to achieve her dreams.

  + PLANET GIRL – the pair seem to go hand in hand, as the two loud members of the group who never seem to shut up. even though xinhui’s not as good at variety as the other girl is, behind the scenes they’re like partners in crime, and it would probably be better if you kept them apart, unless you want to deal with whatever scheme they’re cooking up.
  + VIXEN – they’re both dancers in the group (as well as fyre), but dancing is their main talent and position in the group, since while xinhui is only a lead dancer, she’s better at dancing than she is singing. she really looks up to the older girl, and really likes learning from her, because she wants to help with their choreo one day, too.
  + OUTER SPACE – out of the boys, xinhui’s closest with him, simply because they’re both pretty close in age, and because she likes his calm nature, and the fact that he’ll sit quietly and let her talk for hours on end without interrupting her like some of the other members might do. in all honesty, they’re complete opposites, but they actually make for a pretty cute set of friends.
  + ELECTRIC – xinhui’s always wanted an older brother, and despite his intimidating image, she’s actually really close, mostly due to the fact that he took her under his wing when she first became a trainee (albeit unwillingly, since xinhui kind of just attached herself to him and refused to let go). they’re sort of like a brother-sister duo, and he’s actually become really protective over her, even if he won’t admit it out loud.
